FMS is bringing it this year! I can’t believe how fast the high speed motor is. FMS’s price points on parts are so much more affordable than most others. It really feels like you get way more for your money with the quality. I’ll be adding this one to the growing list of upgrade parts to grab off of FairRC whenever it’s available for sure.
Awesome to see this motor wake it up and be a simple bolt on upgrade! Been on a living room basher kick with the ramps and the kiddos have a blast watching them jump. The rage trek has been great too, really fast and pretty durable. Have yet to break a part with a few hundred jumps so far. Just picked this smasher v2 up after seeing how highly it was recommended and definitely not as quick but nice to see the speed motor will get her up to speed. Thumps up!
@2FM RC do you ever sell any of the monster trucks . That's my favorite. I just ordered one to mess with from fms . Got the links , motor , heat sink . I didn't get any gears . Wasn't sure about that . In transmission
I was already excited when I saw that teaser that FMS was releasing a monster truck but you're really getting pumped up for the Max Smasher release with all of these excellent videos you are releasing! :D I will definitely be getting that $13 speed motor for my truck when I get one.
Oh never mind Matt, I see now they were aluminum bead lock rims. Yeah I’m waiting on a set of aluminum Spool and steel ring and pinion gear for my FCX 24 power wagon oh, love my little monster truck Ausel they are lots of fun can’t wait to get my new ramp, Really appreciate that info and video
Mine sounds just like that too! But I do have the metal transmission gears. High speed durability tests have been made every day for about a month on 40c 450mah lectron pro 2s lipos between the frame and pickup bed. I've only broken my roll bar on the body so far!
Breaks my heart that you can't find those flywheels ramps with the flat edge anymore. lol Dunno if they got wise to what we were doing and didn't want to get sued when a kid took a Traxxas Rustler to the face or if it was just a redesign.

These have just opened up for preorder in the UK, 2nd of December is the date for us here. I'll order all my upgrades through your link. Needs a clear body option too though so I can paint it myself
I hope the speed motor gives it more torque too. I did a full treal brass upgrade, the aluminum axles, and metal gears. The stock motor does not want to climb unless I'm in low gear, I definitely need a stronger motor.
Get the Injora - FCX24 60 Turn Motor if you want to crawl & get the FMS - FCX24 Speed Motor for ripping around. I got both & have them mounted in there own gearbox with steel gears to swap out easy when I want to change things up.
I know this is an older video but man the high speed motor is fun. But even with the heat sink it gets hot quick. Like 5 minutes on concrete and gravel driveway quick. And that was just driving around not jamming forward to reverse or putting a huge load in it. Already time to upgrade driveshaft. Thinking might be better to out the low speed in and just by the k5 body and tires. And just do the crawling and something else for bashing like a mini lmt
I added a curved up skid plate under both bumpers from a cut sanded and painted yogurt container. This cheap mod eliminates the bumpers from catching while crawling or doing wheelies. Im going to replace the stock bumpers with custom tublar ones and mold the skid plate to it. Ill use original mounts. Wish me luck. Any suggestions or thoughts are appreicated. keep the max smasher/ power wagon videos coming.
That’s odd! They had told me they were gonna send everyone who bought the speed motor a new battery that will handle the motor. Probably decided they didn’t wanna do that forever lol
Maybe that's one of the reasons for the transmitter and ESC change to prevent going forward and backward too quickly and causing the shut off? But hopefully they bring the motor back I don't know of any suppliers in the UK that would have stock yet.
@@FuddyMucker yeah idk? I told them that new transmitter is making a lot of people mad lol. I had no clue that change was coming. I don’t think anyone did lol. They need to switch back asap!
@@2fmrc yeah it's made many angry, Ive just seen they have the original transmitter on offer for $21 at the moment. I'm looking to use my noble nb4 pro anyway so not an issue for me, just need to find a small ESC and receiver to fit.
I got the hi speed motor but it cuts out all the time, running the battery it came with but it seems to be same battery as stock. Got the motor/heat sink/battery combo off Amazon. What do you recommend to fix the cutting out? Thanks
Seems like a lot of people are having this problem lately. Have you tried another battery with a higher c rating? Even the scx24 battery stopped it on the one I had doing the same thing. It was originally a battery issue but now I’m wondering if it’s an esc issue in the newer models because some have said even a better battery don’t help. I honestly don’t know. The battery fixed mine.
This video gave you a lot of work and it was fun and elucidative but... could you please crawl a little with the FMS speed motor? It's all it matters to me... LOL! I wonder how it behaves at super low end speed...
Another great video. Will the furitek Komodo brushless motor for these be a direct fit? I do not want to put the Komodo brushless motor on unless it’s a direct fit without cutting anything or moving anything around. Will this brushless motor be a direct fit like the speed motor but you just have to change the ESC and a new receiver? Thank you…
If you get the one from Furitek made for the fcx24 then it will be. It comes with the transmission, motor and plate to mount the motor. The one for the scx24 has a different bolt pattern & has a shorter motor shaft so the pinion won’t line up with the spur by the time you add the plate to mount it.
I’m new to the 1:24 scale. I bought the Max Smasher and want to buy the high speed motor. On FairRC, they recommend getting the metal transmission gears. What are your thoughts? Also, they recommend the heat sink. Are you using the high speed motor with the heat sink? Should I purchase that also? Thanks
I did the heatsink, transmission metal gears, and metal lower links all before I drove it. But I have only broken the roll bar on the body of mine after about a solid month of running 40c 450mah 2s lipos

The motor and most parts can be found at FairRc (link below) You could definitely mount this motor in an Scx24 with a mount like the one for the MofoRC big block (share the same mount holes). You’d have to remove the pinion and install one that works with the scx24 because these are an odd mod 4 pinion. The Fcx24 has all bearings in it so no issues there and the trans has been pretty solid. It is plastic gears so I’d recommend the treal metal gears because I have stripped a couple once adding more power. shrsl.com/3qqab
No ball bearings in the portals, I got a full ceramic bearing kit to replace the low quality ball bearings & to replace the oil lite bushings in the portals. They were certainly not cheap but I will not need ball bearings ever again for my FCX24 K5 Blazer.
I really like the Trx4m for trailing. The looks are great etc. I feel like for a crawler build I still prefer the fcx24. Maybe when the aftermarket stuff really comes along for the Trx4m that’ll change but for now I prefer the fcx for my crawler builds.
I got the fcx24 monster truck for my son and looking to put the speed motor in. I have heard people say gears do end up stripping. Are there gears that will bolt right in which will not strip?
Does anyone have experience with FMS's customer service. My son got a Max Smasher for Christmas. The transmitter won't power on. I emailed fmshobby's customer service that night and haven't heard back.
Yes it has the same plug as the stock fcx and scx motors. To run it in an Scx24 you’ll need a motor mount similar to the big block mount from MofoRC and a pinion to match the scx24 transmission. The one that comes on the motor won’t work.
Where did you get that jump on the right of the screen when comparing speed?? Looks like my freewheel ramp but that's the 1 I'm looking for where you can connect 2 or more together side by side mine don't have that option for some reason?
