My favorite part of the game is when Gorb shouts "It's Gorbin Time!" and proceeds to gorb all over the screen

Sly for me is top 5 bosses in Hollow Knight, I feel that once you master all his movements, he becomes one of the most fun bosses of all, he is one of the few bosses in which I simply turn on the game, and start fighting with it for pure entertainment, with the plus of putting it in ascended for more challenge and to make it last longer, something that only bosses like the sisters of battle or pure vessel (my favorite boss in the game) are capable of achieving with me, plus I love it the aesthetics of the battle and Sly as a character
Totally fair. I think I say at the end of his segment that I get why people would have him that high. It all really came down to pure personal preference as the list got to the Top 20 or so - I really think like... most of Hollow Knight's bosses are just 9/10s and 10/10s
For me the Nailmaster bosses would be much higher up- Hollow Knight's parry mechanic is just so frickin satisfying to pull off. Parrying the dash slash makes you feel like an anime protagonist. Judging by aesthetic alone, Nosk is also amazing. The sheer, utter, wrongness in it's design is beautiful.

Honestly Soul Master in particular is my favorite boss in the game. awesome buildup with the organ track throughout the soul sanctum, and that little intro he does the first time you fight him is so well done. The whole sanctum is just such a cool theme for an area in my opinion. Plus, up until that point in the game, you never really face anything quite like him and it really leaves an impression on you. So many good things to say about this game in general lol. either way, great video; ya really got me back into Hollow Knight!
It's so tough, because I think he's brilliantly designed, and his build-up and lore is fantastic, but then I'm like "Oh yeah, almost every boss in this game has amazing design, build up and lore." This is the rare series where the ranking doesn't quite do every boss justice. Most of them are S/A/B tier.
All throughout the last video I was thinking "Okay this next one has got to be Uumuu" so I'm as shocked as you. Can we talk about how good the sound design is for the double damage hits? It feels like the end of the world in the best way possible. Failed Champion has a bit of a cheese mechanic which makes him far more tolerable at the end of that fifth pantheon: while the maggot is out, if you pogo his armor, then his timer to get up will reset and you can dream nail and heal indefinitely if you do the occasional pogo (don't attack the maggot until you're ready to start fighting again). Soul Tyrant is definitely above bosses like No Eyes for me, especially the second phase rhythm of attacking just before each desolate dive is a lot of fun.
Uumuu and Dream Warriors above Watcher Knights is crazy, tbh.

Some bosses get wayyy more interesting when you have to fight them on radiant, sly is one of these
Gorb's single spear attack only happens when you get really far away, which you can't do in godhome. Next time you fight him in the howling cliffs, try just running as far as you can. You should see it.
I'm slightly bitter with Broken Vessel as I failed my Steel Soul run due to a infection blob spawning on top of me when I had 1 health left
Considering I have Soul Tyrant in my top 6 on my personal list...yeah we have very different opinions haha
I totally get it. He's a very specific type of boss that I can see appeal to some, just not quite my cuppa tea.
I've done such a list a couple years ago in a google doc and I love how my top 5 has yet to show up.
This has been a very refreshing ranking of the hollow knight bosses most hollow knight boss rankings go by mostly on gameplay alone and dont give their personal opinions of them. 30k by next summer
I always try to bring a more casual perspective to my rankings, so while I obviously care about gameplay, I think everything surrounding a boss like it's lore, music, etc is what elevates for me ^^
love the series but ranking uumuu above watcher knights is a hate crime, apparently sly and hornet sentinel got done kind of dirty too, for me a lot of the bosses who also have a nail except hive knight and oro and mato are total top tiers
also can relate to all bosses that have a jump in their moveset that is the main thing that makes me take damage
What? Where is no-eyes. You were right, I hate these placements. Soul Tyrant is my fifth favourite boss. How just how? How does no-eyes rank higher than any boss on this list? I disagree with pretty much every spot in this list.

I can promise you No Eyes isn't Top 10. I just happen to really like her fight because it makes me do something completely different to win it.

Honestly, I rarely interact with it except in very specific boss fights. Normally it doesn't come into play for most players.
I completely agree quirrel is the best character in the game there is absolutely no one else who gets even close

Soul Tyant's great fun, and I totally recognize why people might prefer his gameplay. I just find a lot of the downtime with the teleporting constantly to be a bit tedious, especially after doing his Pantheon fight 50 times x_x

I know you don't mean to offend, but it's comments like these that made me so hesitant to cover Hollow Knight on my channel.
I've played this game since 2017, I've beaten every boss dozens of times over the years (with the exception of AbsRad), I've 112%'d this game multiple times, and when I decide to do a casual playthrough where I'm clearly a bit rusty since I haven't played in a while, I'm critiqued for horrendous gameplay.
Why do Hollow Knight fans feel the need to bash gameplay that isn't 100% optimized? I'm sorry, I just don't see what joy comes from pointing out somebody had a rough fight?
Normally, I love ya. Typically very based takes. However as soon as I saw uumuu his high up, I lost faith in the gay community. The fight is very boring, and not even hard. Where an annoying mechanic is the only thing making it hard. Even then, a experienced player can make quick work of it. Plus, it doesn’t even have build up or a good theme. The attacks are repetitive, and not even fun to dodge. It ultimately can feel like RNG, especially with the way it bounces around when you hit. Also I think enraged gaurdian should be lower, since it’s a redone boss. It’s even worse of an experience, since you already have experience. Watcher knights for example, should be higher. Since its attacks are really fun to dodge. My final opinion goes to soul master being higher. I don’t love the soul sanctum, but the lore of it is insane. One of the better in the game. The fakeouts can also genuinely get a new player. Also the soul master actually has more than three attacks, and forces even a good player to think about how to play the game if they want maximum damage. You can rarely just spam your nail into. Thus I think it’s a genuine contender for top 10.
I think your comment is just proof of what I always say in my videos - We all value and enjoy different aspects of games and gameplay, and everyone is completely valid. My takes don't align with yours, but they both exist and that's a beautiful thing.
