The Nests saga is the second chapter of the King Of Fighters series and it includes the games KOF 99, KOF 2000 and KOF 2001.
The story focuses on the new main protagonist K' and his rebellion against the evil cartel NESTS .

While the *"Orochi Saga"* refers to the struggle for survival of mankind, the *"N.E.S.T Saga"* is like the struggle of mankind against themselves.

Not an evil god, not demons, aliens...
All the bosses of the NESTS saga are humans.
I like how the NESTS saga showed the darkest side of humanity.
Krizalid was the idealist follower who is a real good and caring person but have to do an evil work only to be killed off by his superiors... he is a real tragic villain.
Clone Zero gives an impression that he knows too much things to consider himself a lesser evil, but his actions ended messing all things for friends and foes alike.
Original Zero is a tyrant, he may have his qualities but in the end he will kill anyone who threats his organization status quo, he is too blind to see all things that he does not stop his clone or Igniz and overall was just a tool for a greater evil.
Igniz the disilusional god wannabe who despises all humans around him, a good mastermind behind the saga but he falls in the villain ball in the end, he fail to realize what Kyo, Iori or K 'discovers in the kof tournaments...to surpass all their limits and fight destiny...he was just an observer rather than a fighter.

One mistake you mentioned, Igniz didnt kill his father in front of champion team. In fact, his father was dead long time ago and he was the one control the whole Nests for his own lunatic purpose ------- to be a god.

Lovable Igniz is powerful but he didnt want to be a god. He already thought of himself as god. Thats why he said if people doesnt want a god then he'll be a demon that will destroy the world.

I have a a short series in Another Day and the CGI one.
KOF Destiby...but they only covered KoF 94 and Gesse Fight
KOF needs an anime series it would be a huge tournament arc with different sagas that would be amazing if they do it right

00:25 - Fun fact in case you want to ask. King of Fighters XII was actually going to be the next chapter after XI. Problem was that SNK had budget problems and they needed more time so they kind of released XII while they worked on spiffing the game up for the inevitable XIII.

Truly a good saga that itself should be a tv series with the number of tournaments being the number of series. 3 tournies that are focused on the best cartel makes it 3 seasons

One of my favorite storylines ,I remember buying kof99 at gamestop and loving it and then I got 2000 and 2001 on the Sega Dreamcast, good memories
In the past, I never liked the NESTS saga. It was confusing and I didn't get what was going on. Now that you've clearly explained it well, I have a new found respect for the NESTS saga. Thanks man!
You forget to mention this: yuki was about to get kidnapped by NESTS but iori prevented this. Benimaru scolds kyo for his negligence in contacting Yuki, though they both understand that it was needed to protect her.
In other words, the Nest Saga gave birth to my best main. Kula. Yes!!!!! Shes too precious!
Nameless, Kana Isolde, Kula Diamond and K'Dash are my favourites.
Its not just about the lore, but your way of telling it and adding more jokes and climax made these vids so good 😭

I have absolutely no idea what he's saying. But the combo of whatever it is that Maxima yells out, mixed with the sound of that huge punch special move connecting (at 2:40), was one of my favorite parts of this excellent game.

With time, i learn to like more and more the Nest saga, Nests was fucking dangerous, and have A LOT of story behind.
I always see that the Nests Saga as sort of an allegory to SNK as a whole. By the late 90s, SNK was in trouble financially. Consoles such as the Neo Geo CD and Hyper Neo Geo 64 flopped. And then they released the Neo Geo Pocket Color and that flopped too. It's then that SNK would end up being bought by Aruze... until October 22nd 2001 when they pulled the plug on the company.
In a way, things in KOF has changed with a terrorist organization that desires world domination. Sure, it's cliche but it did give us a new protagonist, new characters and an intense story. This is well done but hey, all of this can be wrong so who am I to judge? I love this series cause it's just rewatchable.

Yeah, as soon as Iori got his flames back in the Ash saga he challenged Kyo immediately during Japan Team's coronation (KOFXIII).
He could've saved himself from his cursed bloodline but he chose to embed the Yasakani Jewel back just to kill Kyo.
It's in their desinty. And no i'm not being poetical, this was literally set by what Orochi did in the ancient past, and Iori's bloodline curse.
Imagine Goku vs Vegeta, but with even more of a predefined natural reason other than Vegeta's saiyan pride
Or like water and oil - mexican, latinamerica saying -, they would never actually mix.
That's a good rivalry for you and why KOF is a good series XD

Kof Destiny is a cg series about the beginning of KOF. One season for now but it's on SNK's CZcams channel.

The NESTs Saga is my favorite arc and... I ADORE Kula and love playing as her and K'.
Since KOF releases stateside were so sporadic back in the day, this was the first complete saga I played. I was very confused by all the "Orochi battle" references in '99, haha. And while I dig the 2001 arcade intro, the PS2 one is my favorite.
I began my KOF experience with the NESTS saga and as such it holds a special place in my heart. Great video!

The story was great.
The new characters were awesome and very memorable and introducted my favorite team of all time, NESTS team (K9999 rocks btw)
99 was my first and favorite game.i thought krizzalid was incredibly cool and offered pretty decent challenge but i guess not everyone agrees

Kof99 was my first kof and k-dash being my favorite character, but I never knew the story it was hard for me to follow especially since there were previous games I didnt know what was what, I love the kof franchise and these videos are the best and now I finally know about nest, I knew k and whip were siblings and i thought K was a krizalid clone, glad I found your channel bro keep it up

The lore of KOF is one of the best in fighting games next to Tekken.
MK lore was also great...until MK11 with all the retcons.
Edit: Looks like SNK has fallen in the same mistakes as NRS
They made retcons in the story of the NESTS saga.
Especially the events of 2001...
Honestly I enjoy the MK lore till deception. Not too hot on Armageddon or the reboot story wise...
At least KOF has been consistent all the way through.

For example
Changing Vanessa'd backstory in KOF XIV
Now she is not a widow and she lives with her husband who is alive now.
Other big retcon is about the story of 2001
K9999 no longer is canon and was never in Team Nests in that year.
Instead Team NESTS were only Foxy, Kula and Angel and they never participated the tournament.
Angel was the one who attacked Foxy and betray NESTS alone.
Yeah...it is stupid.

I actually liked 12, although incomplete it was a way for them to make some cash after taking on such a huge project. I wish when they released 13 they would have kept the same zoom as they had in 12, I loved those huge detailed sprites.

I at least thought 2002 Unlimited match was meant to be canon because of the whole Nameless/K9999 shebang. To avoid copyright issues with K9999 as a character, they made Nameless as a canonical replacement. Kof 2002 um is the only game in which Nameless is present so I kinda figured that it was that way. At the very least, if the game itself isn't, it seems like his character is canon. Because if your going to change a character to avoid copyright issues, then it would stand to reason that the new iteration of that character is the canonical version of them and the old one is not, otherwise, what's the point?
The NESTS saga is quite hard for me to follow with all the NESTS agents characters that come and go, forming different teams from games to games, and the bosses that wears similar outfits. I need a refresher every now and then.
One would think they'd learn from the other tournaments that there is always a blimp or ship you don't get on to avoid fighting game bosses 😂😂

Like the king of fighters sagas should be their own series. As much as the tournaments can hype the audience, the best that the king of fighters can do is to humanize the fighter characters. Even have fights outside the tournament. Maybe have some conflicts that revolve around people or an organization.
I do appreciate you taking to the time out of your day to explain the story and the three sages from kof 95 to kof14 it seems to confuse a lot of people cause of the in-depth storyline but could you do me a favor can you explain the story plots from 2 kof games that were made on the gamboy advance? Why the kyo Iori and Chizu clans were known as the strongest and what happen the remaining seven clans??? And can you touch on the kof maximum impact saga as well. Kof 2006 was a gem in the ps2 era.
