  • With the Acolyte Finale now out on disney plus aka the acolyte episode 8.....those like Leslye Headland and Kathleen Kennedy have been engaging in damage control over the series for disney and lucasfilm as the disney plus platform failed to deliver a successful star wars series...with the acolyte rotten tomatoes score already considered a massive failure for lucasfilm.....disney ceo bob iger has been in full panic mode that led to remving headland from various lucasfilm projects and ripping apart her contract deal that included multiple star wars projects such as films and series.

If StarWars did not belong to the fans, it would have died one year after the original Episode 6 hitting the cinema screens. Fans are keeping this franchise alive for decades. I wonder, if Leslye would be brave enough to tell the 501st, that StarWars does not belong to them. Or the thousands of fanfiction writers, who on average make better storyboards than she did with her writer staff.

Stop supporting Disney point blank period at all and they will be forced to actually change or go under. That won’t happen. It isn’t part of his plan. The plan isn’t to make money anymore, exactly. Disney is gigantic and will make money off of hits regardless. The plan is to shove this shit down our kids throats so that when us villainous fans finally die out of the majority of viewership, the children would have grown up on “classics” such as lesbian space witches. Therefore, new indoctrinated audiences arrive to swallow this “content” up akin to a Sarlacc pit.

"Star Wars doesn't belong to (fans), it belongs to the creator"
Leslie Headland is not the creator of Star Wars. She's a caretaker of an intellectual property that the original creator, George Lucas, sold to Disney. She is telling a story set in that world--and every story is a conversation between artist and audience. That the intended AND original audiences rejected that story reflects the work's failure to speak to either audience. This failure is a reflection of the work alone, and not of the audience.
Disney cannot repossess or destroy the decades of stories, memories, and culture surrounding George Lucas's Star Wars. Therefore, while Disney might retain legal ownership, it does not and cannot completely control Star Wars.

Blaming the fans is crazy. For me, this is 100% about the show simply sucking. I have been a Star Wars fan since I saw The Empire Strikes Back when it first came out in the theater. Telling any of us that we aren't real fans is ridiculous. I've been part of this world my whole life. I am sure it's the same for a lot of you. This has been our second reality. Why else would we pour so much time and money into it? It's our other world. We don't always agree on everything, but that's always been a healthy part of it. In this case, I think the problem is that they are changing everything that was ever good about it. In the end, it always came down to the story. This show is just written and executed poorly. You can't just yell at people to make them care. It isn't our faults. We are the audience. We are here for the ride. It's the writer's and directors, that are tasked with creating the next chapter. It's their jobs to make us care.

In exchange for not leaking any dirt she has on any of Disney's dealing with Harvey, or given some dirt to Kennedy; she got the job and $180mil show as hush money. However, she signed on for *A* season with maybe a spoken promise, 'that if successful, more down the line.' It flopped. So she has to beg to keep the spoken promise, which only Kennedy wants to do, but the rest of Disney can't afford to waste money at the moment is keeping to the letter of the contract.

Why do directors like this always assume that they are owed viewership for doing brave and modern political propaganda films?
It doesn't matter what your message is or how morally superior you think it is, If nobody wants to watch it, they just won't
People don't want to watch a film and recontemplate all their values and morals whilst being patronised for looking at the world "with a male gaze". They just want to sit down after work and watch something fun and entertaining.

So, I have a theory. I think Filoni knew exactly how bad the Acolyte is, and that's precisely why he approved it. He knew it was likely going to be the final nail in the coffin of KK's career at Disney, and that Headland can't write or direct to save her life. I think he purposefully approved it to show how bad it is, how DEI and "the message" are the biggest problems at Disney right now, and this is how he wanted to draw attention to them. I think he's playing the long game. If he is, he's smarter than we think. Just my theory.

I know he did that one interview before the Acolyte came out, basically defending the Jedi, but maybe George is really unhappy and giving more feedback behind the scenes. L is basically taking way more jabs at George, more than I would expect if it was her just being mad at how much fans are lauding George and deriding her.

A good writer that wants an audience writes stories that will interest the audience. If she wants to write Star Wars stories that do not appeal to the majority of the Star Wars audience (because the story sucks and the acting sucks… but it includes LGBTQ+ characters), then she can continue to do so. The show won’t make any money… but she is free to do it. If the story was good, the acting was good, and there were LGBTQ+ characters in the show, I’d watch it. But the Acolyte was not that. I’m done with Disney Lucas Film.

People choose to be fans of something. Star Wars developed a huge following in the original trilogy without LGBTQ+ representation, or Mary-Sues. These elements began being added to Star Wars, only after Disney purchased Lucas Films. Since Disney started putting more DEI into Star Wars, it has lost a lot of people who were fans, and the unsold Star Wars merchandise, and lower ratings of Star Wars programs, and reduced box office for theatrical releases, are a reflection of that. There is no point complaining about what the few hard core fans who still care about Star Wars have to say, because that is of no interest to the current Lucas Films leaders. What needs to be done now, is to have a severe reduction in the budgets for future Star Wars films and projects, to reflect the greatly diminished interest in Star Wars.
