    *SUMMARY OF THE VIDEO*
    *Geocentrism and the Quran*
Quran ayah being discussed: Surah Zumar - Ayah 5
"He created the heavens and the earth for a purpose. He wraps the night around the day, and wraps the day around the night. And He has subjected the sun and the moon, each orbiting for an appointed term. He is truly the Almighty, Most Forgiving.:
Does this indicate the sun orbits around the earth?
    - Only way to make this conclusion is to impose the preconceived notion of geocentrism in the Quran
    - It would be easy for a clear verse to suggest the sun goes around the earth
    - In Surah Shams
    - From the anthropocentric perspective, we see the day follow the night and vice versa
    - But in reality, the moon doesn't follow the sun
    - Sun rotates among axis and is in an orbit as well (takes planets/moons in the solar system as well)
    - No hermeneutical acrobatics to come to this conclusion
Quran ayah being mentioned: Surah Anbiya - Ayah 22
"And He is the One Who created the day and the night, the sun and the moon-each travelling in an orbit."
    - Again, there's nothing wrong with this from the heliocentric perspective as both the sun and the moon are in an orbit
Quran ayah being mentioned: Surah Baqara - Ayah 252
"Are you ˹O Prophet˺ not aware of the one who argued with Abraham about his Lord because Allah had granted him kingship? ˹Remember˺ when Abraham said, “My Lord is the One Who has power to give life and cause death.” He argued, “I too have the power to give life and cause death.” Abraham challenged ˹him˺, “Allah causes the sun to rise from the east. So make it rise from the west.” And so the disbeliever was dumbstruck. And Allah does not guide the wrongdoing people."
Their Claim: Earth is stationary and the sun goes around the earth
But consider the 17th ayah of Surah Kahf:
"And you would have seen the sun, as it rose, inclining away from their cave to the right, and as it set, declining away from them to the left, while they lay in its open space. That is one of the signs of Allah. Whoever Allah guides is truly guided. But whoever He leaves to stray, you will never find for them a guiding mentor."
    What is right and left?
    - Useful without a point of reference
    - Even in the stationary earth model, right and left have no meaning without a _specific_ reference point
    - This means it has to be from the anthropocentric perspective (from the perspective of those individuals )
Quran ayah being mentioned: Surah Yaseen - Ayah 40
"It is not for the sun to catch up with the moon, nor does the night outrun the day. Each is travelling in an orbit of their own."
Linguistically, it can be the case that the moon, the sun, and the earth are all in orbit.
Thus, the Quran is a timeless book with a multilayered perspective. It would make sense for those before us and even in today's time, we don't find it against modern cosmology. Overall, this argument needs to be left in the dust bin (--Mohammad Hijab)

Brother, geocentrism's problem is not that the sun revolves around the earth because that isn't a problem whatsoever. Geocentrism is an inaccurate name, probably due to the history of how the name came to be. The problem with the so-called geocentric model is claiming planets revolve around the earth in circular orbits not that the sun revolves around the earth. The thing that people don't note that all motion is relative, you can't say "x is moving" without saying relative to what is it moving. If you chose the sun as the frame of reference, then the earth would be revolving around the sun, the planets would be revolving around the sun, but the moon would be revolving still around the earth [in circles]. While if you chose the earth as the frame of reference, then the sun would be revolving around the earth, the moon would be revolving around the earth, but the planets would be revolving around the sun.
Think of it as if you were levitating over the earth and looked around you at the solar system, you'd see the earth being the frame of reference scenario, while if you were levitating over the sun, you'd see the sun being the frame of reference scenario. This isn't some "physics thing;" this is simply a fact. You can't say something is moving and something isn't without saying relative to what(in everyday life, we assume the frame of reference is a point on earth's surface). So really even if the Quran explicitly says the sun revolves around the earth, that is just as accurate as saying the earth revolves around the sun.

That's wrong, 36:40 doesn't make a relationship between orbit and day and night, it's referring more towards order. If you read the whole passage it's just giving different comparisons regarding how Allah ordered his creation, that the night and day don't overlap suddenly and how each celestial body is in its own path.
Surah As-Shams doesn't even have a 90th verse it's 15 verses long. 21:23 just says "He is not questioned about what he does, but they will be questioned." Honestly where in the world did you get these verses?

If the seven heavens are under the throne of Allah already. Than why did prophet Muhammad asked his companion that: "Do you know where the sun goes at sunset?!"..."it goes underneath the throne of Allah and asks for permission to rise up again. And a day will come where it will not be given permission and it will be said to it (sun) that go back where it came from. And that is when the sun will rise from the West".
And in another hadith prophet Muhammad says that: "Do not perform prayers when the sun rises and when it sets. For, the sun rises between the two horns of the devil and sets between the two horns of the devil".
The other variant of the same sahih hadith says that: "Satan goes and stands in front of a sun at the times of sunset and sunrise to imitate God. So that's why don't pray at these times".
The only problem is that the sun is CONSTANTLY "rising and setting" SIMULTANEOUSLY on someone somewhere.
These 2 above mentioned hadiths can only be true on a Geocentric Flat Earth model. And these hadiths suggest that prophet Muhammad did not knew that the earth is spherical with heliocentric model.
Thus the Quranic verse: Until, when he reached the setting of the sun [i.e., the west], he found it [as if] setting in a body of dark water, and he found near it a people. We [i.e., Allah] said, "O Dhul-Qarnayn, either you punish [them] or else adopt among them [a way of] goodness." - Surah 18 Verse 86
WHY would Allah mention here what Dhul-Qarnayn saw? What was so special here? Think? Except that Muhammad believed that the earth was flat when he was making up the Quran.

Regarding the Devil. It's talking about the polytheistic cultures throughout who used to worship the sun at times like those, it's said that Satan stands in front of them (front of the sun from their perspective), so that them worshiping the sun is actually just worshipping the Devil. However that even is still on Earth.
Also regarding that first Hadith, whenever Allah is mentioned with some interaction to a celestial body like the sun you have to understand that most of it is figurative, and we know this because it's used like that even in the Quran in 22:18 where it says everything in the universe is in prostration to Allah. Now a tree doesn't bend down and put its branches on the ground towards Mecca does it? A lot of this is mentioned to describe their submissiveness towards Allah as those things were worshipped by people previously, it doesn't describe their physical character.

So since geocentric model is also not offered by Islamic scholars, I have resorted to :

It doesn't have to be authored by Muslim scholars to be true, its signs can be observed through even the most basic human observations. And it doesn't contradict the Qur'an by any method of the imagination. Also you have to realize that the Earth is like what? 24,901 Miles in circumference. Since the earth is a sphere using linear methods to calculate it gives the illusion that it's super fast. But really it's a 15° per hour rotation, which is not all that much. Plus it explains seasons, night and day. I believe it is a sign of Allah's work, as He never revealed any verse against it.

Muhammad declared in Quran 31:29: "Don't you see that Allah merges night into day and he merges day into night and he has subjected the sun, and the moon each running its course for a term appointed...?".
But the movement of the sun and moon have nothing to do with day and night -- we get day and night because the earth is spinning!
Again in Quran 39:5, we read:
"He makes the Night overlap the Day, and the Day overlap the Night: He has subjected the sun and the moon (to His law): Each one follows a course for a time appointed."
But the movement of the sun and moon have nothing to do with day and night -- we get day and night because the earth is spinning!
Finally, in Quran 36:40 it is stated: "It is not for the sun to overtake the moon, nor does the night outstrip the day. They float each in an orbit."
But the movement of the sun and moon have nothing to do with day and night -- we get day and night because the earth is spinning!

Quran says as night and day pass, the Sun and Moon float in an orbit AND they do NOT catch up to each other in orbit. That second part implies GEOCENTRISM.
Also, you say that the Sun & Moon have a real orbit: a galactic orbit around the galaxy. But this galactic orbit has nothing to do with the passing of night/day. The verse is explaining what happens when night and day changes, and the Quran proceeds to say the sun and moon swim in an orbit that that does not intersect.
Finally, all the early Muslim Astronomers were geocentrists. None of them were heliocentrist. It wasn’t until centuries later when people started questioning Ptolemy’s model.

    • @michailyaroslav
      @michailyaroslav Před 2 měsíci

It's important to understand that the Quran uses descriptive language that reflects observations from a human perspective. The verse in question (36:40) does not necessarily imply a geocentric model. Instead, it highlights the regularity and harmony of celestial movements.
In science, both geocentric and heliocentric models are valid depending on the reference frame. According to the theory of relativity, there is no absolute frame of reference, meaning the choice between geocentric and heliocentric perspectives is based on convenience and simplicity for calculations. The geocentric model is scientifically valid within its context.
The Quran’s descriptions should be seen as conveying the order and consistency in the universe, not as detailed astronomical models.
Moreover, science itself is iterative and constantly evolving. Theories are validated through repeated observations and experiments, but they remain open to refinement. Criticisms of the heliocentric model by researchers like Robert Sungenis highlight that no scientific model is perfectly valid.
So, implying that the Quran is incorrect because of an assumed geocentric view shows a misunderstanding of both the Quran and science.
      Please educate yourself.

      @michailyaroslav Před 2 měsíci

The claim that geocentrism and heliocentrism are not empirically equivalent is incorrect. In the framework of General Relativity, any point can be chosen as the center of a coordinate system, making geocentric and heliocentric models mathematically interchangeable. Both models can describe planetary motions accurately, but heliocentrism is simpler and more practical. Empirical evidence supports heliocentrism because it provides a more straightforward explanation for observed phenomena like stellar parallax and planetary retrograde motion, not because geocentrism is invalid. Thus, dismissing the equivalence of these models shows a misunderstanding of relativity and the flexibility of reference frames in physics.

If the earth was flat and had a geocentric model then there wouldn't be different timezones, or even seasons. Mountains holding down as pegs does make sense in a spherical Earth due to tectonic plates. All of this is proven, and the Qur'an supports it (again through the fact that the sun has its own separate orbit and that mountains hold down the crust). And Allah knows best.

    BYZANTINE ( ROMAN EMPIRE ) ASTRONOMY FROM A.D. 1300
    EMMANUEL A. PASCHOS
Department of Physics, University of Dortmund, Germany.
”…A Byzantine (Roman), article from the 13th century contains advanced astronomical ideas and pre-Copernican diagrams. The models are geocentric but contain improvements on the trajectories of the Moon and Mercury. This talk presents several models and compares them briefly with the Astronomy of Ptolemy, Arabic Astro nomies of that time and the heliocentric system…”
“……In contrast to Western Europeans "the Arabs had virtually full access to that, Greek, heritage from the eighth century onward. This occurred because of a momentous translation effort whereby the great works of Greece and other cultures were translated in Arabic". Later on (12th and 13th centuries) the classical knowledge was transmitted to Western Europe through Byzantine and Arabic sources and Irish monks who travelled across Europe founding monasteries and scriptoria..….”

Similarly how easy would it be for all of us if allah just had clearly stated about the heliocentric model ......

There s also a verse which says that sun and moon can not overtake each other
Now this is only possible if they are revolving in the same orbit ...

Clarification of the interpretation of erroneous verses regarding the pseudoscientific view of the flat earth (Flat Earth)
Differences in the context of the meaning of the words kholaqo/create (خَلَقَ) and ja'ala/make (جَعَلَ) in the Qur'an.
Kholaqo (خَلَقَ) means more often used in the context of macro "Creation" from the beginning (before any material existed until it came into existence) through the entire process, Kholaqo does not involve the creature's point of view.
In every verse of the Qur'an which relates to events after creation, the word Ja'ala (making) is usually preceded by the word "ja'ala". view of the creatures involved.
Examples of the use of the word "ja'ala":
    Qs. An-naba: 9-11
    9) "We make (ja'ala) your sleep for rest."
    (creature's POV)
    10) "Making (ja'ala) night as clothing" (metaphorically covering the earth with night) (creature's POV)
    11) "Making (ja'ala) the day to earn a living. (creature's POV)
Al Baqarah: 30 about making (ja'ala) the caliph.
The verse that is often misinterpreted as the proof of a flat earth is Surah Taha: 53
"Who has made (ja'ala) for you the earth as an expanse, and has made for you the earth as a place to walk..."
It is as if the earth was created flat, even though that is the interpretation of making the earth for you, namely creatures, especially humans, in this case "making expanses and roads" is from the POV (POINT of VIEW) point of view of creatures on earth, especially humans, not an explanation complete Creation of the Earth (kholaqo).
There is a more complete verse that uses the words "kholaqo and "ja'ala" together but have different meanings, as outlined in Qs Al An'am verse 1, where it explains the creation (kholaqo) of the heavens and the earth and the making (ja'ala) of darkness ( night) and light (day), first the creation of heaven and earth, then making night and day in the POV of earthly creatures.
Examples of using the word "Kholaqo" (creation):
    1) Qs al hud verse 7, "creation of the heavens and the earth"
    2) Qs. an Nur verse 45, "Creation of all living creatures from water" (about the ancient sea)
    3) Qs Al Mukminun, "The process of human creation in the embryological phase"
The majority of verses that contain the phrase the earth is spread out use the verb (جَعَلَ), which means that even if they don't use the word ja'ala, they still consistently refer to the point of view of creatures after the creation of the earth.
The word ja 'ala (جَعَلَ /make) describes events that occurred after creation in a macro way, but some include the description of an event that is bound to involve the condition of being.
The word "expanse" in the Al-Quran has a meaning not about the shape of the flat earth, but from a human point of view when on earth (human POV).
In Surah Al Isra verse 12, Islam explicitly explains the pattern of calculating time according to the heliocentrism calendar.
"And We (جَعَلَ) made the night and the day two signs, then We abolished the sign of the night and We made the sign of the day light, so that you may seek grace from your Lord, and so that you know the number of years and calculations. And We have provided everything explain clearly."
This verse very firmly explains AD (Syamsiyah) and Hijriyah (Qamariyah) calculations which can only be done in heliocentric conditions, not geocentric conditions.

*There are 21 verses that I have collected explaining the creation of the earth with the diction (Kholaqo/creating) without the accompaniment of the Earth being flat or spread out*
Explain the difference in the use of the verb between *ja'ala/make* in the verse that explains "expanse" where the meaning is in the POV (Point of View) of humans/earth creatures, and the verb *kholaqo/create* which is always used in the meaning of right God's perogative in the entire creation process without involving the creature's POV.
      1. Surah Al-An'am (6) Verse 1
      الْحَمْدُ لِلَّه\ ِّهِمْ يَعْدِلُونَ

      @marimo5523 Před 3 lety

@The Visiting Soul So we just have to follow what majority of scholars decide without establishing if what they are saying is true or not? For example, as a Muslim on fitrah, is in't fair for me to read and contemplate the Quran myself then decided which jamaa'a of the scholars is close to what Allah said in the Quran?
For me, I have decided to read the Quran myself and when I was studying it, I stoped in verses that talked about the Heavens and Earth, and I understood from them that the position of Earth in Allah's creation is great and mighty the same as the Heavens, and I also understood from the verses that the Earth is flat and vast and only Allah knows its limit (مفروشة و ممدودة). does that make me a terrorist supporter or an atheist for understanding these verses with my own intellect ?

    • @marimo5523
      @marimo5523 Před 3 lety +1

@The Visiting Soul The verse 21-7. So only if I don't understand something then I should ask those who have knowledge, thats reasonable. If Allah says the sky is blue(not a verse, exp) so I understand the sky is blue, its clear no? if Allah says the Earth is flat so its clear that Allah is telling me the Earth is flat, when he says the sky is a preserved ceiling above you then thats clear to me, there no reason here why I should not take these verses literally.
Because as far as I know, Quran is about the clear signs of Allah and his creation and mentions everything by its name to make things clear for people of anytime don't you agree..? 15-1 ?. ( not including events, laws, and wordy matters in the Quran that needs proper interpretations with transmissions and signs)
but thanks I still need to go back to the mufassirin and thats what they say so I still stick to naql.
For 3-7 Allah says he placed rawasi or mountains on Earth as firms so that it wont swing or move with us, but some say no, Earth is actually spinning and shooting through space can we not apply this verse to them for their contradiction with Quran? or maybe if they are scholars, we cant?

From Sahih Bukhari, we read this statement:
Statement 1) "The Prophet said 'None of you should flog his wife as he flogs a slave and then have sexual intercourse with her in the last part of the day.'"
Now Muhammad could have instead given us this statement:
Statement 2) "None of you should flog his wife, none of you should flog a slave, and none of you should own a slave."
So the Big Question for you, Silkin, is: "Which statement is wiser, Statement 1 or Statement 2?
Having surrendered your brain to Muhammad, you will, of course, answer that Statement 1 is wiser. So then, explain why you believe Statement 1 is wiser.

Points that aren't addressed in the video:
    1) why does the Quran mentions the orbit of the sun in the same verse where the phenomenon of day and night are explained? If it is not referring to geocentrism?
    2)
It is not for the sun to overtake the moon, nor does the night outstrip the day. They float each in an orbit." (36:40)
What is the need of mentioning sun doesn't overtake the moon when their orbits are not even close or similar to each other? Are they in a race with each other or what?
This clearly depicts the ancient geocentric model that sun and moon are in an orbit around the earth and they are in race with each other but they never overtake each other.
This also indicates that the author of the Quran didn't knew that solar eclipses occur by the overlapping/overtaking of sun and moon.
So this verse is factually wrong even from the human's perspective.
    3) And a sign for them is the night. We remove from it [the light of] day, so they are [left] in darkness. And the sun runs on to a term appointed for it; that is the ordinance of the Mighty, the Knowing.(36:37-38)
This verse explains how the formation of night takes place. It says that the light is removed so that we are left in darkness. And in the immediate next verse it says that the sun runs towards it appointed term.
So this verse is clearly attributing the orbit of sun with the phenomenon of day and night.

    • @lightyagami8876

@Zeeshan ISI yeah, you are absolutely wrong.
      1)
And a sign for them is the night. We remove from it [the light of]day, so they are [left] in darkness. And the sun runs [on course]toward its stopping point. That is the determination of the Exalted inMight, the Knowing. (36:37-38)
And He subjected for you the sun and the moon, continuous [in
orbit], and subjected for you the night and the day. (14:33)
And it is He who created the night and the day and the sun and the
moon; all [heavenly bodies] in an orbit are swimming. (21:33)
Do you not see that Allah causes the night to enter the day and
causes the day to enter the night and has subjected the sun and the moon, each running [its course] for a specified term, and that Allah, with whatever you do, is Acquainted? (31:29)
He causes the night to enter the day, and He causes the day to enter the night and has subjected the sun and the moon - each running [its course] for a specified term. (35:13)
It is not allowable for the sun to reach the moon, nor does the night
overtake the day, but each, in an orbit, is swimming. (36:40)
All these verses mentions the orbit of sun while explaining the formation of day and night.
None of these verses mentions the word "yukawwiru". This word is mentioned only in one verse 39:5 which also mentions the orbit of sun. The word wrap (yukawwiru) here could be referring to the wrapping of day and night over the hemispherical dome like sky (as seen from our perspective).
There is no mention of rotation of earth here. Stop lying.

Unfortunately, these explanations of confusing Quran verses bring up more questions than answers:
Why didn't God in his *one and only perfect eternal holy book* state plainly that the Earth is a revolving sphere rotating around the Sun???
Why didn't God preserve the Quran in Muhammad's Qurayshi Arabic down to the dot like Muslims were told for over 10000 years???
Why didn't God preserve world-wide records of Muhammad splitting the moon 1400 years ago???
Was it really necessary for Muhammad to consummate his desire for Aisha the nine year old before she entered puberty???
WHY NOT just admit the Quran is obviously man-made and start over again on equal footing with other religions???
You're going to get into intellectual trouble and turn the smartest people away from Islam when you try to pass off a man made 7th century text as ''written by God''.

God could have given us an entire science text book if he desired.
But it’s not just about “oh look, this book has science must be from god!”
The test of Islam is about character as well. Sincerity and good character.
If the test became too overpowering to reject it wouldn’t be much of a test, may as well have God himself just talk to us. It’s not a science test. It’s a test of reflection and character. Only after purifying your character and heart can you attain faith and see the truth.

the perspective stuff is fine.... but the rest of you're argument is well rubbish. You didn't dispel or argue against the claim of geocentrism, you just said "welll... there's another explanation". You forced the heliocentric model JUST AS MUCH as anyone forced the geocentric one, if not more. The only difference here is that before the revelation and after people believed the geocentric model. Then by default it makes sense to assume the geocentric model unless there is some clear evidence to point to your explanation. The only way to reach your conclusion, is to start with the assumption that the Quran must be correct, and then only take the most correct justification we can find. We call that type of reasoning circular.
