the small details in this movie are so good like:
-georgina spills the tea in the beginning because missy accidentally clinks her spoon against a glass
-walter is running bc he (the grandpa) can’t get over his loss to jesse owens at the olympics
-chris saves himself from picking cotton (a thing often done by slaves)
-jeremy talks about mma fighting, chris says he did jiujitsu (where you have to be one step ahead of the other person) at dinner. when jeremy tackles chris at the end chris tries to open the door a few times he knew (being a few steps ahead) that jeremy would keep kicking the door closed. giving chris the opportunity to stab him in the leg
-also everyone’s lobotomy scars are hidden by wigs (georgina) or hats (walter and andre) they are never seen without them on (unless their guise is busted already)

The "black is in" is a form of racism. It's thinking of a black person as an object, a fad, and wanting to be apart of that fad without understanding or respecting the culture they think is "cool". Those type of people will stereotype black people as being cool simply because they're black and automatically thinking they have talent in rap, athletics, dancing, etc. Peele wanted to show this form of racism in this movie. It's not cultural appropriation in that line. It's quite the opposite.

In order to save himself from slavery/bondage he had to pick cotton, and even more interesting the scene with the cop...she defended Chris because if the cop put his license information in the system it would have left a paper trail for someone to follow.

This is one of the rare cases where I would say the "satisfying" ending is superior to the "realistic" ending. Any audience after sitting through this entire film would be already on the edge of sanity by the time the last fight happens, and having the actual police show up and lock the main character up for the rest of his life would have put this movie on the same level as "The Road'" from a nihilistic standpoint. Can you imagine how hard that decision must have been to make for Peele? So anyone who watched the deleted scenes/alternate ending knows that the original cut ended exactly as I described, with Chris in court and being sentenced to jail for brutally murdering a while family. So put yourself in Jordan's shoes for a second. You have just finished directing a movie that you know is going to be powerful as hell, but also has to entertain the majority of the standard American movie going crowd. So the question is, do you choose the realistic ending where the audience's "hero" goes to jail on bullshit murder charges you know he wouldn't have a chance in hell of defending himself against, or do you risk stretching the audience's suspension of disbelief and go with the satisfying and slightly comedic ending where his TSA buddy finally shows up? Talk about a tough decision man... especially for your first feature film. You have my respect Jordan Peele, and I hope to have the opportunity to watch more of your work in the future!

    Also:
    1. Their insistence that Chris stop smoking was so he would make for a cleaner vessel.
    2. Chris is an amateur photographer and had his camera on him, but he used his cellphone to snap a photo of Dre, because cellphones have been important to truth revealing of racism in recent years.
    3. Chris is drawn to Jim - the blind guest at the party, because everyone else seems to be obsessed with his race. He assumes he can relax with Jim. However even though Jim isn’t racist, he’s “color blind” we come to see that being “unable to see color” doesn’t mean you’re not capable of aiding and abetting racism.

You guys noticed the prevalence of the deer symbolism but had a hard time figuring out its relevance. It is connected to slavery.
“Buck” and “doe” were animalistic terms used for enslaved people. Abductors would refer to them by these terms when selling them, communicating with other enslavers in the market, catching and trafficking runaways, and really enslaved men and women in general.
This dehumanization of Black people further justified treating them as livestock. A staple part of chattel slavery.
Like the deer Chris hit, his mother was also left to die. Kind of like a “good riddance.” This is again referred back to when Chris used the deer head to fight back and decided to go back to save the possessed maid. He couldn’t accept the guilt of simply leaving her to die like his mother was or the deer.
