all the people complainng about the cars breaking so easily... the most parts are just for the aerodynamics, they break off easily and are lightweight so you can change them during the race, the driver is protected through a cage inside the car and only that thing is extremely durable
The parts are also meant to break off easily in the event of a crash so as to diffuse energy as gradually as possible. If the cars were to stay together too much during an impact then more force would be transmitted to the cockpit.
Jeffrey Edwards, yeah they are not safer. Then why do the drivers routinely walk away from crashes at over 100 miles an hour, where the car has been completely destroyed, without a scratch? Thank you for playing!
Holy s**t that last one was a hard hit as was the second last one. They're all lucky to survive. I miss the old days of the DTM with the aero body work. The way it is now just isn't the same
bernd mayländer's incident is one of many grate related incidents in shanghai his in 2004, and then mark winterbottom and jpm in 2005. they hit the same grate i think, although frosty ended up far worse out of it because the grate sliced through the floor, putting him out for the weekend.
Thank You DTM for making posting these races. It is impossible to see these full length races through my local cable provider. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Or perhaps you are missing the point? They are designed to break in collisions so that the full force of the impact is dispersed among the cockpit engine and rear compartments. It's for the safety of the driver not the car....
In this season ALL the ******* Audis kicked the BMW's out and I think Mike Rockenfeller's win was undeserved , because of the last Pitstop in Oschersleben was a unsafe release the BMW had to brake , and if he wouldn't maybe now the Master would be Farfus , BUT Mike a this season a REALLY GOOD CAR! they buildt this year a very very very good car.
For all of you experts out there who say the cars brake so easy into pieces, grab a book of physics and study about energy. They are meant to do this because a huge amount of the impact force is escaping with these parts, they dispose the energy, thus the the remaining though carbon fibre made chassis can take less force during the impact that would cause bigger problems. Also they have a very very strong reinforced steel frame as you can see in crash #2, this keeps the driver safe, if you google road car accidents you will see some horrible pictures from cars that look more like something a pile of metal rather than a car. The driver of the normal car was killed or trapped by bent roof doors etc. I am not god damn Niki Lauda nor Einstein, nor the best educated person but at least before you say something do a research and then say it.
In addition to that, he was also one of the 2 drivers who hit Tom Kristensen in the 2007 crash at Hockenheim which is also featured in the video and had to sit out the next race due to his injuries, making Susie Wolff the only driver involved who didn't have to sit out at least one race as a consequence of that crash
... and I bet Alex Prémat was still happy after that roll. He's the happiest Frenchman that I have ever seen. Also, knowing nothing about DTM, that "interstate" Audi seems to feature a lot... I guess he's the class's crash test dummy?
Bugatti Veyron doesn't stand a chance against a DTM racecar. Horsepower are more or less the same but the DTM racecar weighs less than half and is far more extreme for what suspension, tires, clutch and brakes are concerned. Putting the same gear ratio of the Veyron, which is a street car made so you can also park in the supermarket or in your favorite club parking, on a DTM racecar would probably have it reach 450-500 Km/h depending on aerodynamic setup.
There are two definitions: - The old DTM was Deutsche Tourenwagen Meisterschaft (German Touring Car Championship), it was sanctioned as a Meisterschaft (Championship) by the German Authorities. - The new DTM is called Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters (German Touring Car Masters), and it's called that way because, like the failed ITC, it includes more races outside of Germany. It's because of this that the German Authorities don't sanction this category as a Meisterschaft anymore.

Haan, yes
Still ongoing, sigh
All I can say is, thank heaven for racetrack safety. That tire barrier in #5 saved the lives of 4 track marshals.

Wow, DTM really imroves itself with all these great Uploads.

5:50 (#3) Kristensen tries to be a hero and save it, but actually makes things worse by keeping his foot in it.
Watched a similar situation in the Formula 1 race at Barcelona earlier this year
Easy to say afterwards but when ur racing and have a incident but recover ur 1 thought is to get back in the race
Very similar to Romain Grosjean at the Spanish GP, 2018.
Martin Berg The number 1 thought should be safety.
He should've never raced again. First rule is to not create a danger situation on track.

They're designed to do that - all of the stuff coming of absorbs the energy of the impact and protects the driver. Same in most high-end motorsports.
Krasser Beschuldigter nie erlebt der Satz war richtig heftig
Isn't Peter Dumbreck the guy that flew out of Le Mans in the Mercedes?
What did the guy hit in clip #9? Was it a man hole cover?
Is it by design that the body panels come off easily when crash (especially the doors, most of them lost their door)?
yea the the driver can get out if its on fire
Yes. It disperses the energy. And driver can get out.
VERY CRAZY ,AWESOME..
1. Why is that flagged as spam? That isn't spam.
2. I think you'll find in a GT3 or GTE Car more stock parts as in a DTM Car.. :D
