Not a single shot fired in anger, and I didn't stop grinning ear-to-ear the entire time. That was entirely TOO much fun! Well done, boys!
That why I’m joining the GR Patreon. I’m having so much fun watching it should probably be considered obscene.
Seeing that A10 land was a treat.
that first A-10 landing has to be one of the best damn landings i've ever seen lol if that were to happen in real life, you'd be able to hear the pilot yelling, "'MURICA!!!" from the other side of the carrier 🤣
It wouldn't be a Grim Reapers video without burning planes, a carrier on fire and lots of boom boom. Laughed so hard. Well done guys.
That was a most enjoyable half hour I've spent on YT in a long time. Well done, boys.
I love that the A-10 have to use their cannons to slowdown, this was super fun
More of that please. Super fun to watch!
6:46 "OH NOOoo..." The cut-off is so good!! 🤣
I love the Viggen making a picture perfect landing without any damage while everyone else is exploding.
This was fun to watch. You guys had a blast! I enjoyed the opening where Cap was describing what the boys were going to do and the boys were attempting landing and doing silliness. When the A-10 landed and went BBBRRRRRRTTTT, Cap without missing a beat said "Really?" That made me laugh out loud! Great fun fellaas! Video Valued by Valued Viewer - Fly Army 🚁
The carrier contests are my favorite GR shenanigan videos. Always hilarious.
The intro was just pure gold!
Cap: "I don't like to blow my own trumpet, as you all know by now". 🤣That guy is just friggin' hillarious!
Viggen is amazing at EVERYTHING 💪😎
Hahahaha the A10 pilot trying to break with the GAU 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
i love it how Cap is trying to introduce the challenge and everyone is crashing in the background
I had not so much fun in a long time
It's hard to do, especially without the extra knots of a moving ship. I landed a 737 on one in a different sim. I had thrust reverse, full brake on buttons on the stick and a bunch of flap. Took several tries. I believe I set headwinds a bit higher as well.
The carrier speed benifits the plane makes it easier, if the landing speed is 120kts, and the carriers moving at 35kts, the new trapping speed is 85kts.
So much silly fun... it's a wonder you guys don't get taxxed for having that much fun! GR Life
Fun tax? Eek
This was AWESOME! If you want a real challenge, do Jupiter mode but with the carrier moving at 40 kts
I always look forward to the random skill competitions the most, watching you all tackle things in your own special way is a blast.
That was the best intro sequence on any GR video EVER! XD
Oh, this video will be interesting... don't know who will win this.
Hey GS, I had a random scenario pop into my head the other day, 3v3 carrier battle, Chinese 001, 002, and 003 against US and UK with Nimiz or Ford, Queen Elizabeth, and America.
Just thought I would share it in the comments.
Cap, you played every round of this with your canopy jettison lever blocking your throttle, limiting your thrust to below mil power. Your mix of incompetence and skill always manages to amaze me lol.
OMG, when I heard that player go "Come on!" "Oh Shit!" as they fell off the carrier I laughed so hard!
I won one of these like a year ago and something interesting I learned is that it starts easy, gets harder with a mild cross wind, but then easy again when the crosswind airspeed gets higher. Everything slows down and by the final one we basically vtol'd the landing.
The intro or cap trying to explain what’s going one while the boys are trying to land in front of him is the best intro ever
If ever im on a flight and for some reason the pilot was out of commission I would be praying one of yall was there,.... crazy skillz GR
Awesome video! Keep up the good videos! You have some of the best sims I’ve ever seen on here!
I binge watched your videos all day yesterday! 🤙🏻
"Is it allowed to do belly landings?"
Cap : "no"
"aw"
Me: does a back landing
Brilliant flying Super Cap!!!
You guys are too damned good at flying. You need a real challenge. Can you land an SR-71 on a carrier?
I just subscribed and been enjoying your videos. This one though had me laughing way too much. More with the reactions of the pilots that landed. Great video my friends.
Proper Russian/German landings, well-done, boys!
Edit: “This isn't going to work,” proceeds to land the plane upside down. 😆😆😆
That was Really Fun to watch! And I am sure it must have a been a real joy to actually do that Stuff.
ooooo only 2 hrs after posting. I'm early! New GR shenanigans! Fantastic way to start a Monday!
Thanks Cap and crew!
Outstanding video! That was a LOT of fun to watch. Not sure I am ready to try anything remotely like that.
LMAO... I think my favorite part was the "Downstairs" landings(forget the correct term for the below deck Parking Area).. Those Vertical/Hover Landings were Priceless (F-16🚁)
✈🛩Want to thank y'all for HOURS of entertainment🤠✌🤓
You should do one with low visibility and a turning carrier
gits....just sat here watching you guys doing this and i should be practising so I can join in....still laughing along though
Oh my aching fantail! Following the proper glideslope, I would imagine some of those planes would come to a halt because their landing gear would collapse and their fuselage would be scraping the nonskid.
Pure joy on a Monday..Fantastic
One of the best videos Ive seen recently but enjoy all of them
Landing competition in a cloud of drones.
Gnat Attack 😁
Keep it up, it's enjoyable watching your videos.
Super fun one!
OMG this is entertainment lol!
This was great fun!
Great video! I'd love to see this with even less appropriate aircraft: C-130, B-1, SR-71, B-17, P-51...the possibilities are endless.
CRAZY - and Super Fun!! 😂😂😂
Great fun to watch 10/10
I would love to have videos of an experienced pilot being a Rio and teaching a newbie like myself the ins and outs of the f14. Then have a handful of groups that are being trained do missions together or against each other. Would really make good videos. And fun competition for the new pilots and to see who the better trainer is.
Most enjoyable GR ever and CZcams can't "do a thing" ABOUT IT, SO THERE YT, PHHHHT!!!
Imagine if the RAF went for a naval Eurofighter.
That was awesome
now what would be really cool is seeing a fight in Jupiter weather Grim Reapers
That was fun!
I always wanted to fly the "Game Master" 😀
Welp i didnt expect to see a vtol f-16 today
Hey cap just started dcs thanks for all the tips and tutorials
Welcome.
I couldn't stop laughing. Haven't watched anything this fun in a while. GG!
that was great you guys . . .
Someone needs to make a game model of the Langley CV-1, and then have the Grim Reapers try landing on that with modern jets.
this is almost like watching a nascar crash but this time its framed like a talent show
XD
Love the chaos in the intro guys😂
That was a good laugh. More please.
Love these Cap
You guys should do these in f18s, 6 amrams 2 sidewinders 2 externals. 50% fuel. lol
Nice job everyone! Well… maybe not everyone. Mostly Cap & also Poosh in the SU-25. Great video though! 😂
Great fun.
Get that carrier moving
Does the F-5 hook still work on carrier? tried once many times and it didnt traped even once... but saw GR doing it in the past
Ridiculousness. Flybywire is always on fire, since the first time I ever flew with him🤣
This video had me in a fetal position with joyous laughter. Look dad it's a helicokter!
Need a recording of cap saying “oh really” when the mother in law rings 😅
I must have missed it on a previous episode but why do you guys toss the canopy when landing?
Epic
Loved the "verdammt!" 🙃
I feel like he non-naval plane wih a hook has a advantage. Especially when Jigsaw and his Spitfire are misssing.
"gretta will be happy" hahahahahha ... i heard it cap .
So many canopies floating round on the ocean.
I still can't land on a carrier on a good day with the proper planes so great job boys you're doing better then me lmao
Hilarious! Epic! Original! Typical GR!
I think you guys crashed more F-16N's than were ever built.
Hang on - isn’t the spitfire carrier based? (Or at least, was used on carriers with minimal modification)
The Supermarine Seafire is a naval version of the Supermarine Spitfire adapted for operation from aircraft carriers. It was analogous in concept to the Hawker Sea Hurricane, a navalised version of the Spitfire's stablemate, the Hawker Hurricane. The name Seafire was derived from the abbreviation of the longer name Sea Spitfire
Next test.. 2 planes, 1 with canopy 1 without.
Full power, who runs out of juice first / gets farther / faster
You should have all come in for a formation landing the last bit.
Love these funny videos for a change of flavor.
13:15 that is a Blues Brothers landing!
26:19 NEEEEIIINN
There’s a certain point where the excessive wind makes it easier to stick the landing… sideways
Finally Ello is back!
Works the way it is supposed to. Just Good
Have you guys tried seeing how big of a plane that you can land on a carrier. C-130`s, B`17`s B-1`s and planes like that.
Carrier Ops, or Carrier… OOPS? Hahaha 😂
Next time shoot the guns as you land. Master arm: ON.
One need to do it with the C130J mod
Not sure it if violates the spirit of the rule, but I'm surprised at the lack of A29.
That last round showed how nice it is to be able to hover in marshal.
The hooks on carrier-capable aircraft are held down by hydraulics to help prevent hook-skips; I don't know if other aircraft with hooks have that same thing since they've got more room to catch a hook, and while flying what I assume are shallower glide slopes. I'm going to give this a try using the F-86. It obviously doesn't have a hook, but the Navy adopted the basic aircraft (I think with slightly longer wings) so the approach should be fairly similar.
You all know about the 1963 tests with a C-130 on Forrestal, and many of you know about the U-2 flights from the Kitty Hawk and Ranger. Some of the U-2s were modified to have tailhooks from T-2s, and there were a few different U-2 variations used. Thinner arresting gear cables were used to minimize vibrations through the airframes.
Several commercial aircraft were proposed as CODs - the Fokker F28 (abandoned because it would have been a mother Fokker to land), the C-9 (the Navy's version of a McDonald Douglas DC-9, which was in service as an ordinary transport),, Boeing 727s and 737s It's my understanding that a big reason none of these was used was because having one downed for maintenance would severely impact other flight activities. www.airlinereporter.com/2014/05/airliners-landing-aircraft-carrier-oh-yes/
Pneumatic pressure, not hydraulics; and yes, most non-USN aircraft use similar systems to force the "hook point" down. Not perfect (you still get hook skips), but not if you maintain nose up attitude. Normally 3 degree glide slope. Secret is to maintain proper ATTITUDE (use amber donut AOA indexer) throughout the pass and power to maintain the glide slope (reverse power curve). Fun video reminding me how much I didn't appreciate the difficulty of what I was doing for 10 years. Definitely a "young person's game."
@@andymillon7964 Thanks for the clarification on how the hook is kept forced down. I may have known at some time that it was pneumatic.... or I may not have. I just can't remember if I forgot.
We had a MAD boom stuck in the out position in a Viking one time and we had to fly the approach a little fast. According to NATOPS it would have been 14 alpha or less. I wasn't a pilot (I was a mostly clueless SENSO - they taught us very little about flight concepts, navigation concepts, aviation procedures, or even radio procedures - the only way we could talk on the radio was through some workaround that I don't remember) so I don't know if it was compensated by a change in glide slope.
I would have expected the A-10's active braking system to perform better.
19:57 that beautiful A-10 floating in air like an eagle soaring along the ridge of a…did I say eagle? I meant seagull. Floating on the side of a shark boat feasting on the filthy stinking chum.
