    Hey Dante, great video… Are you at all concerned about putting your steak on a nonstick surface inside your air fryer? I have the same type of basket air fryer and I put my food on an oven safe glass plate when I use my air fryer. What’s your thoughts?

    • @FerrignoFreedom
      @FerrignoFreedom  Před měsícem +5

      I am. This is where I am with it at the moment. The Dreo uses the newest and highest quality non-stick coating that’s been updated since all the PFOA concerns arose. Does that make it perfect, no, but neither are the options for stainless steel. I have encouraged the manufacturer to make a stainless steel option, and I will continue to do so. Until then or somebody makes a similarly functioning air fryer with stainless steel, I can’t see myself using anything else I’ve found.

    Same sentiment here! Reverse osmosis water filtration, bamboo toothbrush with boar bristles, 100% cotton clothing, bison tallow unscented bar soap, metal straws, glass food storage, bleach free butcher paper, cast iron and ceramic plates. Can’t escape the plastic world we live in but minimizing what touches our skin and what we ingest helps. Dr Berry’s vids have been real helpful.

    Great video, Dante. With all the contaminants and toxins in our environment in can certainly be overwhelming, and tempting to just shrug our shoulders and say they can't be completely eliminated, and of course that is true. And while we shouldn't become obsessed and anxious about the situation, a rational, common sense attempt to minimize our exposures is a brilliant idea, and will give God's elegant design of the immune systems in our bodies a better chance at eliminating what remains. Balance, peace, and harmony.

The only differences are I replaced the bowls with ceramic Ramekins, so they can do double duty as cookware and serving bowls. Also, I went with a wooden spatula, so I can use it in cast iron to non-stick pans. I also like stainless steel, like a stainless steel straw that will hold up without disintegrating before I finish the drink. Just this week replaced my ice cube trays with silicone. Its also easier to get the ice cubes out.

    Great information! I would also suggest that if you are replacing things for metal, try to find stainless steel or cast iron (preferably made in USA) over aluminum. It can be hard to find. I only shop for that stuff at thrift stores. It does take some time. But it is worth it! I have slowly replaced almost everything in my kitchen. My kids do still use paper plates sometimes. • @FerrignoFreedom
      @FerrignoFreedom  Před měsícem +2

      I appreciate the heads up. I know your heart is in the right place, however, recycling is something I’ve researched a lot in my life.
      It sounds great, but honestly recycling is a scam. In the end the process is far worse for the environment than if we’d just burned the stuff. I’m not saying that’s the solution either. It’s more a matter of realizing many of these plastics that are made to be disposable are just poison looking for a place to rot; especially the ones with all the colors and dyes in them.
      The key would be to stop making them, but it’s all a part of the attempt to hide inflation by cheapening our goods to keep prices down in the presence of insane fiscal policy. That issue would also need for be tackled to bring back common sense packaging options. I could go on and on down this rabbit hole, but in the end I don’t see any solutions forthcoming to deal with all this.
      Meanwhile, I’m doing what I can to reduce my use of packaged goods that use all the dyes and colorings needed for marketing by buying fresh meat, and when I can hunting my own game.

I recently bought these pricey ceramic-coated aluminium frying pans, and now I‘m just not sure (even with no scratches) what kind of chemicals are leeching into the food. All of these non-stick materials were invented in the last 50-60 yrs. And all of our biggest health issues also started increasing. Someone once said to me, ask the top chef at the best restaurants in the world, what cookware do they use - then you‘ll probably be getting the best quality.

      I have a couple of Matfer carbon steel pans, 9 1/2" and 11". They are not that expensive and have no rivets where the handle joins to the pan. Like cast iron, they have to be seasoned but once that is done and you cook with butter or oil, etc. they are effectively non-stick. I use the smaller pan for eggs and the larger pan when frying larger cuts of meat.

    • @FerrignoFreedom
      @FerrignoFreedom  Před měsícem +2

      The ChefMaker uses a newer non-stick coating than the original teflon, and it’s the highest quality (doesn’t flake apart like the cheap stuff). That’s where the big danger is with non-stick coating IMO. Nonstick coated cookware is so ubiquitous it’s hard to avoid on my budget, but I’m trying to swap out the pots and pans for cast iron or stainless. The hard part for me is I have such a hard time cooking on stainless pans, and though I see people who clean cast iron relatively easily, it’s still a process I’m not accustomed to. I’m slowly adjusting to it though. Time is my most valuable commodity these days by far, so it’s a real process of retraining my brain.

      It is the newest and highest quality non-stick coating that’s been updated since all the PFOA concerns arose. Doesn’t make it perfect, but neither are the options for stainless steel. I have encouraged the manufacturer to make a stainless steel option, and I will continue to do so. Until then or somebody makes a similarly functioning air fryer with stainless steel, I can’t see myself using anything else.

    It's just a theory but i think micriwaving the plastic causes the breakdown byt uf you just use to store and not cook in it's safer. Wrap food in a dye free napkin ir paper towel before placing in the container

    How are you doing on the iodine tablets?

      Using drops again now, but I’ll take the tablets if I run out of drops. I do about 20 mg of drops. The liquid is good for getting the vapors into your sinus cavity from what I’ve studied. I even use a couple drops in my netty pot water when my allergies are flaring up like the do in pollen season. I still don’t use antihistamines anymore though. 😎👍🏽
