  • My 1959 Barbie in a Box Costume...
I was doing a quick video before loading it in the car and noticed that I FORGOT to paint the brown shoes for Golden Girl and Evening Splendor, so I had to get the paint and brush out to do the shoes and didn't have enough time to re-do the video.
This costume was a hit out on the streets and at the parties, my friend that I spent the night with was very shocked at the responses from the masses, how it made them feel incredibly happy!! Even a couple of homeless people were smiles from ear to ear telling me how their sisters had these Barbies... That's what I heard all night long. One Guy was soooo in love with my costume and knew everything! I still feel good from all the responses, and my friend LOVES to tell everyone about how everyone wanted photos taken with me he felt a little left out, but I asked him to be my KEN doll in a box, but thought that was cheesy.
The cracks in the sideways when standing in a line were more work than I would have expected. But the outdoor wooden decks were the worst in the Barbie Mules and my toes are finally back to normal after about 4-5 hours in those shoes.
Don't go to crowded locations in a big boxed costume, cause you become the SUV of humans and they want to push you out of the way, I confronted the one guy (in a Bar) that tried the push me to move faster and when I turned around to tell him to Back Off, he backed down quick. Guess he didn't expect a Barbie Doll to turn around and push back! Fun though!!
    BTW:
This is a U-Haul Wardrobe Box cut into half and spray painted with paints from Home Depot (White Primer and Gloss White finish) and System3 Acrylic Water Base Paints from Micheal's Craft Store. I measured Ten inches for the side of the box so to get good size graphics. Any narrower the graphics get puny looking.
Enjoy and hope this inspires you to something like this box.
