They played wayy worse than the leafs and only scored when caught the flyers off Guard a little but apart from the that the Bruins sucked that game. Toronto played pretty well and had a few chances only being stopped because columbus is really good and had outstanding defense and goalkeeping. The leafs also played very good defense especially defending the empty net when they had to. The reason the leafs lost was not because they were bad but because columbus was the better team on the night and that's it. Both teams played very well and played an entertaining game probably one of the best games of the playoffs so far. So as you can see you don't know what you are talking about.

For the life of me I just cant figure out why they went with Matthews Hyman Nylander and Tavares Marner Soup. Marner and Matthews were great together offensively and Tavares and Nylander started to find each other in the end of the season. So much better chemistry

Why even be a Leafs fan, just nonstop cycle of being dogshit, then a ton of optimism that this team will be different, and then SURPRISE! same dogshit team somehow. How. How can they still be so bad after so long. We get 1OA for the first time in forever, draft a generational player, finally get a solid goalie, sign another generational player... still can't even beat the fucking columbus blue jackets. This team makes me hate my favorite sport. At least in the Olympics I could cheer for a winning team, now Bettman took that away too. If this game brings me zero happiness, why do I even bother watching anymore. The one time I remember actually being happy, happy that finally we could put the losing behind us, happy that we finally slayed our demons, happiness after all the pain, and then somehow it all turns on a dime into the worst pit of misery in the teams' history with the greatest playoff collapse in the history of the sport. Cheering for this team has actually emotionally damaged me I think. Watching them just leaves me bitter and angry. Winning games doesn't even feel good anymore like when I was a kid, it just feels not awful. I thought Torts out-coached Keefe. There's no question who's in charge of the Jackets team. Leafs panicked and shortened their bench way too early. They had no shots at the end because they were gassed. Marner looks scared to be hit so he usually got the puck off his stick pretty quickly. I agree shoot more but you have to admit Korpisalo had a great game. Your total re-build theory looks interesting if Leafs get 1st pick.
I don’t know why everyone is surprised by the first games back for most of the high-octane teams. Scoring is about jump and timing; defence is about structure, buy-in, and trusting your line mates. Which is likelier to be off following an extended time off? All things considered, the Leafs played well, but Columbus dictated the play. If they are going to beat the Jackets, they will have to make Columbus adapt to them - not because the Leafs can’t play that way, but because it’s not instinctive for them. When one team is consciously thinking about what they should do and the other team is playing on instinct, the team that is thinking will lose.
Leafs Nation, no CBJ/Toronto match up is complete for me until I watch Steve's commentary. Great job as always. Yes, we won, but we in Columbus know heart-ache too and know better than to count out what is arguably a higher-skilled team in the Leafs after a one win. It's just game 1, I'm relishing the victory, but the series is far from over and the Leafs will not go down easily. Leafs have long been my 2nd favorite NHL team. Feels good to be watching hockey again. Missed the Wings annual trip to Phoenix and a trip to Calgary for The Battle was scrapped (and Air Canada won't refund my money for a service they canceled). It has been a disaster 5 months.
