Hoon, it may have been beneficial for newbies that are carrying out this procedure to ensure they adjust the lock nut on the piston shaft (rod) to maximise the piston throw, i.e. you want maximise how far the piston comes down without hitting the shower screen, and therefore maximising displacement. Also when the piston is out for lubing, to check the piston is nice and tight. Those with the plastic type pistons more so, can on occasion suffer from the piston gradually unscrewing, which on post millennium models, can cover the water inlet hole to the cylinder, and wonder why they are getting short shots.

Thanks! Nice to see this is fairly straightforward maintenance that can be done yourself.

Yep! My main maintenance issue is the silicon gasket between the group head (steam leaks) and the boiler.since you have to buy the entire set, I re-gasket everything each time that silicon gasket goes south.
I also took a 2" paintbrush and cut off the handle, to clean around the group head, to clear out all of the residual grounds. My maintenance intervals are a little longer...
My main complaint with the La Pavoni is the nut that holds the boiler to the base. It loosens up and requires a custom made spanner wrench to retighten...

Good video, but make sure to adjust the piston throw by backing the bottom nut off a quarter turn, before putting the (top) lock nut on, when reassembling. Otherwise your piston will make contact with your shower screen.

it was very helpful, took me a little more time as a first timer, but got it done at 20 minutes

Great video!! One question - would the lubricant get into my coffee? I got a new La Pavoni machine and was trying to clean it by flushing water out, and every cup of water is light yellow and has a thin film of grease. Is that the lubricant? And is it normal to have lubricant in your coffee? It also smells so I’m not sure if it’s food grade coz I looked it up and seems that food grade lubricant is odorless. Thank you!

Says: "I'm just gonna press down nice and easy".
Proceeds to put the whole body weight for some extra nice and easy.
Great video though :) Thank you!

Beginning at 5:37 there should have been a adult advisory warning.
