      You are so welcome. 😁I have already purchased another one to use for next year. I'm hoping to have a trap out mid June next year and hopefully that will draw them in and they will stay away from my plants. This product really does work well. It trapped hundreds of them that would have been eating on my plants. Thanks for watching.

I did set out two of them this year, with the lure facing outward, and they have worked great once again. I wonder if facing it inward is to help protect the lure, because it still works great outward. Maybe I'll try facing it inward like the directions say to next year, and see if it makes a difference. Thanks for watching. 🙂

    Regardless how the lure is set it's potent no matter what, just make sure the bag is set right and straighten the top edges, also the bag's middle part is rather narrow so check your traps to make sure it hasn't clogged.
    These traps are amazing, I had beetles flying in as soon as I set it up, I'm gonna follow with milky spore in the fall to try and contain this pest.

  • @CatsMeowington
    @CatsMeowington Před 2 lety +2

    First thanks for your two videos on this that I watched before coming back to Part 1 to comment. I read the instructions, assembled the trap and placed it outside BEFORE watching your videos. The instructions are hard to read and as usual not very good but much better than none. In step 2, the lure is to be placed with the open side facing INWARDS. This would help the lure from the elements and would probably last longer. However, placing the lure as you did obviously works, so inward or outward the trap works. In step 4, put about 3" of one end of the hanger wire through one of the trap holes and twist to secure it, and then do the other end of hanger wire through the second hole and twist to secure it. You end up with two wires of the hanger suspending the weight of the trap. The way you did it obviously works but the right way is described in the instructions in step 4. And finally in Step 5, you placed the trap about 30 feet or so away from your garden as described in the instructions. The instructions says to place the trap 30 feet away, as you did, AND down wind from the foliage which you did not mention. Once again your trap obviously works so downwind, upwind or crosswind may make some difference but you have to place it, well, where you have to place it. So these "snafus" or not, I wanted to point that out for those that can't read the instructions or can't figure it out. So bottom line is I am locating my trap under the carport between two gardens and if that doesn't work in a day or so, it will be going in the main garden on a shepherd's hook. So thank you for the work you did on your video and I liked and sub'd. Have a good day!

      Thank you so much for sharing this information in your comment. I'm sure it will be helpful to other viewers. After using these for 3 gardening seasons, I've found they're very forgiving when it comes to setup. They work great even if you don't set them up exactly right by the directions 🤣. I do set them really close to the garden, which is not really recommended, but I've had great results. Do what works best for you. Have a wonderful day. Thanks for watching and subscribing. 😁👍

      Yes, it was not working properly in this location. A couple of days later, I think it was, I moved it and did an update video: czcams.com/video/5DZmJXVH7yY/video.html
      Then it worked just fine. I've already set one out this year, several weeks ago and it's working great. I have the lure facing toward the wind so it carries the scent to draw in the beetles. I have found that the hanging tie they provide is not that good. I get a lot of windy days and it makes the trap go in all different directions and eventually breaking. This year I changed out their hanging tie and am using a zip tie. It works so much better. Thanks for watching and for your comment. 😁

    • @LifesAProject
      @LifesAProject  Před 11 měsíci

      I usually place it into another trash bag and place it immediately in the outside trash can. The dead bugs will start to smell. I guess if you wanted to reuse the bag you could, but you may have to try and rinse it because I read that the smell of the dead bugs can detract the beetles from the trap. I've never reused the bags, because it would probably be a stinky and messy job.🤣

  • @GrowlinWillie
    @GrowlinWillie Před 4 lety +2

    According to the instructions when you attach the lure you should "make sure that the exposed side is facing INWARD...". You have the exposed side facing outward (6:00). You first tried to install it with the tab facing left, you say "it's not going to go that way"(6:19) then you face the tab up, which is correct. BUT, you didn't bend the tab inward as the instructions say. This is to keep rain off the lure which will make it last longer. In your case it may not matter since your trap is protected from the rain.
    The trap is suppose to be placed down wind so the beetles will encounted the trap before they get to your plants. The beetles won't reach your trap before reaching your plants because your house is blocking their path. Your beetles aren't going to fly past your plants to get to the trap. Some may, and you may catch them. But some will stop for a snack first.
    Sometimes it helps to read the instructions!

    • @LifesAProject
      @LifesAProject  Před 2 lety

      I haven't used a bucket the last few seasons, only the trap. I actually heard of someone placing a bucket under the trap filled with water so that the Japanese Beatles that were drawn to the trap and missed falling into the bag, would fall into the bucket and would be caught that way. I saw a video in the past using the bucket and they were able to catch hundreds more Japanese Beatles. So it was something that I wanted to give a try, it does work but using the trap alone was simpler for me and works just fine by itself. So you don't have to use the bucket. I hope that makes sense. Thanks for your question and thanks for watching. 🙂
