Hi. I've been hurled into the deep end. I am a draftsperson and I am using AutoCAD 2022. I have created a master template for a Master house. The BASE is an XREF and the FACADE is an XREF. I have created LAYER STATES for bosth BASE and FACADE. However this is messing me up in the TEMPLATE where I have combined teh XREFS onto on layout. There are various layouts such as Floor Plan, Electrical Plan, Slab, etc but the LAYER STATES are not working well. Is there a better way to set this up? Please I am my wits end. Thanking you, Aran

Control the layers in the paper space views or have a seperate file for each plan, but a common base xref of the plan. Basically look at ways to simplify your setup but still have a central way to edit the base line work.

I have a floor plan and i want to put water and sewer in it. I referenced to them my floor plan, but I want to get all the installation back to my floor plan. But if I reference water on it for example I will get my floor plan as well onto my floor plan. How do I fix this? I want them to have my floor plan if I change something, and I want to have all the installations as well.

Use either multiple xrefs or a good set of layers to turn things off and on.

@@TheArtofTechnicalDrawing what do you mean multiple xrefs? The problem is if I reference water to my floor plan I would also get the floor plan twice, the original floor plan and then as a reference as well? Is there a way to avoid that?

Yes. Make the xrefs “overlay” instead of “attach” and this circular referencing will stop.

did you mean. you just make a new layer in actual plan that name XREF. because it needed in Overall site plan. but why the layer name only XREF and not "XREF - Broodstock bldg" does this apply also in other Building in terms of naming the layer
