    Good point you made at the end there. A lot of restaurants use chuck roast to sell as braised short ribs on their menus.

    100% agree and felt the same thing watching it. The whole thing with the bone to make it a lollipop doesn't change the fact that it's pretty much just a ridiculously expensive pie.

      the sous vide makes everything so soft and tender.. I couldn't tell anything. Plus it gets a bit of char when you put it in the oven if you do a lattice pattern. Thanks man! It'll be out next week!

    Great video. Loved to see your honest opninion. And especially loved that you didn't hide your attempt (hideous for some, but I know I wouldn't have done nearly as good myself).
    Will you attempt again but with a chuck roast, like you mentioned at the end of your review?
    Curious to know if it would still be worth the effort and time needed to prep the lolly.

      Haha thanks I always like to share the good and bad on this channel! I may do it again but most likely not for a video. But I've had chuck roast many times, and I think it would be just as good, but no stick for the lolipop

    That weaving reminded me of Bacon Explosion. Have you ever tried it? I've made it several ways but I highly recommend Jimmy Dean hot breakfast sausage for the interior.

    I test smoked a single beef plate rib. Took off at probe tender everywhere, and was tender, but a bit dry. Any reason why?

      what grade was it? I've done select ribs that turned out that way. The ribs I used for this video were creek stone primes and they were insane

    I'll see you on the Guga Channel soon ant 😂. I like to smoke and sous vide so I don't need to tend to the fire all the time. Also no matter the weight of the roast etc just like in BBQ for a sous vide cook you need time to break it down fyi since you mentioned a chuck roast vs beef rib cook time.

      LOL that would be awesome 😂 this was my second time using the sous vide, and outside of the inconvienence of making my room super hot and humid, I really like it. I will probably try a ribeye in it next time!

    Chuck roast would not have saved you time in sous vide as the purpose of a long cook is to tenderise the meat, but not get the heat distributed in it. But that could work well - especially if you add some fat to the pulled meat.

      thanks for watching! I keep seeing comments similar to this. So if I sous vide a chuck roast at 185F it would still take 24 hours? In BBQ to, breakdown the collagen and fat you need the meat to stay above a temperature of 160F for just few hours. Is it different for sous vide?

      @@AntsBBQCookout Tries to sell his fan base on buying the disposable canister camping stove he started using in his videos as an affiliate. He's got an entire gas stove/oven to use but uses the single burner camp stove for the camera angle on his kitchen island, his use of this stove is entirely for his youtube video aesthetic and has nothing to do with better methods of home cooking. Also camping stoves can be hooked up to refillable propane tanks but he specifically wants you to buy the disposable canister version (more money spent = more affiliate money). I called him out on it in his comments respectfully and in his next video he included a quick rant about people complaining about his stove and then did a quick shill advertisement about how you can buy them with his link in the description and he loves his stove. I unsubbed as his true colors showed.

      Also if anyone wants to be cooking on a camp stove they sell them made out of cast iron with a really cool secondary gas flow regulator before the heat knob for when you wanna crank it up extra or get a really controlled small flame. It hooks up to refillable propane tanks and the cast iron aspect of it loves the grease splatter from cooking and will outlive you. They are cheap and are really useful for a makeshift outdoor kitchen when you wanna do messier cooking, 100x more useful purchase than the one Sonny promotes for profit.
