if you wanted the race engine, the factory just put the cross ram intake manifold in the car trunk when it was delivered new to the Chev dealer for the Z28, with the 302 engine. This was for the 1967 and 68 versions, when i worked at the largest GM dealer in Canada in Toronto. I got to drive every single Z28 and 427 Vette that was delivered to that dealer. Oh, Yes, the 66 Vette was the first year that the 427 was an option. The 1965 big block Vette had a 396, it was the only year that the 396 was put into the Vette. In late 1967, they offered the L88 all aluminum 427 as a factory option in the Vette. The blocks and heads were made at the Tonawanda, NY casting plant.
awesome!
Love it!
What a blast
Workin’ mans race car. 🏁
There's so much 'Murica in this video
You know the Camaro driver is British and all the cars he's competing against were designed and built in the the UK right??
You know that the Camaro is an american car and that Sebring is actually in the USA, right?
Yep!....The ONLY genuinly American car on the grid, driven by an Englishman..."Murica"!!!
Wink!
Nice nice nice!!
Grab it by the horns... Appropriate sticker for this car.
Why do I get the feeling that this Camaro doesn't exactly have a historically accurate engine or tires...
Or suspension.
probably all that passing of prototypes! seems legit....
I think Mark Donahue got a high finish in the Penske Camaro back in the day due to reliability. The Sports cars would still outrun it today if they have the right drivers in them
Yes it is the real deal 302
Small block music
All that din but a Tesla would muller it in silence!
The guys in the multi-million dollar cars let the much less valuable and much more aggressive driven Camaro thru.. Its not faster.. The high dollar guys are protecting their rides from the bull in the china shop.
Jennifer...you took the words right out of my mouth. The high dollar guys are being 'passive' rather than 'aggressive'.
Unfortunately vintage racing in the States is neutered by the organizers who insist the drivers give each other 'racing room' (to avoid any chance of contact) which is fine, but it detracts from the racing. The Camaro driver is English and used to the more aggressive style of vintage racing that you get in Europe and Australia which is a bit more like this (skip the first 6 minutes).....czcams.com/video/t3ppTh3TYtA/video.html
Which is all kinda funny if you think about it. EU vintage racing is more aggressive than in the US, while it’s (usually) quite the opposite with the current series’. I’ve always been more interested in Euro/Asian racing series than US simply because the driving tends to be more technical than US series where it’s mostly ovals with some road courses thrown in to break it up, but the lack of passing and more aggressive driving, especially in F1 most times, can get a bit boring. So I watch NASCAR for the wrecks lol
Lots of passing in MotoGP, Moto2, and Moto3, and WSB...yes, 2 wheels rather than 4, but boring it's not!
I race in historic touring cars in the UK because the small car vs muscle car competition makes for lots of overtaking. Here's some 'no holds barred' racing from Oz to enjoy czcams.com/video/X6aEoRPS4Io/video.html
