If I had a nickel for every time the Mongols tried invading Japan and got destroyed by typhoons, I would have two nickels, which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice.
If you had a Nickel for every mongel LOST in Typhoons while invading Japan you would have around $3750.00.

Fun fact-The flag was known as C-Pennant and had a Nepal, Ohio flag design.
Weirdly, Guinness World Records give the title of the "Country who has changed their flag the most" to the USA and not Afghanistan, although Afghanistan has changed their flag more.

fun fact about subways: ukraine has *no* subway. instead, we have our own counterpart - "freshline", which has been making sandwiches for a while (probably, a decade for sure). i heard that there was a subway or 2 in kyiv (opened in 2018), but it didn't last long since people were used to freshline (that, and the fact that ukraine, russia & other countries in the area have a huge variety of street food [though, most of it are buns from georgian and uzbek cuisine])
Fun fact: the Denmark flag was the same as the Tuscany in the 1200's
Denmarkâs flag is from 1219

Always loved PWA's videos. The country balls are never hating each others, never goes into stereotypes and it's all in good fun, also they learn from each others too. It's by far my favorite geography channel just because of that. I even have a makeship plushie of PWA.
Agreed
yeah
its fun to watch countryballs videos without that unnecessary drama
Are you sure
but they go into sterio types all the time dont they
@@soldierofwessex7616 PWA does references to a country either by mentioning the food, the language or even the animals it has and stays neutral most of the time except towards USA, still in good fun. I feel like the poking fun are never free unless itâs the subject of the video. Itâs not like some channels out there wishing a country wouldnât exist or some other things that does more harm than good. To me at least PWA stays very neutral in its country depictions.
13:59 in the UK we are making a high speed train⊠yet there is a lack of funding and several controversies with how to build it in an area of high population density.
HS2?
@@MyIdeasHaveRunDry._. HS1, HS2, Northern Powerhouse Rail (effectively HS3)
South Africa's wine industry was started by the french huguenots they where mostly Protestant and the Catholic French didn't like it and they where forced to flee about 3 million who went to various colony's but South Africa got something like 1.2 million of them (USA got around 800k) most had wine farms in France and upon immigrated to the cape colony started farming the grapes again, a lot of the farms they started are still going at it today and are still family owned. South Africa also has the longest wine tasting tour (go from farm to farm taste testing the wine) it's about 25 km or for the yanks it's 15.534 miles.
1:11 Italy's two flags where the Kingdom of Italy(the same as the modern one but with a cool little simbol) amd the modern Italian Republic

1:46 LOL I love how Ethiopia is the one to say peace is important when they are in one of the four conflicts going on rn (Tigray conflict((also others are the internal conflicts in Mynnamr/Burma, Ukraine, and Yemen))) thatâs had both sides committing war crimes such as using children as meat shields/soldiers and killing innocent ppl. Itâs had thousands of deaths so far but I think thereâs a pretty unstable armistice rn
In India also we have to play the national anthem before every movie and everyday

Fun fact: France invented the TGV (train grande vitesse) (high speed train) who had the world record of speed (I think somewhere about 570km/h) for a very long time.
It still has the record
It's debated as either yes or no the Japanese Shinkansen is considered a train or not, because it is faster but also hovers on a single rail

Speaking of fastest wind speed recorded from a storm, a tornado in the USA reached wind speeds of around 300mph or 482kmh
In terms of hurricanes the record for a landfalling hurricane is the unamed labor day hurricane in in 1935 at 185mph(300kph)

Am from the UK we have exactly one high speed rail at the moment, called HS1 that links London to the Channel Tunnel. They are currently building the HS2 (that was proposed by Labour back in 2009 lol) the first part of which will link London to Birmingham, was meant to be done by 2026 but is now looking like somewhere between 2029 and 2033. Then there will be a second part which will link Birmingham to Manchester and again was meant to be done by 2032/33 but has been pushed back now to between 2035 and 2040.
...I was 16 when the HS1 was built (2003), 22 when HS2 was proposed, turning 35 in 2022. If it takes as long as 2040 to finish I will be 52 going 53...
Got to say it was probably good that the flag thing was "official national flags" and not just "official flags" in general cause there are the 27 iterations of the star spangled banner, plus all state flags, military branch flags, some special units have their own flags, and then things like the rebel flag and the "don't tread on me" and "join or die" flags (join or die was from the revolution to get the first 13 to actually join together)
Greece, in my opinion, has the second worst railway after Albania. Nobody uses it, a lot of it closed, and people just are used to roads. The weird part is that Greece doesn't even have a bus producing company. I think Albania railway is worse because its not electified
Drew your amazing lol
Only OGs know that PWA stands for 'Pixel Wolf Animations'.
The flag from 1946 germany was allied occupied germany
Yesss, I really love these ones.
I want you to make a video about how massive Norway is and what Norway is
3:04 after loosing the war we had this while the allies occupation (ships need to have something like that so you know where they are from)
sorry for my bad english btw
I can't understand why US doesn't have that many train tracks. I just last Monday went almost 300 km north (Finland) and came back same day and it cost only 75âŹ. It is way cheaper and needed less effort than driving there would've.
We use our train tracks for freight not really for commuting.
The 1946 german flag was the allied occupied Germany flag. It was when Germany was split into four before the allied parts united into west Germany
I love your videos
Historical misnomer Spain's Anthem does have lyrics but no one sings them due to ties to the Francoist regime also Spain's Anthem is the 3rd oldest anthem
Japan has lower smartphone usage cause it took a while to adopt it since the old keypads were best for them to cycle through the hiragana/katakana characters for texting
Ecuador once again in one of your videos this is awesome

as a mexican myself, i can confirms there's very little subways here, most i've seen are either in airports or in/near supermarker, rarely do i see one out there by it's own, dominos are more common, imo.
5:50 funny how Mount Washington has had faster wind speeds than any of the others on that list (372 km/h)
i watched the typhoon/storm part and i just realized in my country (philippines) there was a alert on my laptop and it said heave storm in your area

DREW you should review the national anthem of every Asian Countries
UK definitely needs to make "Don't Look Back in Anger" by Oasis their official national anthem
Interestingly they had Guam for the storms was that storm pre-1898 or did they do Guam as a way to indicate the location? will have to take a look into that one.

This is a really late comment but I went to Ireland recently and no matter where you went there was a subway, one on the corner, one inside of another store, sometimes you'd see like 3 in one street (I'm mainly talking about my Dublin experience here)

Ya know, speaking of countryballs, when are the next plushies coming out
3:03 that is the flag that was used to represent the divided Germany
in the Netherlands we have a lot of rail but that is mostly limited to 160kmh(95mph) or 140kmh(80mph) we do have hispeed rail but that is the bare minimum(200kmh) between Amsterdam and Belgium for the Thalys(to Paris) and Eurostar(to London). we do have the german ICE operating here but that goes on track that doesnt allow 200kmh+
3:04 Ally occupied Germany

Drew : Doesnât the UK have HSR

Australia has had a few flags if you count the rebel flag.
We will never forget what happened in 1854.
3:03 That is the flag of Allied-Occupied Germany... It's the signal fllag "Charlie" (or C) with a triangle cut out of the fly.
I believe in drew wearing a floral shirt supermacyđ§ââïž
3:02 the German flag of 1946 was a temporary measure. Following the defeat of Nazi Germany, the flying of the swastika flag became unacceptable, but German vessels still needed some way to identify themselves at sea. The solution was to use the letter C from the international flag alphabet (carried aboard all ships at the time and usually square) but cut into a swallowtail shape. Japan did a similar thing with the E from the international flag alphabet.
When u ask Bulgaria how many years theyâve kept red
No one gonna talk about how mexico has a heavenly amount of subways

when it comes to Denmark it makes me proud of being a dane, that we have the oldest flag. I know it prolly sounds weird to say- but I just like to think that its so old
Yes Im a dame too
when they said "wine production" i was dissapointed to see portugal wasnt on there-
Italy has something like 20 or more flags (1 for each region like Sicily, Sardinia, Tuscany...)

it's important to note that the smartphone one would be very diffrient if it was total smart phones in the country
