    I'm an old man now but I regret not having my head right about wrestling when I was in school. I *really* hated losing, but I didn't really give a shit about winning and didn't really understand what the sport could teach me beyond what sweaty balls smell like. I quit after a couple of years and never looked back until I was in my 40's. Good on these dudes.

      I regret not taking wrestling at all. I moved on to a few martial arts and since the development of MMA would have been a major asset. I'm now a couch practitioner of the arts! LOL

    I played football and was a sprinter on our track team in '82 when I was a freshman. I ran the 440 & 880 sprint relay. We never lost a race. I ran the 100 once and won with a 10.1. That year Chris Collinsworth won the state championship with a 10.0. He was 6'5". I was 5'6". If freshmen competed with the rest of the HS kids, I think I could have beaten him. "They're going to have a conference here, real quick." Ummmm. I started and finished James Michener's _Hawaii_ and learned the bass part in Beethoven's _Missa Solemnis_ during the instant replay break. I support the idea of replays. Getting the calls right is very important, especially in a match that was close from beginning to end. Most of the time in team sports, the couple of minute break doesn't make a difference. However, here the men could have been sent off to take showers and warm up again and still had time to sign autographs. Rewatching 42 seconds of wrestling took about 300 seconds while the wrestlers paced. Unfair to both.

    • @tharinhessenauer6169
      @tharinhessenauer6169 Před 2 lety +6

      Completely agree. That is WAY too long. The times when I've had long breaks while wrestling a match can really take a toll on you. Your muscles cool down, your adrenaline stops pumping, your mental state changes, any momentum is gone. Not fair to the wrestlers, there should be a time limit on reviews or something.

      The rules are set up to promote action. Prevent stalling/clinch and such. Scoring with back exposure; putting your opponent in a vulnerable position. Throws/manhandling a mutha f'er. Push out/controlling the center of the mat. And with no striking or submissions, it adds to the difficulty of the contest. Things to keep in mind.

      Most competitors wear a singlet much tighter than they would ever wear any article of clothing because in freestyle if any part of the shoulder to include the uniform touches the mat, it's a fall

    i don't know anything about this sport... but how does someone force someone out of the ring and not get points for getting out of the hold by forcing someone out? that should seem like a significant thing to me.. maybe I'm wrong. I really don't know.

    This is why I don’t watch much wrestling. Edit out the 6 minutes of them arguing over a call. Wrestling shouldn’t be just standing around while officials keep “fixing” the score. It definitely shouldn’t be that way on CZcams.
