- A decat is not louder than a 200 cell sports cat and I prove it in this video with controlled testing.

I know this might seem shocking but the sound difference in terms of loudness isn't really a thing, but you can definitely hear the turbo better with a decat.
There are pros and cons to a sports cat downpipe and pros and cons to a decat downpipe.
Pros of a high-flow sport cat downpipe are:
1. Increase in performance
2. Cooler temps over the factory downpipe
3. 35% lighter than a factory downpipe
4. More turbo sounds and noises
Cons of a high-flow sport cat downpipe are:
1. Costs of a high-flow sports cat downpipe are kind of pricey
2. Not as lightweight as a decat downpipe
3. Not as much horsepower and torque gain as a decat downpipe
Pros of a de-cat downpipe are:
1. 60% lighter weight than a factory downpipe and 25% lighter weight than a sports cat downpipe
2. Significantly cheaper than a catted downpipe
3. Significantly cooler temps over the factory downpipe
4. Turbo sounds amazing! Did I mention lots of turbo sounds? Tons!
5. Highest amount of horsepower and torque gains over the factory downpipe and even the sport cat high-flow downpipe
6. Easy to install due to it's size
7. You can heat wrap it or ceramic coat it for additional performance gains
Cons of a de-cat downpipe are:
1. Illegal in some states and countries outside of track use
2. Decat downpipes have a distinct smell they put off and some people don't like the smell, but some people love the smell
3. Will not pass emissions if your state has a check for that on vehicles
4. Need to tune your vehicle
My personal opinion would be to go with a decat downpipe if you're looking for maximum turbo sounds and maximum performance. But I will say that a high-flow sports cat is just as nice if you can get a good deal on one and you want to pass emissions. Either way I think you can't go wrong with a high-flow sport cat downpipe or a decat downpeipe.

You have basically done everything I want to do to my mini. What would you recommend to do first? Bracing? Lowering? Intake? Or exhaust? Just going for fun street car. Love the videos and keep it up.
Have noticed any power gain on catted downpipe
is your mini Pre LCI or LCI with GPF? would like to know if you got any Engine Check Light after installing the sports cat downpipe
His mini is LCI1, but it's an American model so therefore does not have a GPF which is only fitted to LCI UK and EU models.
Intake hard pipe where can i get that?
Does the decat drone inside the car?
No, not for me it didn't. Same goes with my oldest son. He says he didn't feel it added droning to the inside of the cabin.
Nice. I was planning on installing mine this weekend.
YES!!! Don't forget if you get BootMod3 use code BERTINI to save a little money. 😅
I know you're going to love the new downpipe, it makes a huge difference. 😬🤘🏼
Ayo Migs question; when u do your driver's, do you take OFF traction control?
I do not. Should I? 🙂
@@MichaelBertini when you do, you will notice a diff not only in clutch, but exhaust sound too. I'm interested in seeing if & or decibels changes?!
@@ap3stax I'll do a video on this to see. Now I'm interested in knowing this as well. Thanks for the suggestion!
@@MichaelBertini it's faint, but you as a wrencher will notice a difference.
@@ap3stax my Mini should be back in my hands this week and I'll work on that video. It's a great idea and I had no clue that out makes a difference.
Maybe sportmode is not lowder cause it has better combustion, less misfires. Misfires make the engine louder. Try with lower octane gasoline. I bet it ll be louder in every mode than with higer octane gasoline
Oh very good point. I didn’t even think about that. 👊🏼
Hows the smell of cattless Downpipes?
They smell like gas and you + the car will smell like gas after a while lol, I would get sport cat for sure .. even 100 cell with a mini-cat would do the trick
@@jaynikk758 i did maincat emty and second cat 200 celler! Perfect
@@oK4rma So kept the cat just hollowed it out? Or deleted it altogether then added the 200 cell? My cat is going out as I type this 😂 but at 200k miles it is expected.
@@jaynikk758 deleted all together and then added the 200 cell. I know have 13K Miles 😄
@@oK4rma could I get away with passing emission with just a 200 cell? Very good to know it's been solid for you, I am looking at HJS brand sport cat 🐈 💨
Hey man! Love the videos. Are you interested in selling the sports cat DP by chance?
Hey bud! Thanks for the love and support! Yes, the sports cat downpipe is for sale on Facebook market place. 😬
