The bottom line is how many $$$ the league brings in. This class is probably the most hyped in the history of the WNBA. They can change the landscape, but I would argue it shouldn't happen before they start bringing in the revenue to the league.

@@runrafarunthebestintheworld It definitely does matter. The WNBA loses $10 million a year and needs to be subsidized by the NBA just to keep it running. The average WNBA team is worth about $26 million, while the average NBA team is worth $3.8 billion. Luckily for the WNBA, they have stars coming this years draft class that will most likely boost viewership and revenue but unfortunately, the pay will only increase after the league starts to generate the money. That's literally how businesses and corporations work.

Just to be clear.....The NBA fans (for the most part) fill almost each and every 25,000 seat arena for each game. The WBNA (until now so we shall see) do not have even a 1/3 of the seats filled hence there is much less revenue, hence much less money available for pay.
I'm a WNBA fan however I also understand Capitalism, supply and demand, etc. Folks can complain all they want but to pay the women as much as the men means the entire league would be bankrupt in 36 months (or less) and then it would be gone completely.
Just saying, but I wish them continued success.

"The reaction when some fans learned how much professional women basketball players earn." The "fans" who just learned this are telling on themselves. They're just learning about WNBA salaries now, because:
    1. They haven't actually paid attention to the WNBA; and
    2. Because they haven't paid attention, the WNBA generates less revenue; and
    3. Because the WNBA generates less revenue, they pay their players less.

Are they going to talk about that same pay disparity with male models vs female models? Because the pay disparity is the same. The only difference is the female modeling agencies aren't subsidize male models agencies. Most of these people don't even watch the NBA let alone the WNBA. They are just trying to attach onto controversial issues they know nothing about. The WNBA players are actually overpaid. Name another business that doesn't generate a revenue getting those paydays. The NBA has been keeping the WNBA afloat by subsidize them by the millions since they've been around. There cost to operate their business exceeds the money they generate.
