Ratt was a sensation for casual listeners both mainstream and otherwise but to the aspiring/budding musicians and the professional guitarists,...Warren DeMartini was always held in a higher regard like George Lynch, Jake E Lee as sort of the best of the best....Still to this day.
I've been playing for 36 years...I tossed the idea around for a couple of years in my very early teens but it was Warren that brought about that moment that sent me to a dead serious and dedicated 3 hours a day practice routine that would see me to a long road to being a lifelong guitarist.
I was soo inspired by Warren.

Absolutely. Extremely underrated. To this day I still have difficultly playing some passages in-time and note for note complete when playing as the only guitar in a band... it's extremely difficult at the end of the solo to hit that chorus rhythm in time and on the beat. Yea yea I know that's not how it's done on the album and they had two guitar players but... still.

      You misspelled the 70's
      ;-)
Synths came in in force in the 80s, and music suffered. There were still, though, a ton of bands playing real instruments (including synth, just to be fair; it's a keyboard, which is an instrument), so your point has merit.

    • @Xeroforte
      @Xeroforte Před 4 lety +4

You have a point but the same can be said for any decade. Plenty of good bands that still play their instruments and play whatever they want to this day. But contrary to the advantages that the internet has, it isn't all handed to you. You have to look for it. Whether you like it or not is all personal preference, but it's still from the heart of another human being.

Went to college in the Catskills. Saw Ratt in a bar called the Attic, which actually was an attic above another bar. It was rated for 30 people. There were 300 in the place when the fire company came in, turned on the light and shut it down mid set!

He rung up his uncle and had him appear in video.
Totally helped RATT make it, as this video was often requested for on MTV.

Warren DiMartini, the guitarist that fell through the ceiling, was one of the most underrated guitarists on the planet. In an interview he said he never wanted to be famous, he had a touch of the stage freight and wished he could be back in the shadows behind the drummer at concerts. Nowadays he is married with children and living the good life. Im glad at least one metal player from back then actually survived it and is a normal person today. Thats easier said than done!

Love the song, and your reaction. "Round And Round" was one of my favorite songs by Ratt. I especially like the chorus:
    "Round and round
With love we'll find a way just give it time
    Round and round
    What comes around goes around
    I'll tell you why."
Damn those were some cool days! Thanks you two! BTW Kel, I love your MTV shirt! \m/

Rich, you have a good voice for radio, seriously. I thought it was funny seeing Kel getting into the visual story line of the video while we guys are all out here getting into the riffs and the vocals. Men’s brain vs. woman’s brain. Good stuff. My condolences about your son. As a parent my heart goes out to you both. Rock on you two!
