    Great video as always. I think arch millitant pyromancer is the best DPS build in the game, just beat the game on unfair with such build. It has so much potential if you are dogmatic, because with the Eyes of Joyeuse you can get to 10 psy rating late game, that with Warp Surge Brooch gives you the same amount of attacks the first turn + more attacks from wild fire and run and gun, it can get you to 12-13 attacks, prebuffed you can have the AP to use those 12 attacks. I carried a flamethrower for the trash mobs with flame weapon expert its heavy attack costs 1AP, for the the bosses molten beam and basic flamethrower attacks. The soldier and arch millitant have so many strong feats and you will not be useless early game. The build is so strong that I killed in one turn the final boss . And now after this update It is even more powerful...

    Isn't the Killind Edge channge a buff, rather than a nerf? I'm slightly confused.

    • @Quandry1
      @Quandry1 Před 28 dny

      We would have to look about how much things get changed based upon wounds. At high levels it could be a bit of a buff overall. But it looks like it is likely a buff at lower levels, but a overall lower endcap. Though the way it reads it may actually sneak by this affect.
      And that's kind of a thing. He calls things a nerf when he lists out the changes but doesn't mention that the minimum math on several of them is actually higher and it's just the high end math that is lowered. So they will be stronger initially but won't scale as highly for many of them.

    • @adammusia9527
      @adammusia9527 Před 26 dny

      Well, Killing Edge is now much harder to make a one-hit kill with, even with ultra high lethality and other bonuses, mainly because that flat Killing Edge bonus is now unaffected by bonus dmg percentage (which usually gave the most extra dmg when combined). It does deal a bit higher flat damage, so it's "a buff", but it doesn't move any higher, doesn't change, and isn't that great

    • @Quandry1

      @@Quandry1 oh, it does change on lethality, but it's a special type of flat dmg that isn't affected by percentage dmg modifier, and that was the main thing that gave Killing Edge its high dmg -> normally you had, for example, +50 flat from Killing Edge, and that was multiplied by all the other things. Now it doesn't get multiplied by extra things at all, and your Assassin doesn't hit high at all. They could've capped it, instead they handicapped it completely. Killing Edge on the Opening now hits for 80-100, and that's high-ish

    The nerfs to officers/arch-militants make me very happy with the direction of the game. I truly don't understand the people who want their turn-based strategy game to end on round one, turn one with the same exact recipe every single time. The fact that Cassia Grand Strategist was so popular just because of going first and taking no talents for it just underscores how broken the balance of the action economy was. Cassia is still OP but this reigns it in a little bit. I hope they make some of the underperforming origins as good as psykers now though, like Commissars just seems very underwhelming and clumsy.

    • @Swrdfshtrmbns
      @Swrdfshtrmbns Před 28 dny +5

      @@Axetwin I understand why people like very powerful builds. For some people, it's the satisfaction of playing with the stats to break the game and have a sense of mastery over the mechanics. For most people, it's just about wanting to play on easy mode and not actually engage with the mechanics of the game as intended. If you are playing in a way that invalidates the participation of the entire opposing force in all combat in all the game, I don't really value your opinion about the mechanics of the game at all. The rest of us want a more balanced game where multiple builds are viable for replayability and core mechanics of entire classes don't trivialize the whole experience. There will always be cheats for you.

      The majority of "strategy" is what you do outside of combat to prepare for it. Finding out how to best set up your team to perform the way you wanted to to decimate you enemies IS what makes the strategy fun for many people. The fact that they are removing that option and invalidating the effort many people have found enjoyment in to come up with these builds is rather disappointing the me. The actual combat portion itself is the Tactics btw :). Also breaking game mechanics and becoming a god is fun in and of itself. It's just like how many games include cheat codes (or used to at least). Challenge can be fun, but so can other things.

    I just don't get how you are supposed to build a character in Rogue Trader, there are so many feat choices and classes and the vast vast majority of them seem useless. I admit that learning about extra turns and chaining them together seemed to trivialize the game, but how is it supposed to be played? • @DSzaks
      @DSzaks Před 28 dny +1

      A lot of it comes down to picking a very specific playstyle and stacking everything onto that one aspect. And then looking for ways to make other skills and abilities synergize with each other to boost them up further than they would be alone. For example if you want to use slash as a warrior, you should try and spend as much points as you can making that single ability as powerful as possible and not so much on building up other skills at the same time, unless building up another skill will directly lead into making slash more powerful as well. That isn't to say you cant make jack of all trade characters, but they are much harder to pull off and aren't ever going to be nearly as good at each thing as a build dedicated to singular aspect. Wish is a lot different from a lot of games where you can sort of max out everything.
      Owlcat games are very heavily associated w/ the Pathfinder TTRPG franchise, which are like very complex versions of D&D. They kind of expect you to spend hours looking over every ability and planning out how you are going to progress your character before you even start the game, and there are definitely ways to do it wrong and screw yourself over. Which I very much enjoy, but I know that not everyone does. And as much as I love their games and want people to play them; and would hate to turn someone off to them, if that doesn't sound like fun to you it might mean they aren't games for you.
      Or, you could just watch a vid of someone else's build online and use that :)

    To be fair, these nerfs are really only targeting the one-turn-win strategies, which RT badly needed.
    It was way too easy to break the old system, even at early levels. And let's face it, no turn-based game is going to be fun if every combat (including boss battles) ends up being a one-turn face-roll. Sure, you may get a power fantasy out of it, but that gets old really fast... at least, it does for me.
    There has to be some risk of failure, and the whole "free-turns-for-everyone!" characters made it practically impossible to fail... even at Unfair difficulty. It doesn't have to be Dark Souls difficult, but it DOES need to present a challenge, and the old system just... didn't.
    I think the nerfs were a good thing, which is something I rarely say with any game. Just my two cents.

      How dare they balance the game after you played it. Don't they know who you are!

    I hate to see Games I like make this mistake.
    If it's a single player game and devs nerf game mechanics I like, then I have no reason to download and install the patch.
    And you could argue it's not a nerf and it's just balance to the gameplay.

    Haf way through my Unfair playthrough the game went from, barrely manageable at times to Hardcore crazy. Thanks Devs, Instead of spending 20 minutes on a fight it is now an hour, so much more engaging -_-
    the biggest nerf I have noticed personally are two things, extra turns, yes that is one, BUT ALSO stacking buffs to Character abilities (vie focus and similar Talents.... Some are now capped to 25)
    The buff at the start to abilities CAN NOT offset the nerfs received and makes the game about 2x or more harder as an estimation. (Poor new players can now dream of Core and anything higher :D)
    EDIT:
    So I played through the game on unfair and I change my statement. The beginning of the game is much more difficult, although for some reason the bosses are not. Also only fights where enemies get extra turns that overrule your turns, such as Dark Elfie Girl, when she starts monuologing, or Uralon fight are a bight harsher now. But since they added more Damage modifiers than you previously had such as the SIeze Initiative bonus to damage and Dual wield damage buff it is still manageable. On one hand it feels more challenging on the other it also feels more RNG now, since Idira is now the highest DPS (even though she can no longer cast magic when in extra turns provided by bounty hunter, other than debuffs and buffs) and she likes to blow herself up... I would also recommend taking Pyromancy as Idira, not for the spells much, but for the passive bonuses that also apply to your Psychic scream effects.

      If you can't have fun with all the crazy abilities fixed may I suggest playing on a lower difficulty?

      @@20storiesunder Cute, really, made me teary eyed... The point was not me not having fun, but developer offsetting the extra turn cheese by addressing enemy extra turns.
