The Grand Canyon is something everyone needs to see in person.

Thoroughly enjoyable video from start to peak. So much wonderful information about the geologic and cultural history of the Flagstaff area. I was particularly fascinated to find out about that ball court, which I usually associate with Mayans.

The view from the saddle of Humphrey's is one of my favorite's. That area is so cool. I really want to get back to Flagstaff as when I did Humphrey's a couple years ago I only had a few days there. I flew out to Arizona specifically for that I think on a long weekend. Its definitely an area I want to return too. Really great storytelling in this episode.

Did Hawkeye Point today. Definitely needed that 3 L Camelbak.
Great video! I have seen Humphreys but have not attempted a climb.

That was a very good video. I really enjoyed that. Lot of interesting history and I learned a lot of new things about the past. That explosion of that old mountain would have been unbelievable. The old volcano would have been around 16000 to 17000 feet tall before that incredible eruption. I remember when Mount St Helens erupted when I was 5 years old and we had volcanic ash in Oklahoma City and its around 1500 miles away.
Im going to have to go to Humphreys Peak sometime. That would be so much fun to climb. I really enjoyed watching this video.
It was very interesting . Nicely done 🙂

Another top-notch video. I always learn from your videos. I honestly could see these being played in school. A little mini-series of facts for each state. Well done!

In the early 2000s I was working at the N. Rim of the Grand Canyon. To celebrate a friends b-day we drove to Flagstaff walked to the top of Humphreys had a beer then drove back into town and got Thai food for dinner. A great day!

I keep finding my way back to Flagstaff in my travels. I think I've been there four times now. Such a great area. My most recent visit back in May '21 I did the Humphrey's Peak summit. It's the toughest highpoint I've done so far. I nearly gave up. I may have had a little altitude sickness, though I'm not sure. I was certainly tired and the thin air didn't help. I had stayed in Flagstaff the two nights before, but it's quite a bit lower so not a lot of acclimation. The hardest part was from the saddle to the summit. A lady had passed me toward the beginning of the hike and I saw her again coming back down when I was just past the saddle (she moved quick), and it's still quite a hike past the saddle. She encouraged me to keep going. Lots of false summits made me feel like I was almost there. I believe it took me 9 hours to do, but it was worth it. I need to get into better shape for the other western highpoints, but I think there likely will be some I just can't do.
