The Brothers Karamazov, Book 1 summary and analysis

We go through Book 1 (out of 12) of the Brothers Karamazov, called "The history of a certain family". The wretched father with his two wives and three sons takes the stage.

Thanks. I’m re-reading the book for the 5th time. The background of each character is important to remember while reading the novel. FD is very good about being true to each character’s roots and connectedness to their worlds.

Hi from Canada…I’m looking for literature that holds my interest. Men authors dominate the classics…the same theme…women, debauchery, gambling etc . are the threads that run throughout 🤷‍♀️. This DOES NOT SPEAK TO ME!!!!!…I will however listen to your summary and reserve judgement.👋🇨🇦

Read the book. Dostoevsky is a Christian author who certainly doesn't endorse debauchery and gambling.
