We shoot out two of the industry’s 6-passenger side-x-side vehicles - the Polaris Ranger XP 900 Crew and the Can-Am Defender HD10 Max. - Auta a dopravní prostředky
I would love to see this with 2020 or 2021 models, Polaris seems to have addressed the items you did not like with the latest revision.
You're absolutely right
Thanks Guys excellent shotout, was waiting for this comparation for too long, keep the good work :)
Great review vid. You are also better than most in front of the camera. Ty! Gonna take a look at the defender for sure.
I’m gonna go with the harbor freight version
I'd love to see a six seater shoot out with all brands.
with six adult riders the whole time.
tmx412 why ? Polaris & can am would be at the top of the heap as always. Asian sxs (honda, kawi & yamaha) only sell because they're cheap & allegedly dependable. Their faux dependability comes from the same thing that keeps civics & toyotas on the road for so long...an absolute lack of power.
Awesome review guys, can you please do one for the latest 2018 models asap? It would be great to have an update after 2 years. Cheers
Great review thank you. The only thing missing was quality of components and fit and finish.
They only add that category to give Polaris an extra point. Super biased
thanks for the video. I'm just getting started at shopping for a 6 seater. Great information.
What did you buy and why?
Excellent narrative and fantastic commentary. Simply the best.😃
Nice review. Glad I bought the Can-Am today.
Excellent narration and a fantastic commentary. Luke Lester is simply the
best.
Love your vids dirt trax
Showing the 4 wheel drive capabilites would be nice?
I agree with you thank you for the vid
I would like to see them loaded and empty climbing. Mud and sand hills. When carrying wood out of the Forrest the one that grabs the best and don’t get stuck is important
Thenks Luke very INFORMATIVE
Great video
The concept of such big vehicles for weekend fun I have no idea what you are suppose to do with them other than farming.
We get some variety with this channel, the Polaris brand shootout always has the same winner! The Ranger fits my needs more than the Defender, but these are both solid vehicles.
I have one main requirement 48 inches wide or less because of trail restrictions. This leaves out most all UTV.
The price value comparison should have included the cost of all the replacement parts that you will likely have to purchase on the Ranger right after the 6 month warranty runs out versus the higher quality parts and the 3 year warranty on the 2016 Defender.
Too bad you guys didn't do any trail riding that is where the Ranger would have an advantage with their Hilliard AWD differential versus the Defender Viscolock differential. That is, of course, assuming the drive shaft was in phase from the factory and hadn't shaken it apart...
Please compare the winner to the 800 cre tracker.
want more videos like this
Need the mule pro fxt out there too
What about the "Intimidator" Crew Series ?
Tisho213 I would like to see more reviews on the intimidator. It has a great price but no reviews.
Why is there not one over Polaris and can am mud bikes
What other 6 seaters r there?
Does Kawasaki still make a six Setter mule
The new defender comes with a locker. I don't know who's going to win since I just now started the video but I assume it's polaris because dirt Trax gets paid for them obviously
They get paid from both brands...
Love your show,But most of the time it Polaris or can am
Would like to see more brand's
Can you un govern the ranger?
Id like the Polaris more if the top out was higher.
you guys didn't include the arctic cat hdx 6 seater
If you compare to tracker also compare price.
Wheres the Yamaha Viking VI?
I don't think the Viking VI can compete with that single bore. But what I like about Yamaha is the dependability you get for the price. I don't need my side by side to be decked out like an escalade.
true
id like to know how that little single bore 700 would carry 6 people. especially if they are big people
cjk247 They have the new 850 twin now.
Thats what I am wondering. The price alone should put it at the top. My 2015 was 10500 in early 2016 as last years model. Still working hard. Just change oil and drive. Top speed 64 with 27" all terrains. Atv tires dont last with that much weight on hard ground.
I was just at a video that compared Xbox to PlayStation
Console to PC
Now Can Am to Polaris
But why
Both are good machines that is why they are on top of the mountain
So get a can am unless you get Polaris and pull out the restrictor
Is the roof worth 3000
Why didnt you do the new Polaris 1000 6 seat
I agree
Yea that's a full 100cc that is just left behind I'm sorry Polaris 1000 is better so they had to use the lower choice
Because they were trying to match the horsepower. Both were 71 horsepower
They put the side by sides side by side
Throw in the CFMOTO UFORCE 1000XL I’d like to see a “side by side” comparison
Beds to small & the roof on the crew cab leaks on the ranger
Do along term shootout for durability my buddy has 16000 miles on his defender with only maintenance that would be a lot of parts on my ranger
Agreed. This is what I want to hear. I think most people keep these machines for a long time because they are so expensive so that's very important. What defender model does your friend have?
Please do a 2016 or 2017 rzr 900 s
Jared Miller they did one on a 15
Guys I love the channel. But I was seriously disappointed you didn't show a side by side acceleration test. That's what everyone is wanting to see. I felt teased.
How does it have six seats
Diane Holik in the middle of the passenger and driver seat
The Polaris also gets another point in the “More visits to the shop on a regular basis” category. Can Am is a better option people.
Krieg4020 watever you say bitch
My 900 crew was an utter disappointment
The Kawasaki Mule Pro FXT EPS LE is missing from your test
Nobody buys Kaw anymore.
@@macclark4112 don't know what rock you live under but the Mule Pros have become MUCH MORE RELIABLE than any Polaris... its only competition is really only the Canam
I never heard Mitch of reliability and or cost of maintenance after say 2 to 3 years and a lot of miles based on my own observations the Polaris definitely uses more parts and definitely has many problems as it reaches 15 to 20,000 miles
Very good morning Look, I live in Peru South America and I would like one that is very interesting How do I get them and how much they cost since here in Peru I have a company RUHA SELVA CENTRAL EIRL, he is also a distributor of this product here in the Peru I see that it is very important for rough work in the mountains and jungles of Peru
They took the look from the old ranger
Why not include the Viking VI?
Ya just prefer can am defenders don’t ya
One review I never see is that the Can-Am is the only side by side that is good for people over 6'3" to drive. I'm 6'6" and the Defender is the only one I fit in. LOL
It would be nice to see you guys review Kawasaki products.
How much is it
That’s what the internet is for
i really like the can am
Let’s see the 2020s
Altho they have simmilar storage the bins in the polaris just seemed bigger to me so why did can am get that point eather way i like any off road brand as long as its not honda
I have friends with the polaris lock and ride things is bs, does not work at all he has to use a ratchet strap to hold the box on
Great non bias review, forgot 1 important topic. Reliability.. i hear Polaris brand always breaks. But I'm new to these vechiles so maybe its just haters. Any input?
Also, any other challengers? Does Honda or kawasaki etc, make 6 seaters?
Polaris and Can-Am both have 6-seaters. You're always going to hear hate if you go looking for it.
2018 kawasaki mule pro fxt hands down.
Yeah been looking at these 6 seaters(realistically 4 adults), just now started to search videos on other brands than kawasaki to compare to kawasaki mule. For me reliability, comfort, utility for the price is most important. Top speed is not a priority, I will not need to go 60 mph plus in a utv, I will just get in my truck. So the ability to get to the site in the woods or on the farm to carry potentially 4 adults or convert the back seat to larger bed if need to carry more tools or payload while still carrying 2 adults in the front is attractive to me. Also with high reliability, meaning not having it in the shop at all or only for scheduled maintenance. I don't plan to abuse or attempt any extreme offroading jumping or any crazy stuff. So the kawasaki mule looked the most to meet those needs, now I will check out these brands to compare.
the most important feature to me is noise and the can am is loud
OK there is a Viking and Kawasaki that needs to be in this
Kyle Brannin i was definetly thinking that the kw might compete
No they won't they will break down
Buy a 3 seater and put 3 people in the back
Can they be street legal. Sorry new to the game..
People are morons. Great video. I just took delivery of a 2017 Can Am Defender with a ton of extra goodies. I love this thing!
Yamaha?
Will smith not even in the same category. Their 700 single does not have the grunt to hang with the big bore twins.
ROTAXD They have the 850 twin now.
William Stewart sticking the wolverines 850 into a griz does not automatically make a monster. Kymco-cat already tried that same manuver and it didn't do anything.
Thanks but I'll keep my Viking VI (and I'm even a Polaris guy).. well, was..
might be the case and i do like the viking VI but the viking only has a 700 but how would the the viking VI do in plowing snow and taking 6 people on a trail ride. that 700cc is gonna have to work its ass off. i might have to settle on regular viking
@@cjk247 agree. Clinton, i was looking at the Viking however it doesnt have as much power of Dynamic power steering, electronic hill control and its clearance isnt as good..
just wondering how you cam to decision? Did you test drive both as will have to travel awhile to test the viking v1
@@user-yh8hj9cg4z it was overall the best value (to me) was the only to hold 6 at the time 2015 with bucket seats and Yamaha's 700 will outrun and outperform the 800 polaris.
@@user-yh8hj9cg4z that's absolutley right, the clearance isn't good (cheap factory tires) I am putting 28" on it and it will not require a lift. It should then do 60mph+ B4 governer kicks in. Oh, the power steering is very good, zero complaints.
COME DOWN TO MONTANA GUYS AND I'LL TAKE YOU GUYS ON A REAL ADVENTURE ON THE BENBOW TRAIL IN NYE MONTANA!
I believe that you are a Can Am guy!!
Actually we get accused of favouring every brand. More about being product guys. Good equipment is good equipment, doesn't matter who makes it. That's what we're here to determine.
i like storage on the ca am better.
for 200 bucks more a month you can git a 2016 ford f250 with plenty of room and a lot more storage and tow capacity
T Ramsdell fuck I wouldn’t drive the utv off nice trails for 18k. I would get a pick up, think bub there road legal
I am a ford guy but you cannot always go as fast and get into small spaces, the ride in a truck isn't nearly as good either. But you can tow more and haul more
But that's not a side by side? Everyone likes different things boss
Polaris all the way !!!
Yamaha makes the best UTV`S and ATV`S tho...
What about fit and finish as well as quality of the plastics and tie rods, A arms etc? I always find that Polaris is lacking in those categories. Look at the rangers gauges, old analogue style where the can am has both analog and digital and a much nicer fit and finish. If you're dumping that kind of cash on something like this, the plastics shouldn't be out of a hot wheels car like a Polaris, that's why they are cheaper
Agreed. I just sold my Ranger for a 2023 Defender. I'm sorry but the room is way better in the defender. Also the bed is bigger.
Just an Amphibious version.
I love polaris ranger
He meet to say 6 people and all there beer where I come from lol
That’s stupid how big these are and how little their motors are... why not just put a 1600 in there? A light super bike has more power than these massive machines.
Dirt Trax I watch everything you guys put out. But I think you guys need to come to Iowa and play on our 600+ acres. Our Defender XT is leaps and bounds over our Ranger 900xp and our three 570s. And the fit and finish is way better than our General 1000. The defenders clutching is the best out, the polaris Rangers and especially the general have very jumpy clutching. The Rangers cab is small and tight a more up right seating, along with very little leg room, feels like driving a 18 wheeler. In the Ranger 900 your face feels like it's gonna kiss the windshield on trails. The Defender XT is plush, it rides and drives like a off road Cadillac, and alot of room. I'm 6'1 230lbs and I almost feel small in the Defender. The Defenders turning radius is mucb better than the Rangers aswell. Everything we've done the Defender does it better, the Torque is insane, has more low end torque then our General 1000. We use them everyday from farming, wood hauling and snow plowing. The Defender is worth much much more than any Ranger on the market.
Caylor Teepe remember...the dt staff are all polaris fanboys.
paid for by polaris
Polaris looks and feels cheap. If you want to break down or have endless recalls or runs bad, buy Polaris. I just bought the defender a few weeks ago, and it is built crazy well. It feels super solid, it is solid metal and rigid plastic, unlike polaris's cheap feeling and performing plastic. The defender is hands down the best. I did a lot of research on the biggest 4-6 seater sidexsides and every dealer I went to confirmed that Polaris was absolute shit. If you want reliability, so with the defender or the Kawasaki mule, however the mule does lack in power.
Peter Jones I bet you went to every other dealer then Polaris there going to say it's shit so they have a better chance of you buying their product
Door Nets. Get scissors or knife, cut straps, and throw in trash can.
Ahahah yeah okay I have a polaris ranger everything's maxed out, I am very unhappy with it now I have a can am MUCH better
Hey this Is a great review.. but this channel never says anything about can am shit visco lok. if u are a farmer or a construction worker.. don't buy the can am unless u like 3 wheel drive
FRIESENBOYZ OFFROAD Canadian if you knew how to articulate your right thumb to heep the front end locked, you wouldn't be grenading front diffs.
Can am is new to the 6 seater utv so they copy Polaris and put little upgrades because they can't think of what to do themselves
Andrew Dopson just like polaris did to the defender
dude the first Polaris ranger was released around 1997, and first
cam am side by side released in 2010 so get you facts right
Andrew Dopson You could say that about anything
V3MD How, thats just the straight facts
I agree with that as well Polaris has always been the top side by side on the market and could easily take down Can Am in say build quality and reliability
The rangers a 900 and can an is 1000 so it’s not an even showdown
Not that the outcome of the scoring will be any difference, but this should have been between a 2017 CanAm Defender HD10 MAX vs a 2017 Polaris Ranger XP 1000 CREW. Again, with what scored the CanAm higher might not have made a difference with the new Ranger 1000.
I think polaris spent a lot of money on advertising and paying for these video's. If you want something that's going to fall apart, but polaris.
You always chose Polaris cause they pay you off .no one would chose smooth over fast please try to come up with a better lie !
Why didn’t the can amm get the first point. It was the power... it puts it down better... it has more power... so how did Polaris win?
Levi Wells polaris wrote the bigger check to dirtrax.
You dint watch it did you
Can_ am more like canned _ham
What about the ugly category, looks like a tie to me
With all these posts about dependability .......
Smooth? Ranger? Pshhhhhh nothing smooth about there transmissions.......
Finally about time Polaris loses at something
I run both on our 100,000 acre ranch in the mountains of west Texas ( ranger diesel crew & Defender HD8.) Someone must have jacked those movable storage bins in my CanAm. That's my biggest complaint. The CanAm is much more enjoyable to operate when running around however, for some reason it is 10X worse about dust. My ranger has aftermarket shocks, axles, and a minor lift. I prefer the ranger in the backcountry. Not apples to apples but, my Ranger is my "Go-To" if I'm not in a hurry, need to go cross-country, or do some heavy lifting.
Your delusional if you think Ranger motor wins in the power category lol can am for the win also in the reliability category also
This is complet shit grab 4 adults and a aditional 500lbs in bed and grab yamaha and kawi shit id even grab the honda 4 up and see a top speed accelaration pulling power and ground clearance and trail ride .....because nobody truly has a video which vehicle is the best to work or play with the family or to grab for a cruise around town or beach
