Okay so Ik there’s a lot about like how much each of them is talking- or interrupting etc. Damiano and Victoria and the ones who speak English the best so they take the lead with most English interviews. Ethan I think understands the language well but struggles to speak it (or it takes some time for him to think about what he’s saying/to process) and Thomas himself has said that his English is poor. Victoria and Thomas started the band and she is like who made it in a sense so it’s understandable that she’d want to take charge, and also people are quick to bash women who try to take control of the narrative labelling them as bossy or whatever. However I do understand and get what people are saying about Victoria and Damiano (mainly Victoria) talking too much/not letting others talk or are interrupting a lot during interviews (which can be frustrating especially in this one when the question was specifically for Ethan). That being said even in the Italian interviews Ethan is more introverted anyway, so that too could be a reasoning for his ‘lack’ of answering. I’ve also seen some other people (who are Italian) say that it isn’t uncommon or considered rude when interrupting people(you are close with like friends and family) as it seem as a sign of a good bond. Even still with that in mind I do hope that Victoria does give the chance for the rest of the band in particular Ethan the opportunity to talk and yeah. That’s my 2 cents.
If Victoria could act as a translator sometimes for other guys that would make them feel more comfortable, we could know more from them, and that would be stimulating them speaking more English easily.

That's is so true...Ethan tried to answer but was shouted out by Victoria right away....she might try to help with the English but I also think that she wants all the attention on her.. Damiano also speaks English but she didn't give him a chance.
It'd be better is she'd let the others speak and then translate afterwards...

Victoria was interrupting but I don't think it is due being rude. I think Thomas and Ethan may be very anxious speaking english and don't feel confident yet so it is their own dynamic and agreement about doing interviews in english. And if they feel like they would want to speak more in these, I am sure they will figure it out and do that more later on (because after such fame and love wordwide, they will have lots of english interviews for sure). Love them

I've been watching maneskin interviews lately and i have to say that yours is honestly the best one! It is effortless, casual, interesting and fun!! Finally someone that doesn't focus on how hot Damiano is!

I understand that Ethan and Thomas’ English is not the best specially Thomas’ who seems to have a problem understanding it and speaking it, but Ethan can clearly understand the whole interview. He is nodding and his face reactions and body language are appropriate to what they are saying so he clearly understands. I know Victoria is the one that dominates the language more and may be the spokesperson of the group but that question was directed at Ethan and he was clearly ready to answer it. It may have taken him a few seconds but you can see that he was ready. Instead of cutting him off it would be better to let him start talking and if along the way he starts struggling too much then Victoria or Damiano can intervene and help him. How is he going to learn and start getting comfortable if he gets talked over?? Yes, he’s shy and an introvert and even in Italian he doesn’t speak much but he still talks so no, I don’t think his personality is that much of a hinderance when he really wants to say something. This time he really wanted to say something even if it was in English and the moment was taken from him.
I know she doesn’t have bad intentions with doing that and that Thomas and Ethan may have even asked her before the interview to help them but still. If he starts talking and isn’t looking at any of the members for help let him talk and if it isn’t going so smoothly then intervene but please let him talk, those moments are so rare and fans want to enjoy it even if it comes in the form of a butcher english, we don’t care we just want to hear him.

She asked great questions. I'd love to know more about who's styling them (like who set up the genius Etro collaboration). Someone's doing a great job. They've gone from slightly naff, ragtag street musicians to fashion/rock gods.

@@silviachicos155 No. I don't know how you mist it but when the interviewer asked Thomas a question you can see Damiano has to translate it to him in Italian, this happens regularly in interviews. His vocabulary is very limited in English, so out of convenience Damiano and Vic usually take the initiative to answer questions. Ethan's English is also bad, however, he's also very introverted and not very talkative. Victoria isn't cutting them off to be rude, she's helping them out.

@@amarcordium She didn't even wait to see if he needed help or not. She just kept on talking in spite of question being asked directly to Ethan. She does that during interviews in Italian too, so it's not a question of language.
@@likac92009 She doesn’t do that in Italian interviews, I’ve been following them for years and I never noticed that. Vic and Damiano have always been the most talkative ones, while Ethan is more reflective, he lets others speak first. Stop assuming things when you don’t know these guys, they all have an incredibly strong and sincere bond with one another, you don’t get to see such a special friendship everyday. She did interrupt him in this interview, but I’m sure that she didn’t mean any harm and that they’d all laugh while reading your assumptions.

In the world of rock music sing-back (pre-recorded music) is a no-go. But of course I don't blame Måneskin, they clearly state that they naturally would have prefered to perform live, if they were allowed. Still, I cannot help getting sad when they almost defend and excuses the way the organisers and EBU produces the show nowadays. But it makes sence in a way, since they as all other contestants are invited by their broadcaster to perform in the contest. And that's not an easy position for complaining when you're expected to feel lucky for just being there. Most likely they are also advised by RAI and their manager not to make much fuss about the issue.
According to what I know there is no doubt that the majority of artists in general would have prefered a live music show (or at least a choice to use live music) but since new artists come and go every year it's hard to ask them to rebel about this issue.
In the end it's us, the fan community which represents the continuity and long lines. And we are the only ones which in the long turn can do anything about the issue. For many years large parts of the fan-community seemed to be totally blended by all the impressive visuals aspects of the contest, but lately when even commentators from leading Eurovision bloggs ( for instance Wiwibloggs) are starting to praise the Sanremo festival-orchestra... Maybe there's hope for change in horizon?

It would be great to have live music back but I guess the show will be longer as they will need to prepare the orchestra, also I guess every country would need their own Orchestra director...I guess that's why Sanremo take about 6 hours per show
@@Adri4nadrian The reason Sanremo almost take 6 hours has nothing to do with the live orchestra or the music production. It take so long because Sanremo is not just a music competion, it's also a kind of talk show with lot's of celebrity guests from various sector of Italian public life. And there are also many guest singers and musicians performing or comedians having various acts. One year they even had lottery where people could win a car. So all kinds of features in one show. From what I've seen, the shifts between participanting songs can go really fast in Sanremo as well. With wireless microphone technology nowadays it's never been smoother to change between various acts who uses live instruments. But it naturally requires extra sound engeneers and technical staff.
I'm still looking for an interview where Victoria and Damiano will politely and patiently let Ethan speak his mind without shouting over him and interrupting him. She felt entitled to answer even when a journalist asked ETHAN a question, a question that he clearly understood and was willing to answer. :(
I agree, for a second I was so happy to finally hear Ethan, but she stole his moment. I wish they would let him speak! He was clearly ready to say something. Some people say that "Ethan is so quiet all the time", well, let him speak then.
from what i can gather, ethan seems to understand english better than he can speak it, so victoria and damiano often help him out with his answers (which is why we can often see his saying ‘yeah, exactly’ or just nodding). so don’t worry, they aren’t being rude! they’re just trying to help him!

Victoria, like in general some Italians may do, is eager to express herself and that is great but she needs to give time to Ethan to answer the question. Either way, they are very much a band or unified unit. Maneskin will go many places in the future ...

The only mistake that Vic makes when she speaks English is mispronouncing infinitive verbs, as in here when she said "it could went well" or another interview when she said "I didn't went...", but it's cute when she does it

The only thing that I find extremely annoying and frustrating is that they don't give Ethan and Thomas a chance to talk. I mean, when the question was addressed to Ethan, Victoria interrupted him and started to talk. It's disrespectful. I love these guys, but I don't watch their interviews especially because of that...

Thomas and Ethan have explained in other interviews that they aren't completely confident with their English and that is why theychoose to let Damiano and Victoria take the lead in the Eurovision interviews - the band admit that when it comes to interviews in Italian they all answer equally - but the situation with the English-speaking interviews isn't because they are being disrespected - it's exactly the opposite - the fact that they have said they aren't confident is being completely respected and so Victoria and Damiano "have their backs" during the interviews.

@@denise9461 non-native English speakers (like me btw) often feel like it'd be too embarrassing to speak while making mistakes, especially if the person one is speaking to is a native speaker themselves, so there's pressure to speak well or not speak at all. It's understandable that people wish to hear more from them too but everyone needs to let them gain confidence with speaking English at their own pace. Speaking a foreign language is stressful! I think lots of native English speakers fail to grasp this lol
Thomas and Ethan simply are not that confident with English . It's not like in Italy we speak English , we speak Italian . Victoria and Damiano are the ones who speak English as s second language

Don't jump to conclusions so quick please. Maybe they asked her to help them. In italian culture we are so eager to express ourselves, so passionate that sometimes we talk over each other. I live abroad and as an italian I spent time to adjust myself, waiting for others to finish their sentences. Give young people time to grow, don't be so harsh please. You're blaming a 20 years old girl using words such as "disturbing", what if she's reading this? Give her time to settle down. Harsh judgment online are very impactful on young people mental health.

Haven't watched hardly any Eurovision in the past years. The few actual vocalists are not worth all the other nonsense.
