    I bought my A7 for $250 secondhand, and my first full-frame lens was $20 (vintage SMC Takumar 50mm F1.4). And yes, the A7 is better than the a6000 in pretty much every way that you can think of. For photography, I think the original A7 is one of the best and most budget-friendly cameras a beginner can buy.
    Also, when you are a beginner, vintage lenses are awesome. They cost a fraction of modern lenses and they will teach you so much about photography. So yeah, I totally don't share your opinion.

  • @dalimustache9844
    @dalimustache9844 Před 2 lety +15

    I completely agree with your opinion. I have been using the a6000 for more than 2 years now and I am still improving my photos. I think to really use it to its full potential there is a lot to do...maybe the desire to change is more psychological. It's like if you ride a very powerful bike and you make it go full throttle on the straights and that's why you want a more powerful one...but in the corners the one who rides the bike well with less power goes harder 😉. Thanks for your great advice as always. Bravo!

      @TomsJurjaks  Před 2 lety +3

      I totally agree. Social media, peers, and general psychological pressure drives us to buy the latest and newest. The urge is very strong but the fact is, we can still create lots of amazing content and learn new things even with slightly outdated tech. Keep on creating Dali!

    I’ve been using the A6000 now for about 6 months. Recently been looking at upgrading to the A7c. As a hobbyist I love the smaller form factor, but full frame with the some of the newest features of their other bodies.

    • @TomsJurjaks
      @TomsJurjaks  Před 2 lety +6

      If you feel like you have been grown out of A6000 then a nice compact Full Frame is gonna be very good, fresh start. A7C as far as I know is pretty brilliant. Don't forget that you will have to invest some cash in Full Frame lenses, but if you stick with the hobby, its gonna be worth an investment. Cheers!

    I just picked up an A6300 a few weeks ago. Love it so far. I have an A7 also. I absolutely loved it, but my auto focus no longer works. All I can say is that I took some epic pis on the A7. I need to shoot more on my A6300 to say which one is better.

    While the budget argument is definitely valid, i'm not sure i totally agree with you.
    I got into photography a couple months ago with an A6000 and APSC lenses and i quickly ran out of light.
    The small sensor can't carry as much light, the ISO capabilities are pretty poor (don't bother going above 800 ISO), the dynamic range and the color depth isn't great and the lack of IBIS doesn't help.
    I also realised that the vast majority of sharp lenses are FF too (exception being the Sigma primes for APSCs), so pretty much all of my lenses are FF ones.
    Only advantages of these APSC cameras are the size, the autofocus performance compared to similarly priced FFs and the price of the body which is fairly insignificant since you're gonna spend way more on lenses anyway.
    Just my two cents from someone who wished they went full frame right away.

    • @TomsJurjaks
      @TomsJurjaks  Před 2 lety +9

      Hey Dede, I totally agree with your argument and you make a very valid point for yourself. However, the majority of the people doesn't get to outgrow their gear for years and years. Most beginners never even shoot at night or any challenging environments and heck, doesn't even dare to shoot RAW. So for most, it would simply be an overkill to start off with such big investment as FF camera and FF lenses as chances are that they will be using the camera each weekend at best.
      And I was in your shoes once too. Bought my very first own camera (most basic Canon 1100D) and outgrew it in about 7 months as I took over 30.000 pictures going out to shoot every single day. But most beginners are in a different situation than us. Cheers. Appreciate your feedback.

    Been using the a6000 for quite a few years now. Recently came across a cheap A7II and thought i might upgrade (could have sold my a6000 for $100 less than what i paid for the A7II). After using the A7II for a couple of weeks I’ve concluded it’s just not worth it. Sure it has IBIS (but then so do most of my lenses) but the weight and size just aren’t worth it for me, and the loss of 11fps down to 4fps seemed like a bigger downgrade than anything I gained from full frame. So I’m back to using the a6000 and will put the money towards a f/2.8 Tamron 70-180 instead.

    • @TomsJurjaks
      @TomsJurjaks  Před 12 hodinami

      I get you. I used to have A7II too and although at the time it seemed fine, now I understand there were lot better options out there. If your budget allows, I can’t recommend A6700 enough and to stick with apsc. The Tamron lens is also really nice. I got the 17-70mm f2.8 and am loving it too!

  • @LasseCLand
    @LasseCLand Před 2 lety +2

    the only thing i dont like with the a6000 is low light capacity, only eye autofocus in singleshot and no face/eye animal auto focus, but for a beginner that just wanna see where the photo's takes you is nice, but would recommend an a6400 or an a6600. but yes aps-c over fullframe, smaler package with the camera and lenses, love my combo with tamron 17-70 and sony 70-350.

    • @TomsJurjaks
      @TomsJurjaks  Před 2 lety +1

      Hey Lasse, yeah a6000 of course is a bit outdated, but luckily most of the beginners never find themselves shooting in darkness so thats a plus for the camera 😀 And hot damn, thats an amazing combo. Would love to have that set. Get a Sigma 30mm f1.4 or Sigma 56mm f1.4 prime lens and its gonna make your setup a dream one for sure 🔥

    As I beginner, I want an APS-C and I want Sony (because the AF). But I wish the strengths of the A6xxx series could be combined with the newer ZV features: A ZV-E10 with the new menu, rolling shutter improvement, EVF and maybe even decent IBIS in a better build, but with the cool gimmicky features like product placement and instant bokeh, as well as direct USB for live streaming. Very nice, concise presentation. Subscribed and thanks.

    • @TomsJurjaks
      @TomsJurjaks  Před 2 lety +1

      Thank you Arthur! I would still get ZV-E10 now if I would need to get an APS-C camera. Rolling shutter I dont think is such an issue as I personally never pan like crazy in my shots to cause that defect. Regarding IBIS, well, sub 1000$ wont have it but luckily ZV-E10 has gyroscopic data that you can use to stabilize the footage. Anyways, lots of cameras to choose from. I hope you will find your perfect one 💪

    The thing is that in my country you can get secondhand a7 cheaper than a6000 and if you're lucky the a7 ii for the price of a6300. The entire 6k line up is so hyped here that the secondhand ones are really not that much cheaper.

    • @TomsJurjaks
      @TomsJurjaks  Před rokem

      If you just compare the bodies then yes, but going full frame is soooooo much more expensive. Any decent lens will cost 2 if not 3-4x more than APS-C equivalent and thats where you gonna "lose" ton of money in a long run.

    I actually looking for a a7 now since i had my a6000 for half a year. Kind of miss fullframe. I dont know what i want ot choose tho. Should i get an a6400 or an a7 or a a7ii? I kind of like the eye tracking that the 6400 has but the benefits from a full frame might be better.
    I mostly do Models in studio or on a location and street-photos. Is a a7 worth it for the benefits of a fullframe just for that extra camera? What say you? Sure i like all the benefits of the newer cameras but do i actually need them? 24mp feels quite alright for me aswell.

      Hey Ola and thanks for the comment. I used to have A7II and it was great, but that was over 3 years ago. If it was now, I would not get anything older than A7C or A7III. If budget allows, of course A7IV is ideal, which I actually got 6 months ago and couldn't like it more.
      Full Frame of course has its great look, but remember with Full Frame, you will have to invest a lot more in Full Frame lenses. I think bigger benefit is to get a newer APS-C camera (like A6400 or ZV-E10) rather than old Full Frame camera (like A7 or A7II). But ultimately only you will know whats best for you. The downside of upgrading to A7II or A7RII is that you will have to invest a lot in new Full Frame lenses. If you don't have the budget for good lenses, I think its better to stick with A6000 or upgrade to A6100/ZV-E10 and instead invest in good lenses. Generally, you will feel yourself that there is a need to upgrade to Full Frame. If you feel like A6000 is really limiting you in super challenging environment, then its time to upgrade.

      50mm 1.8 FE is way better than the 50mm 1.8 F lens (which is considered to be the worse full frame lens available). What I will say is the focal length on the a6000 makes it more of a portrait lens and you’ll find it too tight indoors. Consider the 35mm 1.8 as a more walk around indoor option, or the 28 f/2 (which was my choice and is full frame compatible if you want to upgrade later - although doesn’t have OSS).

      Hey Aztareth, I will tell you this: "Choose the lens ecosystem and not the camera". Any camera will do the job well, differences are so minor you will not see it. Prices change yes and there are some more budget options, some are more expensive, but what really matters is the lenses you can buy because that is the most important thing. Canon for example just forbid any 3rd party lenses to be manufactured for their RF Mount means you would only be able to buy their (very expensive lenses) while Nikon and Sony allows to choose from plenty of lens options. So first see what offers more/better/various lenses and choose from there instead of picking just 1 camera.

      Depends on what you gonna use it for. Best lens is different for everyone. I like Tamron 17-70 f2.8 as a great all around zoom lens

      Hey, I've never heard about that program so I can't comment. But you can download my free presets on the website and try out yourself before purchasing the Premium ones
