Antler carving & Leather Working - Making a sami repair kit

  • I needed a place to put my leather sewing needles, so i made this sami style repair kit from antler, buckskin and some red felt , it turned out really good, and i am very pleased whit it. I hope you will enjoy the video, subscribe and leave a comment if you do!

    What kind of stain/ink do you use on the antler? It looks amazing.

    How did you twist the leather without it springing or unwinding? I tried to twist some similar to how you did but It just unravels or it's SO tight that it just curls weird.

      Use veg tan leather, wet it then twist. Clamp it (pegs/small plastic clamps) to keep it taut whilst it dries? I’ve had some success with round cord using a Namejas twist that I would normally use in silver or bronze. Failing that, make some bolo cord-it works and looks good. Good luck!

      thank you :D! it is a needle case , that you use for carrying needle and thread around in the artic region, there a needle and thread can be the difference between life and death if your clothes rip, and you need to repair them :D

      @@zakisworkshop you ever been to afctic zone? I ve bien there many times. You have a car, a snowbike etc everywhere.anx you have a clothes that hardly can be torn apart. I was sledging in noreste dnd sweden, skiing in nord cap, not even thinking Bout dime needles and rhreads
