I love how she organize her van. A lot of small mini vans are always congested with a lot of stuff around. This lady kept her space clutter free and nice.
It's so cool to see other people's vision and solutions. I went a different route with my '05 Z71, with just a second battery and full platform in the back that is high enough to fit totes under it. It works well, but I am thinking of trying this style next to see which I prefer. Thanks for sharing it.
Hi Kevin my son is 5ft10 & the bed ht. was measured for his head clearance while sitting. I mostly slide camping gear under the bed. When it’s opened fully I used early most of the space for things that I don’t use daily. I’ll check out your page. Thanks!!
This is a fantastic Suburban build. Why have I not seen this until now. Well done, too bad she doesn't have any other videos. Built out Suburbans are kinda rare.
I , like many others on here , have watched several suburban converts .,Yours is absolutely incredible . The simplicity , the convenience of the layout , and the overall sense of comfort just adds so much to what you’ve done . I am totally impressed . Please keep us in the loop about your trips and experiences . You have undoubtedly inspired me and I’m sure many others . Thank you and please be safe out there . ( by the way , black rat/ racer snakes are harmless and they are also good luck ) 👍👍👍👍👍
Ive watched about a dozen videos of this type of setup in an SUV as opposed to a van and yours is by far the best....Im looking to do the same, thanks for the inspiration
Awesome video!!! Remember to consult with an electrician to make sure the fuse sizes are OK. Having too large fuse could cause the wires catching fire in the event of an overload.
The recommendations came from Renology Solar, the company where I purchased the system. It was their fix to the two 15amp fuses blowing. I try to be very cautious & never make changes independently with the solar system
You did an amazing job on your build! Love that you went for your vision 🙏 And didn’t let anything stop you. Very inspiring , thanks lady , you rock !!
Definitely one of the coolest suburbans on youtube. Hopefully you consulted your installer or manufacturer before putting a larger 40 amp fuse in your system.
The Renology Solar technicians advised me on changing the two 15 amp fuses to a 40 amp fuse. I definitely sought professional advice with the solar system. Renology has an awesome customer service
Just absolutely Brilliant . I have a YUKON that I'm redoing and have thought for months the best layout. Back and forth. THIS is the most efficient and comfortable lay-out possible. And everything even fits artistically. What a great job. THANK YOU.
Hi Marq, I kinda late responding but if you’re still interested I’d definitely try to post info on how I went about each part of the build. Have a great one!
I just purchased a Honda CRV with the intention of making it liveable for camping adventures or bugout. So many good ideas here. You are a quick study. Thank you!
You can go to Pilot or Loves or some other truckers stop and buy a CB antenna Mount that has a metal bracket and will screw into the metal body of your truck inside the water drip ledge under your hood of your car and then create a small platform on the outside of your hood to mount the antenna. This works well because it uses the whole car as a ground for the antenna and improves signal reception. Have to admit though, I've not seen a CB antenna used for TV before but COOL.
I am impressed! You did a great job!! I'm making a mini camper of my Ford Escape- I'm not brave enough to take on solar and electric, but look at YOU!! I wish you fun and safe travels.
Hi Robyn, I was very nervous so I did extensive research and really took the time to talk to the solar company. The solar system is really simple, mostly plug & play. The instructions are very straight forward. I did have the panels professionally secured to the roof( permanently) & wires run through the head liner. But the actual connections were straight forward. Just adhere to all the safety & manufacturing protocols!!
Thank you for this! I have a 2004 Suburban that I am drawing up plans for a build and you have given me some great ideas.. Much appreciation! Hope to see more!
Such a great set up! I’ve been bingeing on videos for about three months,to learn how to set up my own vehicle. After a while, the basics seem to be the same everywhere, but you have really put a fantastic spin on it. Also, I always learn something new from every single video I watch… For example something so simple but I just love love love the way you have tied up the side curtains! It looks attractive and it’s so tidy! Also, it never occurred to me to bring appliances just in case I have electrical power. I’m definitely gonna throw some stuff in with my gear.
Thanks Linda Sue! Those appliances are life savers. I spent 3 months in the wilderness in Alaska & always had home cooked meals! While camped I’d pull out my induction plate & have at it!
That was a lot of information to present for such a well thought out system; you did a good job of explaining "your vision". I like your setup plus the window screens.
Very impressive build ! Well thought out & good use of space. I like the screens too. Be proud of your truck ! As for a SNAKE getting into your SUV...... yikes ! I have lived in AZ for almost 50 yrs. I have stepped on snakes (surprise!), stepped around them when hiking, watched from a safe distance, heard buzzing while in dense waist high grass, they can be very fast swimmers (canoe trip on the Verde river), and had to coax the dogs back when they turned one up at Sheep Bridge Crossing ....... rattlers are ALWAYS on my mind when in the desert. But, be aware & leave them alone. Most people are bitten when antagonizing the snake. Have never had a snake enter a vehicle, except for the 6' + bull snake that wrapped himself into the undercarriage on my truck. He hissed at me and would not come out. So I parked the truck in the weeds for a few hours till the San Carlos Apache kids told me he was gone. How yours raised itself to bumper level is impressive but I know they can. Hope your camping / travel adventures are all good
Thank for sharing your conversion Suburban! I am so proud of you for completing your vision! I am thinking about converting my Yukon XL into a conversion camper! However, you didn’t say anything about a toilet 🚽? Your camper is the best one I’ve seen.
Hi Rosemary, thanks! For toileting, I carry a portable/collapsible pop up changing/dressing room & a camping toilet 🚽 with lots of trash bags. They make camper toilet bags but regular old trash bags are cheapest & just as good! The pop up room is also good for dressing & cleansing!
Hi, I just found your videos. I'm in Durham too. I love your set up. I wish you had more detail on storage wall and bed design. Love ty for posting this..
Hey April, Great video and excellent execution of your vision into a finished product. I will save video to utilize for my conversion. Two items for you... Use the round mirrors to see you blind spots as they provide a much larger image. The soft furniture pads that have adhesive can be used on compartment doors as well anything that bangs or rattles. Great job,,,
you can NOT simply use 40 amp fuse because 10 amp blew! you will burn up your entire truck, you need to find out what fuse it calls for! if i needs 15 or 20, only use that
Good point. I just learned about this in physics. If you have too high of a fuse, it can allow too much power to go through, which defeats the point of having a fuse, and if you have too small of a fuse, it'll blow just like what was happening to her 10 amp fuses.
I’d never just swap out fuses with an electrical system! The two 15amp fuses were replace with 1 40amp per the advice of the Renology Technician. I'm not exaggerating when I say I watched at least 100 DIY SUV videos to get ideas for my RAV4 and this is by far the best of them allAWESOME.

DON'T LOOK LIKE YOUR FIRST SUV PROJECT. 💯
WoW what a great use of the space you have. Girl, you got it goin on.
Apryl, I love what you have done here! You could live full time in your camper!
That's so crazy. I spent almost $1900 just on my Jackery 1500 and 2 - 100 watt solar panels. You did so freaking good!
Nicely done, Apryl. Great ideas. Very nice Suburban. Hilarious about the snake wanting to hang out in it. Keep making more videos!
Thank you Mark

Yes indeed!! Let me know how your solar turns out. I just updated my solar system to also charge off of dc
