  • @joeanderson444
    @joeanderson444 Pƙed 29 dny +23

I don't know how many games y'all watched but Fields had troubles going through his progressions with proper timing. Receivers usually only get open in a small window right after the first cut in a route. Fields couldn't process fast enough from hot receiver to #2 to #3. It didn't matter who the receivers are when he's staring down #1 too long which nullifies whoever #2 is. He needs to practice making the decisions a lot faster. He missed so many open receivers last year because he got flustered too much leading him to run too often.

There are people who think JF will be the starter by about week 5. THAT’S not going to happen. He’s much more likely to either get traded after preseason (possibly to the Rams, Raiders, Seahawks, or Vikings), or at least sit the bench as QB2 for a year while playing in spots as a WR, KR, etc.
*I HATE TO TELL Y’ALL THIS, BUT THE BEARS TRADED JF TO THE STEELERS BECAUSE THEY KNEW HE WOULD SIT THE BENCH FOR AT LEAST A FULL SEASON*
Peep the game: the Bears dumped JF for Caleb. That was a controversial move. The last thing they needed was to send JF to a loaded squad where he could start and might outplay Caleb as he goes through rookie growing game pains.
JF had requested a trade to the Steelers when he thought his competition would be Mason Rudolph and Jenny Pickett. The Bears had no interest in making that trade until Russ signed there. Now, why do you think that trade became so attractive to the Bears’ front office?!
The Bears only decided to send JF to Pittsburgh AFTER Russ signed, because they knew JF wouldn’t beat out Russ. The Bears don’t need any noise about how they shouldn’t have traded Fields, so they protected themselves by sending him to a team where he would have almost zero chance of starting all year long. That protects the Bears and it protects Caleb.
Any talk of the Bears wanting to do right by JF is bull. The Bears wanted to do right by the Bears. That’s business, and their business needs Caleb to have the freedom to take his lumps without the PR nightmare of Caleb being compared to JF every week. The way to achieve that was to ensure that JF was on the bench!
Yes, if JF were in Seattle it somewhere, he would be very capable of getting off to a hot start, and it would make Caleb and the Bears look bad if Caleb struggled. That could kill Caleb’s confidence.
*REMEMBER THE PICK THE STEELERS TRADED TO CHICAGO*
Even if JF were to take over, the Steelers would wait until at least week 10 just to prevent the Bears from converting that 6th rounder to a 4th rounder - unless Russ is just horrible, and I don’t see that happening. I think he will play MVP-level football.
The pick converts if JF plays more than 50% of the snaps. So, the Steelers have an incentive to keep fields on the bench even if JF somehow miraculously looks as good as Russ or better.
*RUSS IS HEALTHY, SLIMMED DOWN, AND P!SSED OFF, AND HE STILL HAS HIS SKILLS!*
But all of that is moot because Russ is just a better QB! If you have the Steelers’ best interest at heart, you won’t want anything but the better QB starting, what do you want, to lose in style? I’d rather win and be cringy
go to a cringy SB!
People are mistaking JF for LJ, and he’s not that. He’s not even close to that right now, and frankly LJ wouldn’t have beaten out Russ either.
Remember how Russ was playing in 2019 and 2020. He was VERY arguably the best QB in the league. You put Russ and LJ together on the same team with the same coaching before Russ ever went to Denver, and LJ is on the bench. He doesn’t have Russ’s arm talent either.
JF doesn’t have the arm skills or experience to beat out Russ, and although he’s a younger, faster athlete, he’s not faster by that much. Any athletic advantage JF possesses over Russ isn’t enough to compensate for the many advantages Russ has over JF.
Do you want to win more games or just win style points and lose?!
What do you want, to see more of JF and hear more JF interviews? Russ is cringy and corny sometimes, but he’s on a completely different level from JF as a QB.
*THE HATERS NEED TO FALL BACK*
Only people who don’t like Russ’s persona and haven’t watched him would even fathom starting JF over Russ. The people who know football and can look past Russ’s corniness, wordy answers to interview questions, cliches, and slogans, are all for Russ starting. He’s better and he’s going to be better for the next 4 years or so. JF’s game needs work man.

You said all that to say nothing. Russ could very well have an Aaron Rodgers season, in which he has no damn season because of injury. Your banking a whole lot on a 35 year old improvisational QB. I like Russ but he's on a team that's identical to Denver; decent run game, stout defense and average receivers. If he struggles, and he most likely will, Pittsburgh has no problem letting Fields start by week 5. That 6th to a 4th is nothing for opposing conference teams.

NEW RULES on kick returns!! Defense cannot move until the football is caught. This allows better field of vision for the returner.
We will be pleasantly surprised by the creativity of many teams with these new rule changes on kickoffs. Why not have your most athletic players play in the most explosive game-changing plays of the game??
    - How is this disrespectful to QB's who have offensive plays designed for the QB to run the ball?? For kickoffs, the returner has a running headstart against a defense that cannot move until the returner catches the ball.

Kenny Pickett who has 14-10 record v Fields 10-28 record must feel the same way. The Steelers drafted 3 O-Lineman, and added a WR, and now have a competent Offensive Coordinator. Plus, they’re looking to trade for a Big Play WR2. So, Justin’s old team just like Kenny’s old team is doing more to help a QB succeed.

Just for some context Justin Fields asked to be dealt to Pittsburgh so I highly doubt he’s frustrated. He’s smart enough to know that he can gain some valuable experience from sitting behind Russ until his number is called. As far as being frustrated the Bears didn’t help him he might be but that’s the past and while it looks sexy on paper for the Bears games still gotta be played. Looking good on paper and actually producing results on the field are two separate things.

As a giants fan I’m actually annoyed by this idea that the bears didn’t try to build around fields it’s just not true. They traded for dj moore and rebuilt the oline and had a very good running game in place. They started building back the defense and even took a shot on trading for claypool who had shown spots of big play ability in Pittsburgh. Obviously that didn’t work out but you can’t get made they didn’t trade for Keenan Allen because he probably wasn’t available as a trade option so when he was they jumped on it and getting mad they drafted a guy that is getting hype as the next Mahomes is just ridiculous. If fields had been better and was putting up 4500 yards and 28-32 tds this wouldn’t even be a discussion but he wasn’t he is an average passing qb who is electric as a runner.

I want to see Justin as a running back. He’s a gifted runner, and you can use his arm talent to do some trick plays where Russ can lateral it back if he sees nothing and let Justin either run for it or throw to an open man that the defense might not be prepared for. Since they’ll be running after him like a running back. With that couple seconds of reaction time to get away with it.
