NEW RULES on kick returns!! Defense cannot move until the football is caught. This allows better field of vision for the returner. We will be pleasantly surprised by the creativity of many teams with these new rule changes on kickoffs. Why not have your most athletic players play in the most explosive game-changing plays of the game?? - How is this disrespectful to QB's who have offensive plays designed for the QB to run the ball?? For kickoffs, the returner has a running headstart against a defense that cannot move until the returner catches the ball.
It was because they changed the nfl kickoff rules đ shows how many of yâall are actually casual football fans but everyone think they a diehard. Also didnât even hear the whole clip from the podcast
Iâm not a Steelers fan by no stretch. I do admire and respect the organization. When my uncle was playing for them. I said to him âBig bro how yâall just going too let go of your best two skill position players. His reply âthis shit over here is not for the weakâ The aftermath both players careers essentially over. One had a slight resurgence for one year and then the inevitable happened.
Kenny Pickett who has 14-10 record v Fields 10-28 record must feel the same way. The Steelers drafted 3 O-Lineman, and added a WR, and now have a competent Offensive Coordinator. Plus, theyâre looking to trade for a Big Play WR2. So, Justinâs old team just like Kennyâs old team is doing more to help a QB succeed.
Built the team then got Caleb. Bc JF isn't worth the money they'll have to oay after next season and Caleb is rare talent on a rookie contract. Poles didn't draft him and gave him 2 seasons to prove himself. When he didn't he made sure he went to a team of his choosing. If he's mad he can only be mad at himself
Bustin Fields fumbled every game he ever played and held every pass 1 second longer than any other quarterback. Career backup. We would never settle for that chump
Just for some context Justin Fields asked to be dealt to Pittsburgh so I highly doubt heâs frustrated. Heâs smart enough to know that he can gain some valuable experience from sitting behind Russ until his number is called. As far as being frustrated the Bears didnât help him he might be but thatâs the past and while it looks sexy on paper for the Bears games still gotta be played. Looking good on paper and actually producing results on the field are two separate things.
Not that bad of an idea honestly, as a diehard Bears fan I wanted Fields to succeed, but heâs got a lot of issues to fix before he has a chance to be a good NFl QB.
Has there been been a player that resembled Yoda in the face more than Justin Fields? If Justin and Janet yelled had a child it would literally look like Yoda it would.
As a giants fan Iâm actually annoyed by this idea that the bears didnât try to build around fields itâs just not true. They traded for dj moore and rebuilt the oline and had a very good running game in place. They started building back the defense and even took a shot on trading for claypool who had shown spots of big play ability in Pittsburgh. Obviously that didnât work out but you canât get made they didnât trade for Keenan Allen because he probably wasnât available as a trade option so when he was they jumped on it and getting mad they drafted a guy that is getting hype as the next Mahomes is just ridiculous. If fields had been better and was putting up 4500 yards and 28-32 tds this wouldnât even be a discussion but he wasnât he is an average passing qb who is electric as a runner.
Kickoff will be very different this year. The teams that thrive will be very creative. Some teams drafted and signed undrafted quarterbacks for special roles on kickoff. Open your mind to the possibilities with the new alignment. Justin is a running quarterback. You make 1 move you in open field.đź There will be some trickery.
I want to see Justin as a running back. Heâs a gifted runner, and you can use his arm talent to do some trick plays where Russ can lateral it back if he sees nothing and let Justin either run for it or throw to an open man that the defense might not be prepared for. Since theyâll be running after him like a running back. With that couple seconds of reaction time to get away with it.
I donât know why he would be upset at the bears. He was so bad, they had a top 5 offensive line and he still held on to the ball. Dudes got maybe 2 more years before heâs going to have to change positions or just never play again.
Dunno if it's been said, but Joe Theismann did returns with Washington before being the starting QB. Granted, this was in the mid 70's and he hadn't started for anyone other than the Toronto Argonauts
The Bears traded him where he wanted to go. The Steelers are building the team for him to start next year. They'll ley Wilson take the shots this year while they further build the O line
The fact that anyone is taking this Justin Fields returning kickoffs seriously is absolutely RIDICULOUSđ He is not going to return any kicks. He might have some sub packages within the OFFENSE. No special teams for Fields. Now, as far as Fields watching the Bears going nuts building up the offense for Caleb, that is something I would be sooooo pissed about if I was Fields. That is a legit narrative.
He gotta fire his agent asap

- How is this disrespectful to QB's who have offensive plays designed for the QB to run the ball?? For kickoffs, the returner has a running headstart against a defense that cannot move until the returner catches the ball.
Fields will not return a single kick. He is there to relieve Russ when we finally have confirmation that Russ is washed.
This...lol
It was because they changed the nfl kickoff rules đ shows how many of yâall are actually casual football fans but everyone think they a diehard. Also didnât even hear the whole clip from the podcast
Tim Tebow has entered the chat
Joe Thiesman was a punt returner for the Washington Redskins to start his career in the NFL as well as the backup QB.
Joe Thiesman used to return punts for the Redskins in the late 70s while he was sitting behind Billy Kilmer and Sonny Jurgensen
That run he had against the EGURLS was so FN hardâŠ.
Iâm not a Steelers fan by no stretch. I do admire and respect the organization.
When my uncle was playing for them. I said to him âBig bro how yâall just going too let go of your best two skill position players. His reply âthis shit over here is not for the weakâ
The aftermath both players careers essentially over. One had a slight resurgence for one year and then the inevitable happened.
Yall remember in the early maddens when we used to put Micheal Vick as a kick returner. I forget what year it was.
as a bears fan i miss him and feel bad for him but i think caleb was the better option, hope fields does well in Pittsburgh
Damn JF1 Sorry this happened to you. We still think you could have had success with the lineup we have now. Good luck there BEAR DOWN.
Pickett sucks tho
Take it now Steelers to win Division +900 remember my name and Fields is leading the team doing it.
Put him at run back and run throw back passes and HB options as apart of the scheme to keep teams less aggressive against the run. Opens up the run
He's got a good shot at being the Steelers starter. Sure Wilson's officially the man but let's see who learns the offense best.
Bruh those laterals about to be INSANE! Iâm here for it đ„
As someone who lives in Ohio and has always been a OSU fan I thought he declared for the draft way too soon and wasnât good enough yet.
The more insane situation is labeling yourself an NfL QB and you literally cannot throw the ball.
If he does end up a kick returner i hope he balls out like devin hester
Message from a heartbroken but optimistic bears fan
I still think they should run 2 QBs on the field at the same time and use him as an RB and QB
The Steelers donât know wtf they wanna do. Welcome to being the Browns of the division for the 2020âs
This was a joke and not actually returning kickoffs
It doesn't hurt to have Fields prepared to play special teams.
In a win or go home moment I'd want the best athlete back; there if they were prepared.
đ the shenanigans no way in hell Fields is returning kickoffs đ.!! That would be ludicrous
They tried to make him a pocket QB last year. Thatâs failure by coaching imo. He has incredible skills and only a fool would ruin that
Justin knows heâs not good.
That SLASH Role okđ
Kickoff will be very different this year. The teams that thrive will be very creative. Some teams drafted and signed undrafted quarterbacks for special roles on kickoff. Open your mind to the possibilities with the new alignment. Justin is a running quarterback. You make 1 move you in open field.đź There will be some trickery.
To go from starting QB Justin Fields
to staring Kick Returner, Justin Cribbs đ
Get him in the black and silver asap that will revive his career
Steelers mentality, you buy in and help the team. Show you can play football
They literally signed cordy P zero percent chance heâs returning kicks
I want to see Justin as a running back. Heâs a gifted runner, and you can use his arm talent to do some trick plays where Russ can lateral it back if he sees nothing and let Justin either run for it or throw to an open man that the defense might not be prepared for. Since theyâll be running after him like a running back. With that couple seconds of reaction time to get away with it.
He should be grateful to have a good coach
I donât know why he would be upset at the bears. He was so bad, they had a top 5 offensive line and he still held on to the ball. Dudes got maybe 2 more years before heâs going to have to change positions or just never play again.
Williams gonna struggle with da bears đ»
You dont have too many chances in the NFL to show that you're THE QB, regardless of inconsistent staffing.
Fields could always learn to read defenses.
Theismann was a punt returner when he was the backup in Washington.
Dunno if it's been said, but Joe Theismann did returns with Washington before being the starting QB. Granted, this was in the mid 70's and he hadn't started for anyone other than the Toronto Argonauts
The Tim Tebow treatment
he will be the starter by the sixth game. Chicago did him totally wrong and he will be a star in this league soon! He never had a chance in Chicago!
That's a great kickoff returner
Why is the video image Justin Fields in front of the Pancake House in Lewis Center???? đđđ
He turned into Joe Webbđđđđđđđđđđđđđđđ
My first thought was maybe he was going to be used to hold the ball for the kicker, so he could do some trick pass plays đ
They won't do that, that's just gossip
Good luck Justin I hope you have a great career Bear down!
The Bears traded him where he wanted to go. The Steelers are building the team for him to start next year. They'll ley Wilson take the shots this year while they further build the O line
This was a 1 guy statement, they have already said this wasnât happening, he hears things then makes a video about itâŠ..
He'd be on kick return for reverse plays where he would throw a backwards pass to the other returner
Fields will be just fine.
This all-around playing worked for Kordell Stewart
Back in the day the best athletes always were on the field. Itâs different but not completely crazy.
That is a legit narrative.
đThat turtleneck keeps getting worse and worse the more I look at it đ«Łđ”âđ«đ€Ł
Um yâall forgetting about Joe Webb III he returned kicks and was mainly Quarterback but used as a wide receiver at times
As a Buckeye fan I want him to succeed. As a Bengals fan.....not in Pitt lol.
