I just love this video. I don’t care that it, and the cars it depicts, and the people, have aged. I would swap the Britain of 1988 with that of 2018 in a heartbeat if I could.

I’d swap any period of western civilization for the one that we’ve found ourself in the last few years.

my dad had one when I was a kid it was fun af to sit in when my dad drove. And I'm pretty sure this was the car that made my dad an amazing driver. Only my dad drove a coupe... and it was rwd and it did not have a Granada in its name because our was an eurpean version not a british version. And he also had the fastest and the most reliable package for scorpio. He sold it in 2003 I think and he bought audi 200 turbo (which is a beast of its own) but after all these years my dad says that the scorpio was the best car he ever owned

Really wanted my dad to buy a 2.9 Ghia when I was about 14 but he never bought anything more than a 2 litre. I tried to convince him that the 2.4 V6 Ghia would be a happy medium but he wouldn't have any of it! Gutted as my uncle always had top of the range 3 litre cars......

I've got a late '87 2.9 V6 Granada Scorpio, so virtually the same as Boff's here, minus the leather seats, 15" wheels and cruise.
It's a bit of a barge but is quite a laugh.
The Scorpio was never the last word in handling! I think the E28/E34 5 Series would have had that claim !

And the Scorpio was still nothing compared to an Australian Falcon of the time (the later unleaded XF). While it didn't pull up as well due to a lack of ABS, it returned better economy out of a 4.1 litre EFI inline six, didn't handle as well (they were a bit of a barge even when new) but would last forever and a day (most of the ones that haven't been written off are still going, either as paddock bashers or on the road).

That said, cars DO last better in Aus than the UK (for example) because they don't rust anywhere near as badly.

Hmm, Jackie Stewart there talking about safety on the road, and yet his lane discipline was horrendous. Maybe the traffic police he visits should have reminded him that taking racing lines on public roads is not really a good idea. His beloved ABS would be of little help to him in a head on collision. Especially if a HGV happened to be coming the other way. Which he wouldn't have seen coming as he could barely see over the wheel. Should have given him a Fiesta instead. With a booster cushion on the driver's seat.

@@Shiggiesmalls02 There's a great deal of difference between driving on a track and driving on a public road. I don't need to be a racing driver to understand how to position a car safely on the road. Mr Stewart's lane discipline is appalling, and if you think this type of driving is acceptable, then you should never ever be given a licence to drive.
