    In this video we discuss how the PENN SLAMMER 4 has changed over the battle-proven PENN SLAMMER 3. I go in detail what may be missed in just reading the manufacturer's description on their website.

    Excellent review as consumers we want to know our money to value makes sense. You review is clear points out the difference between the 3 and 4 to justify the extra cost.

    I got a Slammer 3 3500 when it came out. And bought a Slammer 4 5500 recently. And honestly I find no difference. They are both excellent reels. I also have 8 different Shimano Stradic which was my goto reel and still is on some occasions but both of these are amazing reels and would rec both to anyone..

    • @brandongouge
      @brandongouge Před 2 lety +3

      I’m also a fan of the Stradic and am currently fishing the FL 3000 as my light set up. Looking at the Slammer in a 4500 as an in between set up for casting heavier spoons/top waters/etc. would you say the Slammer is worth the buy or would you get another Stradic?

      @@brandongouge Ive not got a 4500 Slammer 3 but I took the 5500 offshore last week to the gas platforms and it was excellent. No trouble at all with 15lb snapper and big yellowfin. Im very impressed with it. My cousin has the 4500 3 Slammer and he uses it everywhere. I think the drag is great and you can crank it all day.

      @@frostizz2072 Get them off eBay much cheaper 2nd hand. I tend to use my tackle till it falls apart. My 2 main freshwater reels are both 45 years old I bought new. I use a couple of the rods I used for carp fishing when I lived in England for beach fishing. Its not necessary to use expensive rods/reels. More important to get your end tackle and technique right. But if you have confidence in your rod/reel you do tend to fish better IMVHO.

    First off I want to say, GREAT review!! I've been looking around lately for a new reel for Musky, I have an 8 foot medium heavy fast action shimano rod. The Penn Slammer III is interesting but I want to know if you believe it's a good choice for musky (Or the Slammer IV). I'll be spooling it with 90lbs braided line. I know most musky fisherman use bait cast reels, but I like spinning reels and I need one that will retrieve my lures without to much difficulty.

    The way i fish, i almost always see salt buildup at the bottom of my reels in the line spool. That said, unless those new screw holes on the spool itself are 316 stainless or boron, i see it being an issue

    Great reel, but the last part, made in china, will prevent me from buying it. I am selling everything I own made in china or assembled in Mexico. That includes all my golf equipment too.All my fishing tackle, rods reels and lures will be American or like abu garcias made in Sweden, rapalas made in Finland, .I will buy high dollar Daiwas and shimanos as long as they're made in japan. All my rods are now loomis, lamiglas, st croix kencor, all star, Sabre and others usa made only. My reels are now avet, accurate, Penn (only the american made, like internationals)or Abu garcia or seigler. Not buying from our enemies, china or mexico.
