@Nareek Hackett Sure. It doesn't have a true external safety like a switch on some guns has. The "safety" is literally a little switch thing on the trigger. It does make me nervous to have one in the chamber with only that feature. The guy does show that feature in his video though.
@@ENDOPLAGUE You will love it!!!! It is so smooth. I use gun grease, not oil, but grease on the slide and rails and it runs so well. It is very accurate too. The biggest issue is finding 9mm ammo, but it can be done.
@Nareek Hackett It definitely makes me a little uneasy so for the time being I don't carry a round in the chamber. It does take a decent amount of force and trigger pull to make it go off though. You could always go to a gun store and handle one so you can get the feel for it though. With a proper holster you are good.
I bought mine about 5 months ago and it’s been my everyday carry ever since. It fits my hand better than any other pistol, it’s 100% reliable (I’ve put probably a thousand rounds through it and not 1 jam), and it’s pretty affordable. If your budget is around $500-$900 it’s the best thing you can buy IMO.

Glad it was helpful! Can't go wrong with G19 for a home defense, although, if it is dedicated home defense weapon, I'd probably go with a G17, two extra rounds and a bit less recoil. That's what I use as a sidearm and as a home defense weapon.

Love my 19. Another bonus is I can use my 17 mags in it. And if you change the back strap, make sure you use the longer pin that’s included on the back strap cluster of plastic

One of the greatest things about being retired military is that I was able to score a blue label Glock 19 Gen 5 for less than half retail price! I love it! I prefer no forward serrations, but I dig the lack of grip finger grooves on the 19. Now on my 17 they’re great because there’s more room between the top groove and trigger guard. I call the 17 the big easy. My 19 and 26 are much more comfortable on my body. I love being in a free state!!

You are very welcome, thanks for watching! A lot of new buyers are turned off from Glock because of the absence of manual safety. but in my opinion, this is one of the best first buys that you can make. Good for home defense, car carry, conceal carry (a bit bulky, but still doable), doesn't break the bank and one of the most (if not the most) reliable options out there.

Anyone else bothered by the early version Glock 19 Gen5 being very different from the recent version Gen5? Later versions have front serrations, lower front grip scoop delete, and beveled dust cover nose to better match the beveled front slide. For this reason I bought a Glock 45 (9mm) which had these features at the time. The early Gen5 version looks half-hearted and/or rushed to market.
I had ordered a G19 Gen3 just because it doesn't have front serrations. I didn't even want to know about the rest of the changes that were implemented from Gen3 to Gen5 (Gen4 is not available here in my country). But here the firearms purchase process takes a long time (6-8+ months approx). So I had to order and wait. Today I was informed that I would need to choose between another gun or change to a Gen5 because the Gen3 was discontinued and there was no way to order it anymore. I was extremely sad just because of these front serrations. I ended up accepting it and now I'm going to get the Gen5. I researched the other differences and ended up getting a little more conformed by the other things that were improved over Gen3. If the first Gen5 models were available here, it would be perfect for me... without the front serrations. It sounds silly but the price of a Glock here in my country is insanely expensive. almost like a premium thing! That's why all my drama for small details.

Had to return one magazines on my new Glock 19 Gen. It wouldn't fall out when the magazine release was pressed and wouldn't fall out of the firearm. Other two worked as they should, waiting for the replacement to come in on 7/1.

@@aviationdylan3353 I use a waistband holster and sometimes also carry a extra magazine around and that's my edc 🤷🏾♂️ no manual so if you're a a beginner I would get something else but other than that a great gun 💯

After 700+rounds my Glock knuckle went away and the trigger smooth itself out. I Like that I can completely take it apart and put it back together. No gunsmith needed.
Got my 1st Glock yesterday Just like the one you have. Going to the range today to fire it up. Nice review. BTW, bought the gun in the late morning and took it home early afternoon the SAME day. Love living in Florida.
I gotta wait 4 days here in Illinois. Or at least from the shop I go to. I don’t really mind though I’ve got other stuff for home defense in the meantime. Not in a big rush.
I just bought this yesterday I'm waiting for my back ground check to clear very affordable, light, perfect for concealment. It's my first Glock but I can't wait to take it out get some practice with it.
getting my indiana LCH after a trip to new england and shooting guns. made me want to be a gun owner and i really love how the glocks look. they look so uniform and they are (far as i know) reliable and sturdy. i want to have a glock as my first handgun. the 19 just looks so versatile in concealed carry, open carry, and in when crap hits the fan situations. if i do get more into the firearm community, great. if i dont, then at least i have a reliable tool to help keep me and my family safe. thank you for posting the gen 5 review! :)

Well we're still waiting on the Supreme Court's decision. I live in the Communist state of New Jerky and we're all waiting to hear. Fortunately I have one of the rare CCW permit's in the state because of a job I retired from. I've been carrying revolver's for 44 and a half years, except when I go to a higher crime area. Fortunately I'm a big guy and in a wheelchair these day's, so their isn't much I can't conceal except my S&W 460 with a 14 inch barrel. Even though I have my permit I would love to see everyone get it. Hi crime area's I like to carry one of my R1 1911 with a capacity of 15+1 of 45acp. They have a couple of model's and also 40 S&W, mine is the tactical model. Well the best of luck to you.

Apologies for a late response. The manual safety on handguns is quite a debatable topic and there are a lot of factors to consider, how you carry, what kind of holster you are using, your experience level, etc. I think most will agree that whatever and however it is comfortable for you to carry is better than avoiding to carry at all, because by carrying and of course, consistently training with your weapon, you develop that confidence. There is a lot of handguns that come with a manual safety, Ruger, S&W, Springfield, to name a few.
Can’t wait to get mine, I’ve had a couple glock BB guns and I thought they were absolutely the best looking hand guns. Can’t wait to get me the real deal!
I got one not to long ago an MOS and I absolutely love with i change the sights and I added a quick mag reload on it already thinking about putting a trigicon trigger and a tunston guide rod

Question for you, ive heard good things about the gen 5s new DPM guide rod system. Ive heard that it reduces recoil by a lot BUT when ive heard people talk about them, it feels like they are inky talking about the “kicj” instead of the “muzzle flip”, some people use those terms interchangeably. So being exact, docyou feel that the DPM system actually reduces muzzle flip?
There is definitely a noticeable difference in the muzzle flip between gen 4 and gen 5 thanks to the upgraded guide rod, but I wouldn't say "by a lot." A bit tighter slide, a bit less muzzle flip... but, if your grip is better with the gen 4 frame, you'll be more effective with gen 4.

Can't go wrong with a Glock19. Perfect size, capacity, & 30 + years of a great tract record of reliability.

@@aviationdylan3353 I use a waistband holster and sometimes also carry a extra magazine around and that's my edc 🤷🏾♂️ no manual so if you're a a beginner I would get something else but other than that a great gun 💯

Bought one today and I’m stoked! It’s so sweet.
After 700+rounds my Glock knuckle went away and the trigger smooth itself out. I Like that I can completely take it apart and put it back together. No gunsmith needed.

getting my indiana LCH after a trip to new england and shooting guns. made me want to be a gun owner and i really love how the glocks look. they look so uniform and they are (far as i know) reliable and sturdy. i want to have a glock as my first handgun. the 19 just looks so versatile in concealed carry, open carry, and in when crap hits the fan situations. if i do get more into the firearm community, great. if i dont, then at least i have a reliable tool to help keep me and my family safe. thank you for posting the gen 5 review! :)

Just ordered one to my FFL today, my first handgun, will be my EDC. Not my first firearm however though, also own an AR15.

Well we're still waiting on the Supreme Court's decision. I live in the Communist state of New Jerky and we're all waiting to hear. Fortunately I have one of the rare CCW permit's in the state because of a job I retired from. I've been carrying revolver's for 44 and a half years, except when I go to a higher crime area. Fortunately I'm a big guy and in a wheelchair these day's, so their isn't much I can't conceal except my S&W 460 with a 14 inch barrel. Even though I have my permit I would love to see everyone get it. Hi crime area's I like to carry one of my R1 1911 with a capacity of 15+1 of 45acp. They have a couple of model's and also 40 S&W, mine is the tactical model. Well the best of luck to you.

Apologies for a late response. The manual safety on handguns is quite a debatable topic and there are a lot of factors to consider, how you carry, what kind of holster you are using, your experience level, etc. I think most will agree that whatever and however it is comfortable for you to carry is better than avoiding to carry at all, because by carrying and of course, consistently training with your weapon, you develop that confidence. There is a lot of handguns that come with a manual safety, Ruger, S&W, Springfield, to name a few.

I got one not to long ago an MOS and I absolutely love with i change the sights and I added a quick mag reload on it already thinking about putting a trigicon trigger and a tunston guide rod
Check out Timney triggers, those are pretty awesome! I would also recommend RMR and Surefire X300 as additional accessories.

Hogue makes aftermarket grips for Gen 5s with finger grooves if that's a deal breaker for someone. You can have it all. Great review as usual.

Question for you, ive heard good things about the gen 5s new DPM guide rod system. Ive heard that it reduces recoil by a lot BUT when ive heard people talk about them, it feels like they are inky talking about the “kicj” instead of the “muzzle flip”, some people use those terms interchangeably. So being exact, docyou feel that the DPM system actually reduces muzzle flip?
There is definitely a noticeable difference in the muzzle flip between gen 4 and gen 5 thanks to the upgraded guide rod, but I wouldn't say "by a lot." A bit tighter slide, a bit less muzzle flip... but, if your grip is better with the gen 4 frame, you'll be more effective with gen 4.

Supposedly Glock had made 25 changes to the gen 5 from the gen 4, mostly internal. Would like to know if the guide rod is metal or still plastic? Thanks.
