Hey Evey! I liked ur videos so much about ophthalmology training. I am IMG and doing my MRCS now. But I have now decided to choose ophthalmology. I know about the Crest form and MSRA exam. I just want to know that if I work as an SHO in ophthalmology in the UK, will I be able to get my supervisor to sign my Crest form or I have to work in acute medicine to complete the crest form signing?

Thanks a ton for the video, Doctor Evey! I have a few questions though...
    1. You said you went to theatres. Was this during your break year? Is it possible to just go to OR like that if you aren't officially appointed to that unit?
    2. I watched your portfolio video as well. How did you go about writing a textbook chapter? I thought you had to be well into your career to get an opportunity like that.
    3. You also talked about getting experience with Eyesi. Was this during the microsurgery training course or are there separate opportunities for that?
Thank you again. Looking forward to more in-depth videos about each of the different components in the portfolio and exam prep :)

    • @eveyclay
      @eveyclay  Před rokem

Hi! I went to clinics/theatres while I was still an F2. Luckily there was a relatively big department in the hospital where I worked at the time and they were ok with me shadowing.
Managed to write a chapter as someone on my course wanted to write a textbook!
With the EyeSi- I believe you have to attend the microsurgical skills course first, then you can get log ins for the eyesimulator

    Hello Dr,
I've recently cleared plab1 & hopefully I'll be sitting for plab 2 in next may. Thank you for all the information and guidance. Your CZcams channel is really helpful.
I have a query. I'm interested in building a career as an ophthalmologist in UK.
    How difficult is that?
Do you know any img who is in ophthalmology training?
Is there anything I can do right now to help me achieve this goal?
I have 10 month training in ophthalmology. Will that help?
It would be very helpful if you could give me some answers or point me someone else who can answer this.
    Have a great day!

Hello! 10 months of training in ophthalmology sounds awesome! Congrats on clearing your plab 1 (:
I think the UK recruitment system is very fair, and I found that the best thing to do was to focus on the portfolio preparation page on the Severn website and work on those things (like getting experience in clinics etc).
