- In this video we go apartment hunting in Mexico City. Jenny has been offered employment in CDMX so we are looking for apartments in the Coyoacan and Benito Juarez areas. These apartment tours include luxury amenities but also some budget-friendly options... at least, as far as Mexico City prices go.

How do you not have more followers , this is probably the most detailed apartment hunting video of Mexico City I’ve seen . We just moved to condesa , it was a pain to go thru the application process. They wanted your first born and the deed to house you owned . Ridiculous. Keep up the great content .
Thanks for the compliment! yea, seriously, this was quite the process!
@@EatBailaTravel La Villita or Pilsen?
I don’t understand the question but I can tell you I lived in both neighborhoods growing up -Jenny
Could you post a house furnishing and where you got everything , love you guys you are so detailed
I'm a 25 yr old Chicano about to finish grad school and have been following you guys for the past year now, very inspiring and can't wait to follow in your guys' footsteps felicidades! :)
🙌🏽 thanks for your support! And I’m honored to be called inspiring 🙏🏽🫶🏻
chicano is not a race is nothing man,,,,,.
Fellow Chicana moving to CDMX in a few months here. Thanks so much for this video!!! I really needed to see something like this. You guys went to so many neighborhoods I never even heard of and it was so helpful to see what prices currently are. Congrats on snagging a great apartment. You give me hope that I'll be able to find something as well.
that's a good point, most of the neighborhoods we'd often hear about are Roma, Polanco, Condesa, etc. etc. the fancier neighborhoods where most of the expats/foreigners live. I'm glad this was helpful! and thank you 🙂😁
Thank you for taking us apartment hunting with you, low inventory and high demand are awful to negotiate but you got an apartment in a neighborhood that you wanted, congratulations! I hope that you love your new job, Jenny! It would be interesting to see how you went about furnishing your new place and how your day-to-day living will be now that you won't be traveling as much, that will give us an idea what it will be like when we move there.
Thanks so much, Cindy! It was a challenge but we did it, phew! We're looking forward to this new chapter of our lives 😁😁
22,000 pesos in del valle is cheap, I’m from Mexico city. by law the rent includes water fee so you have water in the building. So if they tell you that the rent is not included, they are lying.
Wow, I figured 22K for rent was average, but 'cheap' for the area? Dang, costs are crazy high. Good to know about the water! Thanks!
Congratulations on your place. We went to Mexico the 1st 2 weeks of August for our 25th Anniversary. We were in Mexico City the 1st week, Taxco for the weekend and then flew to Merida for 6 days. Wish we had seen you walking around! We were impressed with all the parks and green space in MXCD. And being from the US, we felt safer there in that we didn't worry about the shootings. Hoping everything goes well with your new careers!
Aw, happy anniversary!! 💝 Taxco is such a romantic town.. 💖would have been super cool to bump in to each other 🙂 thanks so much for your well wishes!
Loved this! I really like Mexico City and would definitely consider living there in the future. This is as detailed an apartment search video as I've seen. Am enjoying your content.
Glad you liked it!!
I'm so glad to run into your video. I've never been to Mexico but have always wanted to see what the neighborhoods look like. The walking around Mexico is also greatly appreciated. I'm watching Mexico from a positive view because all I've seen so much negativity from the States about Mexico. I hope to see more of Mexico through your camera lens. Thank you.
I’m so glad to hear that! That’s what we try to do on our channel 🤗 welcome
I’ve been looking into CDMX as my first landing spot when I move to Mexico later this year (have temp res already). Really helps to see the various neighborhoods! I’ve been thinking Coyoacan only bc I don’t know anything about other neighborhoods and hard to find English speaking videos (I have some Spanish ). Acacias looks like a nice neighborhood. As a single woman I’m hoping to find a two bed for less than $1000. Sounds like it will be tough but not impossible perhaps. Hope you’ll share more videos of local neighborhoods in CDMX! Glad you found a place!
Hola! Glad this was helpful. I agree, I think it might be tough but absolutely not impossible to find a 2 bedroom apartment if you’re flexible on the area. We plan on doing more neighborhood type videos for sure! Especially Coyoacan 🙂
@@EatBailaTravel thanks! Can’t wait for your future videos!
🤗
Oh my god. You guys are the cutest couple alive. I cannot wait to know how you navigate Mexico City. Congrats to Jenny for her new job!
Lol thanks! 😁🫶🏽
Great video and so informative. I've always wanted to live in CDMX and its great to see what the apartment hunting process is really like. I cant believe so many apartments come with hot tubs... the dream! Good luck furnishing your new place!
I was surprised to see the hot tubs in so many of the places we looked at.. and they weren't even mentioned in the listings lol and thanks so much!
This was such great insight into whats on offer right now - the build quality seems so different to what I'm used to seeing in Quintana Roo 👀And I totally agree with wanting to live in a shorter building, living so high up is definitely not for everyone 🫢 Wow, those luxury buildings are so gorgeous, I had no idea there was anything like that in CDMX 🧐Your place is beautiful and so spacious, its going to be so much fun to make it into your home - congratulations guys 🫶🥰
You two are welcome at our place anytime! We hope to see you in CDMX soon 🤗 unless we happen to pop over in your area randomly 😜
This is the best video you've produced so far. You both came across as so sincere and brave in your daunting quest. Thank you for taking us with you on the journey. I wish you both the best of luck and am already excited to see your apartment furnished.
Aw, thank you! Could you tell how stressed and exhausted we were? Our puffy faces and under eye bags from poor sleep 😅 plus the acne stickers on my chin from the breakouts lol sigh.. it was a rough month, but we made it and have a home! Thanks for your comment 😁
I really appreciate how you show the neighborhood on the map when you mention it. Great video. Gracias.
Glad to help! saludos
Great video! Love your transparency as you look for apartments and navigate this process.
Thanks so much! It was quite the challenge.. but we did it. Happy it's done.
Congrats and best wishes for much success and happiness in your new location!
Thank you for taking us along on your hunt. It was very interesting!
PS = also excited to hear you have PE plans down the road. All the best!
Thanks so much! It was quite stressful so we’re glad it’s over 😅 and yes, future plans for PE are still in the works 🤗
Thank you for sharing detailed location snips, prices and details! I love Mexico City!
Glad to help! Saludos
Great video. Nice that you gave exchange rate info. First I ever noticed when people are showing rentals. Love your channel. Gracias. I just subscribed. Also , thanks for walking through the neighborhoods. Very important for people to know when considering rentals
Welcome to the channel! 🤗 glad you enjoyed the video
How cool! I lived in la Colonia del Valle back in the 1980s. I know exactly where that Metro stop is. Good times…Great memories.
Wow, I wonder how different it might be today compared to then!
I know, one of these days I want to return. I’m sure DF looks nothing like I remember it.
$1,300 USD without the amenities is way too much. Just subscribed to your channel. You guys are doing an amazing job. This content made a huge difference when we're be looking for a place in Mexico City next year. Hope you guys get more subscribers soon. Well wishes from Canada 🍁 🇨🇦 Vancouver, BC
Thanks for putting this video together. It was extremely informative and helpful.
Glad it was helpful!
This was awesome posting!! Informative, authentic & full of so much good information! Thank you! 🤙🏽🤙🏽🫶🏽
Thank you so much, glad you enjoyed it!
I live in Queretaro, and have stayed in my apartment for over 2 years. !00% furnished, maid, security, and I added a recliner, freezer and another small refrigerator. etc. I lived in a high rise in Chicago. Check neighborhood at night and weekends. I have one of the small oven, that I put away, for I want an electric stove. The cooktop is wonderful.
I love you guys. 1985 Earthquake was too scary for me, and my Acapulco has them all the time. I am retired. I pray you find what you want. I pay 15k per month, but it includes all utilities. The vendors may come out at night.
I use online shopping for home delivery. I was born in Chicago in 1942, and have been coming to Mexico since age 20.
I have live in Southside CHicago, the loop, Oak Park, and Waukegan.
Wow that sounds like a good deal in Queretaro 🙂 are you originally from Acapulco?
Congrats the apartment look great, can't wait to see it furnished.
Thank you! 😁
Great video it was very informative!! You two saw a lot of apartments in different neighborhoods & I’m glad you found one that you loved & a safe neighborhood. Congratulations on your new adventure 🎊 🎉
Thank you so much!! We're so glad to be done with searching
I'm so excited for the two of you! Congratulations on your new apartment. I would love to hear more details about how you were able to avoid the aval?
Thank you! Yea for sure, we used the obligado solidario in place of the aval. Kevin was listed as the renter, and I was listed as the obligado solidario. I showed savings account statements, we gave references, and we paid 2 months rent up front (I forgot to mention this!) in addition to the one month security deposit.
Wow.....What a great video. Walking through the neighborhoods, giving your impressions, showing the apartments.....you packed it all in and it was really good. Thank you.
Good to hear, we wondered what the crowds would say from so much packed into one video.
Congratulations on landing near Coyoacan! We spent two weeks in Santa Catarina recently, and honestly, I could have just stayed on.
Thank you! We are just across the street from Coyoacan but still in Benito Juarez. We're happy with our location 🤗
Yay 🎉 congrats on your new place. I can’t wait to hear and see how everything goes.
thanks @Maxfield1978! 🤗
Congrats to you both on your new apartment & hope you have lots of happy times there😁❤
Thank you, Kesia! 🙏🏽
Congratulations for you new apartment loved ❤ me encantó gracias por compartir me encantan sus videos 👍 felicidades😜 éxitos ❤

Another great video from one of my favorite CZcams couples! I pray for continued blessings for you both... good luck with the new job Jenny!
Thank you so much!!
Muy buen video chicos. Creo que vivir en la CDMX le puede dar un impulso a vuestro canal, yo estuve 3 años viviendo allí y es el lugar que más me interesa ver de México. Mucha suerte!
muchas gracias, David 🙏☺
Great video, this was really helpful as we start our apartment search in CDMX!
Glad it was helpful!
Another perfectly informative vlog - thank you for all you do to help people! And congratulations on all of your successes so far and more on your continued journey!
Really enjoyed your apartment hunting video🤗
Thanks! The process felt stressful at the time, but we're comfy now in our apartment!
That was a very nice video, and you guys make a for a very nice couple!
The kind of place I would like would probably be a furnished studio.
High rises can be VERY nice 😊
Thanks for sharing!
Thank you, Casey! We are enjoying our apartment now, it's just about fully furnished 😊
This was a great video. Thank you. I have been working my way towards moving to Mexico. I'll be moving there next month so I'm very excited...😁 Cdmx has always been my goal but I'll be landing in Veracruz first as my dad lives there. It will also give me a chance to get to know other Mexican cities and see where I like it best. So far cdmx is at the top of my list but we'll see what happens!
We love Veracruz! It’s one of our favorite/ if not our favorite states in all Mexico. Shameless plug but check out our videos we have a ton on Veracruz : czcams.com/video/zsvp9d-lhj4/video.htmlsi=fA38yK3MbpMwil3S

Your new place looks great and most important that it is in your desire neighborhood. Good job! I am interested in seeing how you guys furnish the apartment. Have fun!

Excellent video! It’s nice see such an authentic and informative vid. Muchas gracias. 😊
Glad you enjoyed it!
I love how detailed this video is, should be a problem for anyone to find an apartment now haha :D
thanks! 😁
I love Coyoacan it’s gorgeous , try Santa Maria la Ribera that’s a decent neighborhood and not as expensive and close to downtown area
we haven't explored that area yet but have heard good things. It might be a bit far up for us as we'd prefer to be somewhat closer to University City for commutes to work, but will definitely be visting Santa Maria La Ribera for fun
@@EatBailaTravel I visit my brother twice a year maybe I’ll bump into you guys and have my cubs jersey on when I see Kevin 😂
This is going to be me soon looking for a spot in or near mexico city lol. Thanks for this video !
Cool! I hope it was helpful!
I’m from Chicago and I’m looking to move to Mexico City. Great video.
hey fellow Chi! glad you liked the video :)
Buenos días,
Another great / informative video.
Bonito día… 🇲🇽
That was a great choice, excellent location and price. Good locations in Mexico city are difficult to choice below 20 k pesos per month.
Mexico City is quite expensive in comparison to the rest of the country so far we really like it.
@@EatBailaTravel totally true but far from US prices in huge cities.
I feel exhausted just by looking at how many places you went 😅
😅 and there are more that didn’t make it into the video.. would have been too long lol
It has been four months since this video was uploaded so I am out of sync with your current living quarters situation but I have you've found a suitable place to live in CDMX. Wish you guys a very successful 2024. Saludos from Cali.
Thanks, Antonio! We appreciate you catching up on our videos 🙏🏽🤗
Beautiful! Congratulations! You deserve it for all that “leg work”
We got lucky! We love our location but CDMX life is still an adjustment in process.
Great content! I am not moving to Mexico City yet i watched it 3 times. lol
Hehe, glad you enjoyed it! 😁🤗
I pay $1400 for a studio in Dallas. A 2 bedroom for that price is a dream! 😭
Wow, in Dallas? Being from illinois I would have guessed less for Dallas rent
Wow! I’m so glad y’all found something y’all both loved! (Safety and style) That was a nail bitter lol
😆 hehe oh it definitely was! Except for you it was a 20 minute nail biter while for us it was a whole month 😅😅 haha
Excelente video 😮😮! Felicidades por su nuevo hogar y ojalá les vaya súper bien en México 😊!👍👍👏👏🇲🇽🇲🇽🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Muchas gracias, Norma 🙏🏽☺️
Street food you’ll find where offices are near by. Neighborhood which don’t have office building usually don’t have street food vendors
Generally speaking that makes sense
Yes, please to a furniture shopping video.. .. and congratulations on your new place! 🎉
The brand new high rise is the type of apartment you get in Lima Peru - got balcony space with the two full bathrooms but like you say, a bit small at around 68 sqm and must be if you're coming from the states but a lot of these types of apartment blocks are going up all over Lima and you can buy one in a nice part of town for 120000 USD, Interesting though, I think a good location is one near a metro stop, in London, house prices go up the nearer it is to an underground station.
not surprising I guess for these to be common in the big metropolitan cities. Properties near coveted public transportation are usually more expensive because.. convenience! Do you live in London, Billy?
@@EatBailaTravel I did, even in the more impoverished areas it was pretty expensive to rent but when a flat was near an underground station wherever it was - that it was within close walking distance of an underground station would be part of the list of amenities. If you were near one, you could get around London pretty easily and cheaply so it was always a bonus. By the way, I liked your final choice, big kitchen and a massive shower (which I really like) but I don't think I saw the front of the living room, do you have a balcony or a nice view?
I'm blowing up the comments lmao, but interested to see a furnishing vlog! This is all very much relatable for me moving to cdMX
Awesome! thank you for comments it helps us out a lot. We still haven't completely furnished our apartment but still in the process.
Love watching your process!
Thank you so much!
Congratulations on your new home guys! The apartment you chose is beautiful! It was great going along with you guys on your apartment hunt and getting to learn about the different neighborhoods of MX City. Will you guys potentially be Airbnbing your second bedroom? Good luck on your new job btw Jenny!
Thanks for joining us for the adventure! 😆 and maybe but probably not.. we’re a long way from having enough furniture to be an Airbnb (plus it’s not allowed as a tenant even though I’ve known others who’ve done it), but eventually we hope to buy a place 😁
And thank you! 😁
Really enjoyed this video! thank you for showing a detailed tour!
Glad you enjoyed it! 😊
Awesome insight! ❤ Congrats on your new place🎉
Thank you 😊
Take us to la merced market to check out all the cheap carinosas! 😂
LOL Amenities is pronounced “uh-MEN-uh-teez”. I love that not only are you both bicultural but that you seem so VERY bicultural-Your videos are so well edited and you’re bringing all of us closer together. 🇲🇽 🇺🇸
Kevin struggles with words... I try to "save him" sometimes and then it just comes across as me interrupting him (in other videos, not so much this one) lol. But thanks so much for your compliment! that's the goal ☺❤🇺🇸🇲🇽
Andrew - and yet here you are correcting their pronunciation 🙄. What does “VERY bicultural” mean? Your whole comment sounds like a backhanded “compliment”.
I apologize if anyone mistook my comment as insincere. I just meant they’re so amazing from every perspective that I would think they’d have millions of followers north and south of the border, that’s all! If someone speaks a language at C2 level, pointing out one single word that’s getting pronounced wrong isn’t meant to make fun of that person. Maybe it’s out of place to say something. I just struggled with that word too, myself and seized the opportunity. I love these two!!
@@andrewbell1716 There you go again. Better to quit while you’re ahead.
C2 level of English?? He is a native speaker of English, born and raised in Chicago USA 🙄.
Your condescension and veiled racism knows no bounds.
I knew I liked you guys....actually paying attention to the budget!
There are goals to reach! 😬😁
@@EatBailaTravel Not everyone thinks like that! They see nice. They see new. They see restaurants and shops they can walk to, forgetting that if they rent that place that they won't have the money to go enjoy them.
@@jennyhammond9261 that’s so true! We are very money conscious, track all of our expenses, save, invest, and build for the future while having fun in the present. It does take strategy and discipline. Thanks for that reminder and making me feel proud of us! 🫶🏻
love this video. I am saving up to buy a starter place in guadalajra.
Where in guadalajara?
🎉congratulations on your new place. Great video
Thank you, Global Granny 🤗
:57 "We love the natural light." So "House Hunters International"! 😆 🤣 😂 😹 I'm just kidding! But that's what people always say on those shows, right?
lol it's true though! haha
Yes please. We'll be furnishing our house in Jalisco soon, would love to see what you're able to find in CDMX. Enjoy the new home it looks very nice.
Thank you! Great, already working on it
Wow, im so excited for you guys!!
Thanks so much! 🤗
What are some more quieter areas that I can still get to big parks and good stuff going on?
Late twenties guy, working in music/film so like to be around creative crowds
Anything near Coyoacan is artsy, quite and lots of big parks. Most of the tourists don't live around here tho.
I am in DF rn you have to realize that Mexico DF is the New York of Mexico but more populated and lots of foreigners are moving to DF so prices will go up I live in California and pay 2k on mortgage for 4 bed 21/2 bathroom 3,300 sq feet ..plus you guys want to live in a nice neighborhood and shopping in nice neighborhoods so there’s a price..the 900 a month is good option well good luck
yep, you're so right! all of those factors come into play.. we're pretty satisfied with our place 😁 thank you!
We start our search for a CDMX apartment soon. How many square meters did you end up with? More interested in Del Valle, Narvarte areas and 3 beds. Hopeful!
gosh, I'm actually not sure. Around 90m2 I believe? There were lots of 3 bedroom options in Del Valle and Narvarte. Narvarte seemed to have better prices, too.
So glad i stumbled across your site. I love it, Go Cubs!!
Welcome! Glad you found us 😁 btw you spelled “Go Sox” wrong 🙃😜
Thank you for this super informative video! Can you share how long the process took end to end? We just submitted paperwork for two places earlier this week and have heard nothing back, so I'm wondering what the timeline was like for the apartment you eventually secured. Thanks so much 🙌
It was relatively quick considering how competitive the apartments are. No more than a week for us I think? I’m responding to you 12 days late so you might have already heard back by now 😅 at least I hope you have!
Nice rooftop. Spacious unit.
Saludos de Los Angeles, California 🇲🇽
Saludos, sunny LA ☀️🤗
Wow indoor boiler.. I thought all boilers were outside in Mexico.. I suggest a Carbon monoxide detector
Yeah demand in CDMX for apartments is crazy, you're competing with 28 million other people in the city + a lot of international people now & the rest of Mexico. A friend was late 1 hour for her apartment tour and the agent told her someone already rented it.
WOW! that is crazy!
Congratulations on your new place!!
Thank you so much, Martha 😀
Great vid guys. That apartment is a home run. I wouldn’t mind any of those areas.
Thanks, Jimmy!
But wow, rent prices have risen in cdmx since I was last there! Crazy. Its an amazing city though!
Yea it’s pretty mind boggling.. especially if you’re looking in the “nicer” less polluted/more green/safer neighborhoods, prices are so high! Even thought objectively our rent of $19,500 pesos feels super high for us, we feel like we got a decent deal compared to everything else out there 😬
Hey, this is QRO-Quedo
( AKA Lane;)
OMG: i LOVE it ! What a great choice !
Ok, for furnishing, look or consider furniture rental company ( like CORT) that sell their furniture via CORT stores , after they’ve rented it out to someone for a couple years.. I'm sure there is something similar in Mexico City!
Either way, GREAT CHOICE !!
Felicidades
Check ur ‘buy me a coffee, ima hook you up with some wine to celebrate.
Proud of you both
Hugs
Lane
Hey Lane! Aw, thanks so much! To be honest, we may put those funds towards buying plates and kitchen essentials as opposed to wine for now 😅 and great idea on the furniture rental. Will look into that. Blessings!❤️
The reason why renting is so popular is because the market is lopsided. I just bought a home for 5mdp and there is no way I can rent my home furnished for the mortgage payment of 48,000 pesos and break even
You bought a home?! Congrats!! Where?

Glad it was helpful! Saludos
Great job! I like the Mexico City content.
Glad to hear it! More to come 🙂
Fun video guys! Always great to watch apartment hunting videos. Congratulations on the big change 🏡 :).
PS: I loved the older kitchen actually, it is much nicer than my tiny old dark kitchen in Vancouver. And those amenities in skyrisers, omg ))) It is so hard to find venues for teaching dance classes in Vancouver, I wish I could do a small studio at my future home or at least give privates in the apartment building (even if I'd had to pay a bit extra).
Congratulations!
Love your final choice!
Thanks for the insights and information, very helpful!
I wonder what the equivalent would be today of what Roma Norte USED to be 12-15 years ago? Bohemia meets 21st century and with older buildings?
Does such a neighborhood exit nowadays in CDMX?
good question! I wish I knew the answer to that 😬
New watcher; have you made a follow up video on furnishing it as well as the costs for items including movers. what's the link?
Hi Joseph, not yet but soon! It’s taken us a long time to furnish and I think we finally have enough to make a video 🙂 stay tuned!
@@EatBailaTravel so cool
Love the video!! My wife and I are thinking about moving to Mexico and we wanted to know the name of the apt with the upstairs downstairs gym. Thanks again
Which of the high rises there's two, one is Florida and the other in Tlalpan. We will get you details for both shortly.
@@EatBailaTravel thanks so much. I was referring to the 2nd high rise the realtor showed you guys. It’s the one that you guys almost didn’t look at. I think the apt was on the 27th floor, BUT we’ll definitely take the information for both of them 😎😎
Just from the look alone, I liked Apt 2, the 3/2 (funky bathroom). I'd be concerned about th noise, though. But I liked the way it looked. I share Kevin's concern about the age of the building. On to the next...
so far, every apartment/AirBnB we've stayed at, you can hear the traffic really well. It's a legit concern for light sleepers (Kevin is, I'm not, I'm a heavy sleeper lol)
Go wishes in your new home...Still loving your spirit and the way way you do your "homework". Attention to details is so beneficial...ASIDE:Friends in Colombia loved your shout out from the CDMX concert headlining the Cali salsa group. I had sent them a link to Kevin narrated clip... @EatBailaTravel Moving is high stress no matter what. I am in the process..Moving and getting acclimated to a whole new city ( mega city) and job is off the charts demanding...Sending positive energy your way...Sharing calming energy from long meditation I just finished...

That’s a good price. The bills including water, electricity and gas would probably be 230dollars. For-sure
I guess we'll see in a couple of months!
Even if they are using all time water, electricity and gas they must not to be spending more than 80 USD
I pay $1500 for a small 2 bedroom, 1 bath in Houston, older apartment, bad neighborhood.
Yea we know by experience we used to pay the same in Chicago
These two are pretty good watch some more of their stuff
