My brother is adopted from Ghana 🇬🇭 and they would run two pieces of maize together to separate the kernels. We tried it here in the state and it works really well!
Does purple popping corn pop purple when popped properly in a portable popcorn popper? Possibly To add to your speculation on if it's purple or not, keep in mind the whitest looking whites are usually slightly tinged with blue or purple so it is quite possible
Hello from Atlanta Georgia! Just started my own vegetable garden for the first time, these videos are all great and quite informative. You're doing a wonderful job, keep up the good work and stay safe and healthy
A couple of decades ago, when my son was little, I grew a "Junk Food Garden"---Just popcorn and peanuts !!! I used to put a cob in a paper lunch bag and pop it right off the cob in the microwave !! Years later, in the Ozarks, there was a shop selling popcorn cobs in a bag for $5 bucks each!! I could have been a Thousandairre !!!!
I bought that $5 cob in a bag. Best tasting popcorn I've ever had. I have no regrets. And I like the idea of a "junk food" garden. P.S. To this day, I make my popcorn in the microwave by pouring kernels in a paper bag.
I’ve been looking everywhere for the answer to this most important question. The fate of humanity relies on it. Thank you kind sir, for you are a true hero 🙂
That's probably going to be my next corn to plant on my balcony. :) For an extra taste, add salt and Italian spice mix (basil, marjoram, oregano, rosemary, thyme). Then after the corn pops, add some olive oil and mix it gently.
My husband and I life in te Netherlands. We are building our garden to be self-sufficient. You're videos are great to help us on our way. Thank you for making them.
My husband wasn’t used to home grown and when I planted, dried and gathered the kernels he refused to eat them. So I finally popped a big bowl up for me and he took it over!
i love that you made this a video. one night while i was very little i thought the same thing, asked my gramma if we could make popcorn ourselves. She answered yes and then proceeded to pull out corn husks that were super old and red and purple. i instantly thought that it would be a different color. either way it looked the same i was disappointed but it tasted better than normal popcorn to me :)

Does smokepurpp like purple people eaters that pop purple poppy people eaters that enjoy eating purple popping corn that pops purple poppy poppers while drinking purple flurp? Quite perplexing.
Now you are talking, you convinced me to grow some. While popping, I lift the pot up and shake some so most of the kernels pop. Oh, the memories of popping corn with my daughter and her cousins....great times.
I couldn't help but smile when you said "fair dinkum" I remembered that expression from a game of Balderdash many years ago. Some of the answers people gave for its possible meanings were hilarious. Cheers and stay safe! 🇨🇦
Thanks for this very helpful video. I bought some popping corn seeds (rainbow cobs) just before Christmas and the plants are now a few inches high in seed trays (have to because of the mice, voles, pheasants, pigeons). Glad to see that the border I dug is - ahem - rather too big than too small. That'll give me lots of room for the onions then! Only today, started thinking about how they corn is turned into popcorn. So thanks for the timely advice on drying and cooking. One note - I'm also growing regular sweetcorn and read on the seed packets that different types of corn must be grown well away from each other to avoid cross-pollination. So I have one in the back garden and the popping corn in the front garden where the wind can't blow the pollen from one to the other.
G'day from South Africa! Awesome to see your subs going through the roof since lockdown. You deserve it. Thanks for such a great channel. Please can you make more videos of your chooks? Love the chicken videos.
Scrub turkey is a protected species, isn't it? If you do actually get to cook one, use the same technique as for a galah. Gut and prepare your bird. Get two rocks about the size of your fist and put them into your cooking pot along with your bird, any herbs and spices you might want, and stock to cover. Boil the pot until the rocks go soft. Toss out the bird and eat the rocks.
I would love to grow corn some day! The purple corn looks gorgeous! I wanted to grow sweet corn to eat fresh but now I’m tempted to grow popping corn because of this video. My eye is really set on glass gem corn though. I know it’s best as corn meal but it’s so beautiful! So many choices 😍
That's so beautiful...since I'm native American and my family grows corn it's super rare to grow perfectly filled corn and we keep them for certain things suck as baby namings, etc. Ahhhh and it's being popped 😭
More than the info you have given i love your facetious dad jokes and all puns intended mannerisms. I love your style of humor. Hello from Texas on this fine early morning!
Mark, thanks for the humor. I make my popcorn by throwing a half handful in a paper bag (no oil), folding the top over a few times, and microwaving it for 3-4 minutes. I put as much melted butter as I want over it in a bowl but it does save washing out another pot. I'm not lazy - I'm efficient. LOL

You can also put the cob into a paper bag and pop it in the microwave. As for popping on the stovetop you can use ghee and add salt in the butter before adding the kernels to pop.
I planted popcorn next to a multicoloured corn, not realising that corn cross pollinates. The result was that I had multicoloured pop corn. They were larger than yours but they popped really well. The purple seeds popped extremely white - like yours did, but, many of them had really pretty purple veining through them. It was only fine, but yes, it did add a purple tinge to the popcorn
