- Hi everyone!
Hope you are well. Today I'm sharing a new video about my favourite watercolours, and this episode is dedicated to... Schmincke! They were the second professional brand I tried (the first one being Sennelier - link to the video below) and boy was I hooked! Their catalogue comprises of a vast range of pigments, their paints are vibrant, easy to work with and rewet beautifully.
I purposely chose not to feature any of the supergranulating colour mixes in my selection, as I decided earlier on to get the single pigments instead, but if you're interested in these there are many videos here on CZcams showing the different sets.
I hope you enjoy this episode as much as my first one. Let me know which are your favourites in the comments below.

Hi everyone!

We are glad that you enjoy our watercolors! 🥰
Oh definitely, I love them!😍
Ive been hemming and hawing over a few of these colors for months, and thanks to you I finally broke down and got them 🙈 I appreciate you enabling my paint addiction lmao
I am glad it helped you decide even though I’m enabling your addiction… 😅I suffer from the same problem myself. But if you enjoy vibrancy you definitely won’t be disappointed!
My first watercolor set is also a Sennelier. Hhhmmm, I like it, but fell in love with Michael Harding and Schmincke. Love it a lot ❤.
I feel bad for the dog though 😣.
They are all great artist brands. Don’t worry about the dog, she’s ok! All grown up now and living her best life, just saw her the other day 🐶
I really like the way you have swatched the paints. The page looks very nice 😊.
Thank you! I’m glad you enjoyed it ☺️
I've never heard of rutile yellow before! Really interesting 😃And I have a bunch of potter's pinks from different makers too, I'm addicted to the pigment 😂 and also that mahogany brown is gorgeous 😱
Yes it’s not mentioned much, it is called nickel titanate in other brands, but it seems like Schmincke’s version is the warmest. And your potter’s pink collection is totally understandable, there’s a lot of variation for this pigment! I assume you like texture if you collect PR233, so you’ll definitely like that brown.
All those blue greens are so pretty!
They are, aren’t they? I’m such a fan of everything between turquoise and teal, must get them all 🩱
Your videos are very helpful. Thank you.
I’m glad you like it, thanks for watching ☺️
For the longest time I thought viridian was phthalo green it was so confusing 😅😅 I only tried one color from schmincke so far and I love it, we will see if I'm able to get one of their palettes in the future ☺️
I can understand why, since some brands use it as “Viridian hue”. Apart from the granulation, Viridian also has a low tinting strength while phthalo green is quite the opposite.
The Sapphire phthalo blue is my favorite mixing blue of all the brands. I would love to try their cobalt green deep, potter's pink and maroon brown.
It’s a very pretty blue indeed. I don’t think I have maroon brown… I may need to get it also 🤔🤭
Walnut brown was my favorite brown from any brand I’ve ever tried and I’m so sad they don’t make it anymore I only have a half pan that I’m scared to use
I read it was gorgeous! I understand your pain… on the other hand, you can’t enjoy what you don’t use 😉
Hi! I think W&N also has PY53.
Yes, I saw other brands offer this pigment, but their versions seem to be cooler than Rutile Yellow. You can see them all side by side on Jane Blundell website: www.janeblundellart.com/yellow-watercolour-swatches.html
@@coloredcarol8074 Thanks! Actually PY53 comes in two versions: one is more lemony and the other more warm/earthy. Schmincke has them both: Titanium Yellow is the more lemony and Rutile Yellow is the warmer one.
@@awatercolourist I noticed that looking at Jane’s website… interesting how a pigment can vary isn’t it?
@@coloredcarol8074 oh, yes, very interesting, indeed! It’s one of the reasons I love pigments.
Your camera is incorrectly adjusted... the colors presented are not faithful to reality! In the video, your swatches are dull 😳 Also, a close-up would have been more judicious 🧐 Too bad because the idea of the subject of the video is good 😉
Thank you for the suggestion, I’ll keep that in mind for future videos 😉
