Honestly, the thing that screwed Mario over the most wasn't having a sandbagging teammate, but constantly rolling even numbers when he needed an odd one. Those allies actually ended up being a huge hindrance.
Yeah that's the huge flaw with this game. I quite like this game mode, but the 50/50 to get a star is the worst game design ever. The golden pipe is also significantly less useful here. Perhaps if they do this again, there should be a method where they can make it more fair.
If you could get four actual players in this game, I wonder what would happen if on each team there was one person trying to win and their teammate trying to lose on purpose. (Effectively making the losing player on one team and the winning player on the other team kind of a duo)
They would probably be pissed

You don't actually need to clap with your teammates after a minigame in Super Mario Party. if you wait long enough (maybe 4 or 5 attempts, I forget), the game will move on, and you won't get the coin bonus.
Or maybe actually 2 times.

Also as a byproduct. They get pissed at you. They give this look of "really?"

If you're an odd number of spaces away from the star, you'll get the star if you roll an odd number. Same thing goes for evens.

(33:00) For being "very hard", the AI is really stupid. Those blocks can only have one non-Z rotation: the bottom side down, the top side up. There's no reason for Mario to hold it sideways. Then all the AI has to concentrate on is getting the Z rotation correctly.
