- The Drepung Monastery has been founded in 1416. It is the largest Tibetan monastery, and one of the three great monasteries of the main Gelukpa sekt of the Tibetan buddhism. Sera Monastery was founded in 1419, it is another one of the three (Ganden is the third). Sera is renown for its monk debates.

Great video. The only scenes with Buddhist monks shows several small groups seemingly engaged in traditional Tibetan Buddhist debate, complete with the traditional hand and arm gestures.

panuelo87 These two, and the others in the Tibet playlist, are easy to access on a trip from Lhasa to Nepal. There are many others that are in remote areas and harder to reach, and I haven't had the chance to visit

Thank you, glad you enjoy my videos. I think the one for Tibet are very interesting, but they are not watched as much as many others. I usually arrange travel by myself, but in this case I traveled with G Adventures

All the Tibetan monasteries are amazing, and set in incredible places (I think I have 5 or 6 videos in my Tibet playlist)! I am not sure why the several monasteries I filmed during my trip are much less popular than other easily accesed popular places around the world
