    I have a 2016 roadkill police edition. We test the coil and it's low. But I have questions to see if this is really the issue. Can I run it past you please

    2009 Ultra, stopped running while idling, seems there is no spark , it
    turns over ok, no hint of firing, had had no previous hints of any starting
    trouble.

      who do you test the 4 pin configuration , what were your new coil readings?

    thanks for the videos,i did check the coil turns out it read 2.8 so I bought a new coil.
    I checked the cam pick up it was melted. I replaced it.
    still no spark good voltage at the battery,12.8volts.
    do you know how to check a ignition module?it the module behind the battery.
    also it is a screaming eagle part i look up the part and its indicating its for a 1200 sporty.
    this is a 95 883 so i think it is what the vin says any way.would there be a way to check if its been changed to a 1200 by just compression check?
    ive been searching for another module not many to be had.except on ebay.$200.before i spend that i sure would like to check it some how.any suggestions?

      Check the wires and plugs, I had low spark on plugs once and replaced everything to find out it was just bad plugs even though they were sparking, it wasn't enough

      @mikebarron5805 Před 3 lety

      Hopefully you've already found out that "you / we" can't check the module ourselves. According to 3 different mechanics in my area you have to take it to a dealership shop and pay a diagnostic fee... 😢

    I'm working on a 04 sportster and the ignition coil doesn't have the leads you tested, it's a solid inclosed box. Any idea how I test this? All it has is 2 holes for the spark plug and a wire harness plug in

    • @jhenninger
      @jhenninger  Před 4 lety

      The wire harness plug is the same as the old style leads, just a modern connection

      No it would be taking readings from the bike also and skew the results your resistance would change

      Hotrods & Hunting w/ Jonathan Henninger i am pretty slow when it comes to knowing my multimeter settings, but on .200 “not 200k” it reads 02.0 across both leads. on 20k nothing also 200k. In the plug ports on 200k i get 10.0 from one to the other. I hope this somewhat makes sense. Thanks

    • @jhenninger
      @jhenninger  Před 4 lety +1

      @@squawk3120 across the leads if your getting 10 ohms the resistance is too high and coil pack would be fried, if your getting 2 ohms that's a bit low for any coil, most coils are 3 or 5 ohm, depending on the bike there are a few that are oddball

    • @jhenninger
      @jhenninger  Před 4 lety +2

      If your only getting 2 ohms pull a spark plug, and attempt to fire the bike, while turning the bike over, look and see If you have weak spark, that may help diagnosing whether the coil is bad

    • @squawk3120
      @squawk3120 Před 4 lety

      Hotrods & Hunting w/ Jonathan Henninger It has been fouling plugs and running rich, also has an odd sounding idle no matter what timing or carb adjustments are made. When it runs down the road everything is great and starts with ease after warmed up but cold starts are next to impossible like it has to much compression to roll over. Rebuilt starter, new solenoid, new relay and battery all with good connections. Might just replace the coil and get new plugs as you stated in the beginning of the video. Thanks again for your help!

      Sorry but if you ohm out a coil it still doesnt mean its good.I have 8 of these coils from various companies that ohm out but produce a bad voltage at the other end. You need to read voltage out.
