    Hi Kristy. I haen't been painting very long but I've learned many things from you and am relieved I don't 'have to suffer' pains trying to accomplish. Love the florals you have in the book. I am a nut over doing florals. I am to reeceive my dagger brushes this weekend and am anxious to start using. Thanks for having this program. Your background music is very loud and washes you out. You don't need it 'cuz we all just want to hear what you say.

    Kristy, your less strict "rules" and looser technique have made me fall in LOVE with watercolor again! Thank you.

    Kristy, I just received my lovely book. I wanted something to take on a trip and this is perfect. I am impressed with the variety in just one book. I will be purchasing others. Thank you so much!

      soo inspirational and informative, think I'm using too little water because the paper pills quite a bit for me, will have to spend some time with my woodland this weekend! Also, the pages are coming loose from the binding, have you ever heard of that happening?

    • @kristyrice1718
      @kristyrice1718 Před 7 lety

      The pages can start to come loose from the binding if you carry the book around a lot or take it in and out of a bag a lot...Pretty normal :) Just practice a really soft touch with your brush and more, more, more water...don't scrub back and forth in one area for more than 33-5 strokes. These are good practices for any watercolor paper :)

    • @vivvz89
      @vivvz89 Před 7 lety

      hmmm, haven't carried it around at all =/ maybe just bad luck.. will try to use more water and watch your fantastic videos again!

    I have your Woodlands book and love it. I'm considering one of the cutting garden books. As I'm viewing this video it looks like the print is darker. Is this the case?

    • @KristyRice
      @KristyRice  Před 5 lety

      Thank you!!! Yes the print is about 10% darker :)

    The outline seems a lot darker compared to the original books. This looks really nice. :)

    • @KristyRice
      @KristyRice  Před 7 lety

      The outline is the same gray but many of the illustrations do feature a thicker line which can make it appear darker :) Thanks for watching!!

    Thank you for the video Kristy!! I just love how you put colors together. It amazes me how I look at a color and think how ugly it is by itself, but you used it successfully in the flower. You mentioned several times about the reviews on Amazon talking about pilling of the paper. I wonder if it might also be the type of brush that they are using? I have not had any pilling either, but I'm using watercolor brushes. Just a thought.

    • @KristyRice
      @KristyRice  Před 7 lety

      Ha yes it takes some time to see the real value in ALL the colors😉 Yes! The brush, they could be using something more textured...

    I love the Painterly Days series but these not so much. Because the lines are so heavy and the paper so small I feel like I'm painting in a child's book. Plus the paper feels less than student grade...sorry

    • @KristyRice
      @KristyRice  Před 6 lety +1

      Ohh goodness I'm sorry to hear that! The lines are a bit darker than in Painterly Days yes :) book however is 8.5x11 compared to the 9x12 size of Painterly Days size, so very litle difference overall. Lastly, the paper in Kristy's Cutting Garden is exactly the same as Painterly Days. Feel free to reach out via emal with any specific struggles I may be able to help with! hello (at) kristyrice.com

    Talk about pilling .. I think the wrong brush could easily cause this. For people just starting, perhaps grabbing a brush on sale.. those are often for canvases.

    • @KristyRice
      @KristyRice  Před 6 lety

      Yes, brushes that come with beginner watercolor sets for example or those found in sets for one low price are often too textured for watercolor paper :)

      I am working on getting the brushes you use for myself as well as my Momma....I am going to surprise her with one of your books, a pallet of paints and hopefully the brushes for Christmas. Then direct he on how to watch your videos on CZcams...she has many adult color books she uses with pencil and marker but she has never painted before so hoping she will enjoy as much as I have.

    Funny you mentioned the reviews … my husband was trying to read me the reviews & I wouldn’t hear it! I just knew the quality would be amazing.
    Even he said that some people only write reviews when it criticism & when we’re very happy we forget. I won’t forget 🤍
