Corsair support has emailed me with new drivers in their website:
Beau,
There's an updated driver that has been released. Download the driver from the following link and update accordingly:
www3.corsair.com/Files/Voyager-Laptop/23.20.36.02-240112a-399646C.zip
Before you do, disable both Bitlocker, as well as Secure Boot. After the update, you can re-enable if you want them on.
Fantastic review... Honestly really fun and informative to watch. Currently have a Gigabyte Aero 16 2022 model but some driver / potential hardware issues with the internal keyboard. Not sure if it's worth keeping. Suggestions? Also... Any issues like that with the Corsair?
Brother i need a serious suggestion and help
I have 2022 legion slim 7i
And left side of the display doesn't closes properly amd stays elevated
I think it may ne due to one side tighter hinges
Do we need to remove all the thermal paste and heatsinks while repairing or amything dong wiht hngesbon that laptop plz i need your help it doesn't closes properly and i am scared
Good review, as usual. Keep up the good work, sir.
Thanks!
Congrats, Beau! Great to connect with you at CES #bringyourworth
Hey Damon! Great chatting with you! Keep that energy flowing my man, positivity is king
Really wanted to like this laptop. What boggle my mind is how drivers need to go through the manufacturer. I have an Asus ROG Strix and my Nvidia graphic driver update is managed directly with GeForce experience. Now, why did Corsair feel it was necessary to micromanage the driver update. I couldn't play any current games because the amd drivers were outdated. Could I blow away all Corsair bloatware and run this laptop like a custom built desktop? No manufacturer interference?
Another nice one Beau! iCUE is definitely the "advantage" here IMO, shame it's also gotten kind of bloated.
Thanks! Yeah companies need to realize that they can kill a laptop before it gets a chance with bad software
I've been waiting for this. Mine is still in the box, sealed. 😁
It’s great, maybe worth opening
Yup. Will do later today. 😁
I kinda want one
I’m just one step out of buy a great deal on EBay for a new of this laptop, there’s a overall bad review of this, I’m a IT guy so I’m not scared to tweak or make this big boy working, thanks for your review cause give me a boost to bought it, anyone knows if the programming of the top touch buttons if fixed now?
It's been an awesome laptop once I got things sorted with driver support. I repasted with PTM Honeywell 7950 and with the newest updates on AMD, the idle watts is way down.
My use case:
1. Dev work in Unity, Blender, VSCode, Filmora, Davinci Resolve.
2. VM Works
3. Gaming all the way up to CyberPunk
4. Some VR.
Thanks for the review! Do you plan to make a second video and test its performance in more games?
Yes I will. After some CES stuff. I’m using this one as a daily driver right now
Hi there, on 22:19 you mentioned about taking off the on screen display thingy for the battery. How do I do that? Thanks in advance!
uninstall the Corsair OSD software
under apps literally coarsair_OSD_software something like that
truthfully this laptop needs a fresh windows install the bloatware is a lot
Is that the Lenovo ThinkVision P40w-20 I see in the back? If so, would love to see a review about it! I am really close to buying one too
It is yes. I’ve already recorded the review, I’ll be publishing in the next week or two. It’s quite nice
This laptop is an underrated beast of a machine its crazy powerful and runs games like butter after it was fixed
Amazing video 😎 Older GPU is a big issue btw 🥺 Fluid Motion Frames is must have which comes with the new drivers :(
There is a driver for the internal display on corsairs forums that allow the IGPU to see the monitor with the newest drivers.
Got a link?
@@beau-urns I tried it got removed...
@@beau-urns I tried but it was removed.
Great review! But you need to show more games.
I actually have this laptop right now. It runs everything like a champ. Think of an rtx 4070 in performance but with more vram
@@TechGuyBeau i think to buy it used) O have Asus x16 rtx3060 with mini led, but I really wanna buy that laptop)
Man seems like a risky buy if they stopped updating the drivers so early. I had years ago a fujitsu laptop from 2012 and it was basically bricked after I had it for a year, cant play any games on it as the gpu drivers are too old. if you installed drivers from nvidia the screen would not work :/ and fujitsu never made any new drivers for windows 10 when that came out so yeah... Similar shit with my msi creator. There are no drivers supporting win 11. win 11 came out like a year after I got the laptop. everything I need works except the sound card properties (sound works fine) and battery features like stop charging at 80% does not work in win 11.
definitely shouldn’t pay full price. Luckily the drivers that matter (cpu and gpu) can be updated directly if need be. Let’s hope Corsair decides to extend some support to this laptop in the future
Have you tried Device Doctor? I reformatted plenty of laptops that don't support Windows 11 and Device Doctor searched for the missing drivers without a hitch.
I'm currently torn between possibly getting this - there's a new/returned model on eBay for £1,099 from a seller covered by eBay discount codes, currently taking another £75 off - or a similarly near-unused 2022 Zenbook Pro 15 Duo with a comparable core spec (i7-12700H, 32GB, 3070Ti) for £600 more. In terms of the raw hardware, even with the 4K OLED and second screen on the latter, there's definitely not £600 in it. But if the Asus is going to get driver support and the Corsair isn't... Considering I'd be planning on holding onto this for multiple years...
Found a solution for the locked 60FPS after updating to the latest AMD driver. You need to disable the Hybrid mode on the BIOS and select dGPU mode. With this, you'll have 240Hz and you can install the latest GPU driver directly from AMD. 😁
Oh fascinating. Well there it is :) I’ll try that tonight
Might hurt battery life since you’re on dGPU mode but for pure gaming tasks should really improve performance :)
You can always switch back to hybrid mode when needed anyways
Hello, I did this for my computer but I have a problem, when I choose dGPU in the BIOS and then I restart the computer I have a new problem, the screen is stuck at the minimum brightness, I cannot increase screen brightness. Can you tell me if you had the same thing?
You could install a custom inf file door the display to change the refresh rate without issues. (You'll need to get to safe mode to have the option to install the unsigned driver. (Or maybe to allows unsigned drivers option by disabling enforcement of the drivers
did the new drivers fix it?
There was a driver update a couple months back that really helped a lot
@@TechGuyBeau Thanks, do you think its worth to buy for a 1000$ or should I go for something else like a lenovo 5 slim
@@yakinthebox it depends, which are the specs of the slim?
@@Jesus.Martinez.32 nvm I ordered a legion 5i pro i7 13700HX 4070 240Hz for 1100
@@yakinthebox great choice!! Hope you enjoy it!!
The price in Europe is about 3000 euros with 16GB of RAM, x1600p. Goes up to 4000 euros with 32GB of ram.
Obviously for the price you said it's a no brainer, but for 4 times higher, nah.
It was 1599 EUR in November/December. However, nowadays it’s cheaper to order one on Amazon US for $1299, they deliver it to EU.
@@badaworld5433 Price between 700 and 3000 or 4000 is insane. If Corsair can't be bothered to do something about that, or if they can't be bothered to fix their software because it didn't sell that well, why would I want to buy it? Nah. Not that I have money, just saying.
Have you tried playing Fortnite on this laptop ?
I haven’t but it will run perfectly well. 6800m + 6900hx is overkill if anything
@TechGuyBeau if it isn't too much to ask, can you test for me? I bought mine in Dec 2022 but the outdated Corsair provided AMD drivers made the game unplayable. Had I been able to download the latest drivers from AMD, I would have kept it.
They're not cheap where I am 😢 I'd get one jyst for the keyboard.
Dang. Maybe a sale incoming
Looks like a shit... Tbh... Not a premium. This space between hinges...
It's actually amazing in REAL LIFE. I just openend mine. It's on par with Razer Blade build quality.
why is it so ugly tho
The hinge? Higher up hinge helps with posture, so you're not staring down
