Brilliant. I am a huge fan. Derren has been responsible for me no longer believing in spiritualism. Sad that I used to get solace from it, but he has convinced me that it’s all fraudulent.

Atheist or not, I don’t think Derren is against religion or spiritualism as a whole. He does however have a huge problem with people like certain “faith” or “prosperity” preachers that prey on people in the name of Jesus, as do I. I think there is nothing more despicable. I’m a Christian and I love Derren and what he does. To each there own, I just think Jesus/God/The Universe is all about LOVE and I hate when people talk down to or rip people off in the name of God. Just my 2 cents, hope you guys are having a good year so far, much love to Derren and everyone that enjoys the astounding brain and platform he has! Nothing like a good ole MIND TRICK!!!!

What's sad is that theists will claim that you are "Angry at God!" They aren't capable of understanding the truth. It will simply NEVER occur to them that you might actually be angry at yourself; angry at yourself for having been gullible. Angry for being so gullible for so long. Seeing them still believing in their vacuous nonsense, it reminds us of how gullible we used to be and this makes us angry at ourselves. They sense this anger and assume that you're angry at their imaginary friend 'God,' because the reality of it all just never occurs to them...

In the first trick with Jonny Ross there'd have to be a deck switch at some stage, the stories were to create a big enough gap for two decks to be prepared and substituted under the table, so I don't think we saw the whole process. He must have got them to let go of their decks at some point, maybe by swapping decks under the table and someone under there intervened, otherwise there's literally no fucking way! At the end Jane says that the cards never left her hands but Jonathan kind of corrects her saying "Never left the TABLE then under OUR hands." The table had a huge cloth on it for a reason! There's an added clincher for us at 3:33 we see Jonathan's hands squaring up the red backed deck at the start which he has at the end BUT it could be an edited insert of a hand double or a separate trick.

Card under the table 7♥️: the two people are distracted by the stories. Drawn into the stories. Their attention is on Derren. And they are actively listening to him. Thinking about the stories. And asked questions. This creates gaps in attention. A person under the table can insert any card. And remove any card. During the gaps.
Or. Even 2 people under the table.
People never expect confederates under the table.

@@arloking Remember how Derren handed something to the strangers in the street? He talked to them, and handed them something. He basically loaded their brain’s attention. On 2 things: talking and handling the Water bottle. What he did in the card trick is he loaded them up with talking, and had them also use their hands with the cards. That overloads their brains.
Remember the gorilla walking through the people passing balls video? (Again. I’m not quite sure of the exact experiment.) The viewers were to keep track of a ball being passed around. So the viewers were give an active task. Lots of people onscreen. Lots of motion. After the video ends, instead of asking about the task, they ask you if you saw the gorilla walking through the middle of the people. And the viewer didn’t. They ask you to rewind the video and watch now for the gorilla. And it was there all along! But because your mind was on another task, you failed to register there was a gorilla. Until it mattered. Then you couldn’t unsee it.
Same thing applies here. It might be the person under the table can take the deck out of their hands, and sort it and return it.
Attention to one area can create blind spots in other areas.

The ones who gave the wallets etc were prpbably hypnotized before and given a post hypnotic suggestion to give the stuff to Darren and forget about them being hypnotized. (amnesia phenomena created with hynosis so that they don't remember that they were hypnotised 5 minutes ago.). The last one was not hypnotized upfront and it was just a part intended to be like that to make the show more interesting. It was not an unsuccessful attemt, it was done on purpose.

I think the same thing. It seems like he has done pre-show work, as it's called, and the last one was deliberate. Derren blew me away when I saw his first series. Since then I've worked out quite a few of his tricks, and a lot of what appears to be mentalism is just plain old magic, and requires no reading of people, or persuasion etc. Some of his magic uses editing and even camera tricks, which is frowned upon by some magicians.
