Genuinely find it hilarious how all the reviewers are getting multiple cards to advertise when the public cant even purchase them. There comes a point where hype turns to frustration and then we turn to AMD.

Had me a little concerned with that crash, but I can forgive that as you were pushing the overclock on it, and to be fair I’m likely to just leave it as default.
Could you really call this a review? 1 single benchmark in a different scene against 1 other card. Didn't test OC limits because his PSU is too low.

I dont get why ppl so intended for overclocking this monster 3080, the 3dmark score for this 3080 without overclocking is almost twice as 2080.

in general all the graphic card have coil whine on stress task so a i would not complain about that.

Have an OC Strix 1080ti which I’ve been very happy with, but moving to high refresh rate 1440p ultrawide monitors it has started to show its limitations. Hoping to pick up an OC Strix 3080 whenever the auto-purchase bots have died down and these are more regularly in stock. I’m in no rush.

Yep, I managed to get that Strix a month or two after I made that comment when it first went on sale on Amazon.
4k MAX BENCHMARKS Averages -
Strix Overclocked - Horizon 78, Apex 149, Youngblood 164, Far Cry 5.
Founders - Horizon 70, Apex 137, Youngblood 151, Far Cry 5 93.
TUF Perf mode - Horizon 74, Apex 135, Youngblood 156, Far Cry 5 98.
Note that Horizon needed a lower clock speed overclock to not crash.
Didn't compare temps as the ambient temps were too different

Actually I've been thinking the same about all of them that has the cards and making videos. It's pointless to show it to viewers because it's a paper launch and will be for a long time until next year. I consider Nvidia to be a insult to my intelligence when they claim the orders from consumers wasn't anticipated.

There shouldn't be any artifacting at all, regardless. GDDR6X is ECC memory, so you should just see a crash before anything.

Just go to the ASUS homepage and check the length and height. Then look at the manual that came with your case. He'd have to do the same, why ask him to do it? 😅

Wish you would put up some comparison charts or something. You're the first strix card review i've seen go up. I want this card but not sure if its worth the extra $100 for this over the MSI trio. I do like those clock speeds though, what was your fan speeds set to to get that clock speed and those temps?

Same although scan is not giving out queue numbers, just that they cut off pre-orders early to prevent a long tailback and that nearly all queues are in the low hundreds. Their next ASUS delivery is expected between now and friday so just gotta hope.

@@eo2077 Thay actually work to get where they are and thats why they get sent things but did he say he got sent it by ASUS? even so you want a free card start a channel, spend money to do so and the time as well and then you might get a FREE card before others BUT you might have to send it back after a few days as that is also how it works...............
highly recommended that you should be using 3 separate power cables for that gpu for maximus clocks and stability, and not using a break out cables which provides power to 2x8pins connectors from one power supply output.
each pcie cable can handle at least 250w, it's ok

Nah you just need to be in the right country, my local retailer here has like a dozen 3080 cards on shelves with very few people even bother.

The big thing with ASUS is, they are not using any POSCAPs and all MLCCs. Unlike a lot of the other companies using all POSCAPs or just one MLCC. You are not going to get the crash over 2000 MHz.
Dont you need three separate 8-pin cables to get the most out of it?

Vertical mounting does make GPU look cooler but it lowers airflow and increases GPU temps for about 25%.

Thats the common case yea but this early on in the products lifespan and with the all new manufacturing process etc its not likely the binning will be that accurate

The difference in OC performance over the $700 models is 5% at most. Ampere just doesn't seem to be built for OC'ing, going with a base level 3080 is the smartest.
Grumbles i went with the Asus tuf 3080 oc, and got a 10% discount on it. Still not arrived though.

my asus strix 2080ti "Advanced" had ear destroying coil whine for the first months of having it.
Then it gradually stopped.
But i think its absolutely inexcusable for a premium card to have such HORRIBLE coil whine.
Guys please reconsider before rushing to buy this strix.
Maybe i was just unlucky with mine but ive read that multiple people have had the same insane coil whine on their strix cards and most people (myself included) couldn't RMA it despite the coil whine literally hurting my ears. So please do some research to check which brand has had least coil whine.

I think he mixed the screens up, if you look at the AVG number I thing that is FPS and he reversed the title for the cards by mistake....................not sure but the onlt thing I could see
2 different scenes and he was focusing on the core clock not fps

@@IASystemsComputerControls Well, if what you are saying is true, then there is a significant difference in performance between those 2 cards. 5 - 10 fps, thats like 6 - 12%... Overall, his comparison is not that clear for an untrained eye. I know those are 2 different scenes, but its confusing for many people. Not everyone figured it out on the first go.

I got a question for you PC Centric, can you change the color of the led strip on the strix with asus aura software or some other software? because I'm building a theme build and a rgb rainbow card wouldn't look good into that. I would love to make it a static color.
What does "decent improvement" or "a lot" mean? FFS FPS and benchmarks! Nobody cares about the small physical size differences with those two cards, they're both big .. it's splitting hairs, but they do want benchmarks! They want to know what the extra cash is buying them over each ASUS card and the Founder's Edition.
This isn't a review. It's an advertisement. No comparison between even the TUF card on thermals, noise, FPS... what a waste.

Possible reason there's coil whine is because ASUS opted to use all MLCC rather than a mix of both MLCC and SP-Caps for the sake of higher overclocking headroom. There's a reason Nvidia's reference design used a mix of both. It was specifically said it was to prevent coil whine/MLCC acoustic noise.

thats just when the gpu pushes like 300+ FPS in the menus, not gonna have it while gaming and capping your framerates at your monitor refresh rate will get rid of it even in old games that would run over 300fps
@@Gregoses Agreed. In fact, I've ran some pure ray tracing applications on my 2080, and the coil whine was certainly audible but I was getting hundreds of fps xD
@@Gregoses I plan on moving up to 360hz so this is a major concern for me. I'm assuming based on what you said both the TUF and STRIX mode will suffer this issue? Maybe the EVGA/FE/Gigabyte models will be safer?
Really enjoying the content ! Your very enjoyable to watch. I had some bad coil whine in me msi 2080ti so I decided to change my power supply from a 750 to an 850watt and it fix d the problem , may be worth a test?
Yeah, it's usually caused by poor power delivery or low quality components and cables. I'd imagine his PSU has taken a lot of pressure given all the builds and is the culprit.
I've heard of one other ASUS 3080 having that issue too though, so could be the card, but I doubt it. Build quality is top notch.

@John Wegner .. I've seen it priced at $850.00 usd .. I think it's the best looking aib card thus far, but kind of disappointing to hear it has noticeable coil whine included for the extra $150 premium.. 🙄
Yeah it's kind of annoying, and if you pause the video where it shows pricing, it doesn't even show the ASUS card he's reviewing. However, the comparable cards on the video when you pause range from 779 pounds to 899 pounds - or $1008-$1164 USD.

Hate you already................waiting on mine from OCUK so thankyou for the first real english review..................wrote this BEFORE I watched the video so praying its all good....................So just watched the video............DUDE 2100mhz!!! thats the dogs bollocks and full MLCC chips so Im a happy bunny. I use a ROG Helios and it dropped my CPU and GPU temps 20 degress with same parts in a Kolink Vault.............ROG all the way, not as a fan boy but dont waste my money............Thanks PC Centric...........can we get a longer video to ogal the card lol EDIT forgot to ask what driver version as the 55 just came out?
