    But for a child who Gags, chokes and drool often what can an occupational therapist do to help?

      Thank you! With a child that gags and chokes often, I've typically experienced the child getting assessed for dysphagia or other conditions by a medical doctor and/or a speech language pathologist. This may include getting a swallow study done depending on the severity. All of the assessments and referrals would be initiated by a medical doctor.

    I have an 11 year old who still put everything in her mouth, she doesn’t eat any of it but chews everything from bottle tops, bits of plastic, pens, clothes it’s always been a problem and nothing I can do stops her.

      Thank you both for sharing. Must be very frustrating for you. If your kids are not stopping, I hope you are starting to explore ways to provide your children safe objects that they can place in their mouth instead of the unsafe objects

      @@afsahfarooq710 Thanks for sharing. Some parents have had luck giving their child chewy toys to help, but you’d need to reach out to your child’s doctor or OT to see if that would be appropriate for your child

    What about kids that walk on there tippy toes and don’t like wearing shoes ?

    • @timitherapy
      @timitherapy  Před rokem

      Toe walking is pretty common and could be for a variety of reasons.. I'll add that to my video list, thanks for the idea!
      As far as the shoes... could be from a sensory standpoint of not liking the feeling of socks/shoes OR if the child prefers to toe walk, maybe the shoes they are wearing is stopping them getting into that preferred position? Can't be sure without knowing the child, these are just a few ideas to ponder :)

    I was asked to get pica friendly blankets & comforters for my adult autistic Down’s syndrome brother. All I can find is hospital grade blankets. I don’t know anyone to ask to find out if this will be fine.

    • @timitherapy
      @timitherapy  Před 8 měsíci

      Hmm, I'm not too sure. I haven't heard of any particular brands or materials. I would assume the hospital grade ones would be tear proof? This person's doctor may have some suggestions

    My son is currently 11 months old, and every new toy goes to his mouth. But if I show him how to play with it he dosent put it back or once he realize it's not ateable. But in general, he's a chronic biter. It's gotten worse since he started teething. He has 6 teeth, 4 on top and 2 on the bottom I don't think his gums are bothering him but he just bites everything. He bites the table he bite a card board book and saturated it till it tore off and started chewing it. Idk he flickers his hands/fingers a lot by the way.
    Thank you for this video, this channel is much appreciated ❤️

    My toddler recently turned 2 .She puts everything in mouth which she sees 1st time .Any new object she wants to feel it through her mouth .Can please suggest how to stop that TIA

    • @timitherapy
      @timitherapy  Před 10 měsíci

      Thanks for watching! Seems like she might be using that as a way to explore the objects? I wonder if she continues to do that after the object is no longer "new" to her? If so, she may need to see other ways she can play/explore the objects she has.
      I can’t be sure since I don’t know her. If you have concerns, I highly recommend you reach out to her doctor!
