This reminds me of the lady that promised her husband she would bury all his money with him when he died. When he died, she and her friend were at the wake and her friend asked her if she really put all his money in the casket with him. The wife said, "Yes, I did". When I was learning to play hockey as a goalie in high school, my grandfather visited from Arizona. He came to practices and laughed quite a bit as I fell over and over. He got a lot of joy out of those times and said he was proud of me. When he died not long after, I got a puck from one of our winning games and Dad put it in his suit coat pocket. I hope it still makes him smile all these years later. It does me.

My son's great grandmother was a special woman,and she loved him dearly. I loved her because she always saw the best in me. I served her her last meal of ice cream. When she said she didn't want it, I knew it was her time. I told her to not worry I will do everything she had asked of me. Her funeral was beautiful. I placed a small flashlight in her casket and her favorite picture of Carlos. His father asked why the flashlight ? My great grandmother's sister made my mother promise that when she died my mom would go to the funeral open a can of coke, {my aunts favorite drink} take a sip, and put it in the casket with her. Aunt Juicy {i couldnt say her real name when i was learning to speak so i called her Aunt Juicy} told mom she would haunt her if she didnt. When she passed and mom went to the services and did as she had been told, much to my grandmothers mortification, mom told her point blank she didnt want to be haunted so mom did her due diligence, she opened a can of coke and did as she had been told and saw Aunt Juicy had made several people promise this to her because her casket was lined with open coke cans! God rest her i hope shes still enjoying those cokes up in heaven!
My Father always told me to place $1.50 in his suit pocket for a cup of coffee on the way, and .50 cents in dimes so he could use a pay phone to let us know he has arrived, I did just that, don’t know if he ever got his coffee but we never did get a phone call, apparently I didn’t give him enough to make the call or he couldn’t find a pay phone
Some years go, I visited the family plot of jazz great Box Beiderbecke. In the blues tradition, I cleaned up around the grave site and place a coin on his headstone.
I am enjoying these keep up the good work. I want to share what my beloved cousin was buried with, he died at 35 of cancer in 2004. Coach Walt, as he was known, coached high school wrestling. His boys won state in 2003 which was the last year he could coach them. When he died they all came to the funeral and we the family didn't know it until it was our time to take that last look and goodbye but those boys had brought their metals from state and laid them on his chest. When they closed his casket for the last time it looked like he was wearing armor. My uncle's dad was a brick layer by trade and when he died my uncle (by marriage) had a model of a brick laying job that he put in with his dad. When my uncle died we put in his favorite NASCAR model he built and his pride and joy (a picture of a bottle of Pride and a bottle of Joy) that he would ask everyone if they wanted to see a picture of his pride and joy every where he went then show them that picture.

I feel the pang of loss every time I think of them. My health has been a bit dodgy my entire life, and I've outlived many of the people I thought I would be growing old with. I turn 70 the end of this month.

When my grandma died my 2 grandkids packed her 2 lunches and 4 diet cokes, they were 6 and 9 at that time. my cousin had closed her savings account and right before they closed the casket and locked it , he put an envelope in at, after the funeral and we were eating, my mom asked him what was in the envelope and he said 2 thousand dollars, she said why did you bury it with her, he shrugged his shoulders and said it was her money then he just walked away.

I am enjoying these keep up the good work. I want to share what my beloved cousin was buried with, he died at 35 of cancer in 2004. Coach Walt, as he was known, coached high school wrestling. His boys won state in 2003 which was the last year he could coach them. When he died they all came to the funeral and we the family didn't know it until it was our time to take that last look and goodbye but those boys had brought their metals from state and laid them on his chest. When they closed his casket for the last time it looked like he was wearing armor.
My uncle's dad was a brick layer by trade and when he died my uncle (by marriage) had a model of a brick laying job that he put in with his dad. When my uncle died we put in his favorite NASCAR model he built and his pride and joy (a picture of a bottle of Pride and a bottle of Joy) that he would ask everyone if they wanted to see a picture of his pride and joy every where he went then show them that picture.

My sister passed away many years ago of cancer. She was 49. When she was sick she received two teddy bears as gifts that she kept by her side in bed. She named them oxy and chemo. They were buried with her
My mother always said she wanted to be buried with a blanket because she knew she would get cold. She also wanted to be buried standing up since she could not sleep on her back. Well, we were able to cover her with a blanket at least, one knitted by my sister in law for her.
My son died in 2009 of T1D. He had 2 Teddy's that he received for his 3rd birthday that he kept with him until his death. He moved, they moved. I put them in his casket before they closed it. Another move for my baby and his 32 year old friends.😓💕

When my aunt was buried my sister put a porcelain doll in her casket that played Candy man by Sammy Davis Jr. Some idiot wound it up as her casket was closed so it was playing as she was lowered into the ground and covered up. To this day I can't hear that song without the shivers!
My mother (who was cremated) was buried with the ashes of her favorite dog who had died a few years before.
My Grandfather was born and raised in Chicago and lived his whole life there. We buried him with a pack of my cigarettes a deck of poker cards,pinochle cards,Chicago Tribune newspaper,a lapel pin of the Cincinnati Reds his favorite team but he really was a Cubs fan at heart and a can of Old Style beer.
My grandfather passed in December, the last year he slept more anything. The last time we truly saw him light up and be his normal self was when my son showed him the lightsaber he built. When my grandfather passed, my son had to buy a lightsaber to be buried with him.

I buried my mum with her kindle, tablet and phone along with her chargers. Didn’t want her getting bored and incase she wasn’t dead (she was) and so she wouldn’t give dad a lot of grief
My mom had dementia and thyroid cancer. She was buried with her to babies, 2 stuffed animals, one in each are.

Our family members who have passed has photos of some of the family buried with them. Rosaries are used for Catholics and laced thru their fingers. As for myself, I want the ashes of one of my dogs included in my casket as well as a small amout of ashes from one of my cremated horses.
I would like my dog's ashes buried with me too. I like to think he will be waiting for me.

I owned an M-1 Garand and would shoot it when I had the opportunity. My uncle was a WWII vet who really enjoyed shooting my rifle. When he passed I gave the rifle to my aunt so it could be buried with him.

This isn't quite the same but, my brother-in-law who was an avid golfer, passed away recently from cancer. Ironically his favourite golf course is near the cemetery, and as he planned his own funeral, he made sure his final resting spot faced the golf course!

My mom died on Christmas of 2021 . My brother's and I each left her one distinctive thing I left her a Rosary 📿 . My middle brother was in the Army and then went to the Marines he left her his dog tags and his purple heart. The baby left her a pair of dirty socks. The socks have been a private personal joke between the two of them for years....

I thought, "why does this woman want to be buried with Whittdocs photo?! I mean, he's a nice enough guy, but"!!!! Then I looked at the name, and thought, "Oh, OK"!!!! Duhhhhhhhh!!!! When my grandfather died my sister had given him a keychain that said worlds greatest grandpa, it was in his pocket.
I put a freshly pressed handkerchief and a selection of seeds from his collection in the fridge door into my father's jacket pocket when he passed away.

My mom had a well loved teddy bear from the 1930s. It was special to her, but not to the rest of us, so we put it in her arms in her casket.
My Dad's Favorite Saying was a penny saved is a penny earned. He was buried in his overalls and in his zipper pocket I put a penny with the year he died. He was also a apple farmer so on top of his casket I put a big apple. It went in the ground with him

@victoriabagwell8426 My friends Bill and Sherry were the first Baron and Baroness of Cuoer D'Ennui (Des Moines, IA) in the kingdom of Calontir. They died 40 years ago. I feel the pang of loss every time I think of them. My health has been a bit dodgy my entire life, and I've outlived many of the people I thought I would be growing old with. I turn 70 the end of this month.

My brother passed away in January, he was a plumber.many of his nephews and friends put wrenches in the casket.I on the other hand put a hairbrush, my favorite memory of him is singing into the brush in front of the mirror it was pretty much a ritual.hope he is singing in heaven rip ❤ you miss you too

When my grandma died my 2 grandkids packed her 2 lunches and 4 diet cokes, they were 6 and 9 at that time. my cousin had closed her savings account and right before they closed the casket and locked it , he put an envelope in at, after the funeral and we were eating, my mom asked him what was in the envelope and he said 2 thousand dollars, she said why did you bury it with her, he shrugged his shoulders and said it was her money then he just walked away.
My mom collected pink elephants, and we buried several with her.

What a GR8 video! For Part 3 Gregg Allman of the Allman Brothers. Band. My boyfriend was killed killed in a motorcycle crash. He was buried wearing his colors, his favorite beer, his curettes, and a lighter, some weed, & cocaine. I think he was happy when he got to heaven, but the undertaker wasn't to happy with us! 😆
