  • When you walk into a target store, you might find a Starbucks coffee shop right on the corner. When you shop in some of Louis Vuitton's retail stores, you might see some posters of the newest model of BMW i8. In today’s business world, we saw an increasing number of firms entering strategic alliances to either enhance their strengths or compensate for their weakness. So what is a strategic alliance? Why do firms choose to form them? What are the major types of strategic alliances? How to manage the strategic alliances? Are there some famous examples of strategic alliances from the real business world? In this video, I will discuss these questions with you.

A strategic alliance in my opinion is one of the greatest thing a business can do. I don't think we do enough of this on a small scale. There is enough money to go around to market quality businesses within your business and not lose sales or revenue. Marketing quality brands of products that you don't offer of another companies is great because then it starts a great partnership and brings in more customers.

A strategic alliance is a great thing when the two companies can agree and complete a mutually beneficial deal. This was great to learn about and can definitely be something a lot of businesses use in the real world.

As a consumer, a strategic alliance is successful when I'm interested in both brands or products offered. As a marketer, I appreciate the ability to achieve new relevant audience members.

When it comes to accessing critical complementary assets, it reminds me of a coffee shop I go to! The coffee shop sells their specialty coffee and ice cream, but they also sell gluten-free baked goods from another local shop! They then do not have to pay for the time, effort, or ingredients of the baked good, instead, they have an alliance with another local shop!

I work for an engineer firm that does MEP for school districts. Some of them have minority and women in business requirements that we do not meet as a company. We have strategic alliances with minority or women architects to join with on projects. This opens the door for us to have more opportunities within the districts. It also allows these small architectural firms we work with to build their resume with bigger school districts. I think strategic alliances are ideal in most cases for businesses.

Strategical alliance is a great opportunity for both businesses to retarget their audience. Two companies from different areas can help each other to find new customers and make some loyalty and trust for another company. I think this strategy can be profitable in small businesses too.

Strategic Alliance, when used correctly, is something that can be extremely beneficial. If there are two companies that share a similar audience, this can prove to be beneficial for both parties. Starbucks not only has a strategic alliance with Target, but is also has one with Barnes and Nobles. I love going book shopping and being able to get a drink on my way out. If I ever started my own business, I would love to find a way to have a strategic alliance with another company that shares my targeted audience.

This video was very informative. I hadn't realized the things that are tied into strategic alliances. Equity alliance stood out most. I did not know one of the partners takes partial ownership of the other. That was very interesting.

I can see how working together can be advantageous since the product you are selling could be bought by the same individuals. I saw a recently at a convention where a product is produced and a retail product could be used at the same time and purchase at the same time due to all being in the same field and markets.

I found the video informative, with a particular emphasis on the unexpected element of equity alliances and gained acknowledges the importance of strategic alliances in business This video addresses a strong belief in the value of strategic alliances for businesses, particularly emphasizing the underutilization of this strategy on a smaller scale. This video highlights the potential for mutually beneficial partnerships and increased customer engagement by marketing quality products from other companies.
