This in my opinion is the best kind of fishing, nestled in Mangrove islands surrounded by a natural aquarium. Definitely also a better experience when you catch your own bait.

Years ago when we lived in south fla., we would take the family to isla marada where we could walk out into the gulf a long way and fish, dive and just hang out,,,it was a BLAST,,,the water was beautiful and we enjoyed our trips but the DOT put up signs saying that you could no longer park there and so we went to Steamboat creek and fished and swam there...we caught plenty of fish, snapper, grouper, etc and underwater was BREAUTIFUL.....South Florida is no longer the pristine beauty it once was,,,,but I have memories of when it WAS....this was in the 80's,,,,,,
different times for sure!
Love the great catch & cook format. I just smile when I hear that jet noise in the background. My son did a 3 year tour in KW and lived in one of those big beautiful homes on Trumbo Point. My go to favs were The Square Grouper and Cudjo Sales. Thanks for the memories.

Man I get so relaxed when I watch videos like that. That is me all day,just don't have the boat anymore, or the beautiful keys to fish in. Gonna have to come down and hire you for a day or two if that's cool with you.

Next time we come down, I don't care what kinda fishing we do, spear, spin, whatever, but that looked like a great day out fishing. I would pay even to do that. Such a great way to see the mangroves and catch some fish!

I love u used the carcasses. Made some tacos the other night: made my own flour tortillas (not fun, but good), cilantro, white onion, cabbage, guacamole, and made a salsa that was steamed red chilis (not spicy), garlic, salt and spicy chilis in blender. Divine with the fresh fish!

Have to confess that I've never been a really dedicated fisherman. However, my father got me out into Galveston Bay a whole bunch of times to go fishing with him starting when I was a kid and continuing well into my adult years. No mangrove islands there of course, but still plenty of productive fishing spots where we would cruise to and throw in our lines. Looking back now, those were some of the best times of my life. It seemed like the world was just as it should be and it would all last forever... My father passed in 2014, and this brought back some great memories. Thanks, man.

Great footage, great commentary, great fishing and then you go home and from just the carcasses of the Mangrove Snappers whip up a crazy but very tasty looking Fish Taco!! live bait fishing is so much fun , a few days ago i did this same thing , stumbled on a ton of pilchards being fed on , netted some and sat there in my kayak , caught 8 snook , two big jacks , and one tarpon all in the same spot , unbelievable day .... love the gheeneo vids

Regarding cooking the carcasses, I’d recommend using parchment paper under the rack instead of foil. Aluminum is linked to early onset dementia. Parchment paper works great and is a lot cheaper, too!

The spear fishing, deep sea sword fishing episodes are good but I love these laid back “no real agenda “ ones, just living life and enjoying the day! I was super excited to see the mesh back flex fit hat (as a child of the 90’s I need to be able to fold the bill) so I ordered one immediately!! It looks like paradise out there on that beautiful water. I have been there one time almost 20 years ago. Our fishing plans that week got blown out big time and it was in June. Will come back someday to try again.
