  • In 2018, the wearable technology market was worth nearly $23 billion, and it is expected to grow to $54 billion by 2023. This is good news for the healthcare sector because it stands to benefit the most from wearables development.
Wearable health technology is able to generate and communicate information about our bodies with ease, which is allowing personal healthcare to be more convenient and effective for many of us. But are these healthcare benefits coming at a cost to us?
And that is exactly what our team wanted to explore in this episode. We wanted to take a closer look at wearable healthcare technology - its promises, potential risks, and possible solutions.

I know this is quite a serious subject, raising many serious questions, but can we just take a second to acknowledge the cuteness of the characters in this video?

Some people have been shocked by the charging contacts on the back of these watches too. These watches are held tightly against your skin whilst exercising being covered in sweat. It would take a little while to get it off your wrist while it is burning your skin.
The old batteries are a completely different technology (alkaline) These new devices carry dangerous Lithium Polymer (LIPO) batteries which can release power a LOT quicker and are known to explode and set on fire.
I have tried for 2 nights now to sleep with this new smart watch on and both of my arms feel like there is restricted blood flow and I am forced to take it off to be able to sleep. They emit radiation constantly and are right against your main artery. Something is not right about them.

@@menthu-sama823 They are supposed to be tight enough to measure your heart rate and blood oxygen levels. Wearing them loose will not prevent electric shocks. Re-designing the watches to have charging contacts further apart will.
It is no where near tight enough to restrict blood flow and why would I feel tightness in my other arm too?
'There are some risks associated with wearing a smartwatch while sleeping. One of the main concerns is the potential for electromagnetic radiation exposure. All electronic devices emit some amount of electromagnetic radiation, which has been linked to a range of health issues, including cancer, reproductive problems, and neurological disorders.'
'Furthermore, the results show the significance of disruption of melatonin due to exposure to weak EMFs, which may possibly lead to long-term health effects in humans.'
'Melatonin is a hormone made in the body. It regulates night and day cycles or sleep-wake cycles.'
'Studies in people suggest that radiofrequency radiation can raise the risk for cardiovascular diseases by increasing blood pressure, total cholesterol and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol.'
