  • Mental health is incredibly complex, and there are many variations and combinations of factors that can lead to mental disorders. These range from biological factors to external social and environmental factors.
However, today, the alarming rise of mental health disorders worldwide can no longer be treated as an individual problem but rather as a widespread public health issue. So, the question is, why has there been a rise in mental health issues in the last few decades?

Idk but I think the More time passes by the More complicated life gets, technology is getting More complicated, a lot of jobs are getting more complicated, society is getting more complicated, things are getting more expensive, insurance is complicated, going to the doctor is getting more complicated. Life is getting more complex and complicated. So my question is, us as humans are we meant to live the way we are living ? Are we meant to live in a world that has complex changes until the end of time ? Does the human brain even have the the capacity to adjust to the changes of the future ? The more complex life gets will that cause humans to become more depressed and suicidal ? This is something that I’ve always thought about we used to worry about sickness and death but now with all the advancements in technology and medicine seems like now we are starting to be mentally unhealthy.

to go along with your line of thought here, you equate the rise in tech with the rise of mental illness. you are not far off there.
there was a time when people truly accepted and beleived in supernatural phenomena as a part of the fabric of their cultures and their lives. but now, we live in a modern time when we are so conceited that we can explain everything away with rationality and science. its like a mass denial that supresses a very normal part of life our ancestors embraced. this will eventually lead to mass hysteria, unless we reconnect with that spiritual side of ourselves.

Diet and social behavior play a big part these days. Diet - the food we eat will effect our body and mind directly through chemical balance or imbalance - the modern industrialized food production has added unhealthy ingredients and removed healthy ingredients from food. Social behavior - the social media makes people more distant from each other in person while connecting via smart phones - the social media such as instagram and facebook does play a major role in young people much more than older people.

Ye i don't wanna be that guy but while you have a point as Internet addiction can cause depression, you ultimately failed to recognise the OTHER problems that cause depression such as: bad parenting, all types of abuse, school system, all types of bullying, tragedies such as the loss of loved ones in an accident, divorce, traumatic events in ones life, illness, bottled up emotions and many more. Depression isn't just caused by Internet addiction, even if all things related to the Internet disappeared, that would only solve 1 small precent of the actual problem, in fact it would most likely cause even more depression as talented game developers, animators, programers and artists who made a living off the Internet and spent years of time making something they love just for it to dissappear would ultimately make them depressed as then not only are all their years of hard work wasted on nothing but also the fact that they no longer get money wich means they can't pay for basic things like taxes anymore

The once common (for the entire history of humanity, until the 20th Century) culture of living in local, intimate communities/neighborhoods of extended families collapsed after WWII; facilitated by the consolidation of businesses, schools, and churches made possible by the new found wealth and resulting proliferation of automobile and air travel after that war. This collapse is clearly a large, yet rarely mentioned, core cause of this rapid rise in mental illness, as well. Couple that with the deification of individualism by the Baby Boomers, and you have fertile soil for modern alienation and this epidemic of depression, anxiety and trauma along with the drug use/abuse that services the pain of these conditions.

Do not complicate finding solution on mental health with new SDG or ESG aspects specially the young who are not even working yet. The more we know the more we dont know. Get rid of teachers & bosses who advocate that stress is good for you. Competitive approach in life is corrosive & preaches that there are winners & loosers all the time. Management by fear is another cause specially without providing means to help sufferers/victims. Understand that the cup is already full & not all individuals have high end (in speed & size) capable brain. The capitalist system is favorable to the owners of businesses & banks however majority of the people are the struggling working class. Actions to counter mental health must have the correct motivation to begin with & IS NOT greed & pride in my opinion is the root cause. Disruptions cause by AI (advance technologies) is going to make these mental health problem worst rather than better.

You definitely have to study and work hard to come into working world successfully and my parents they had leave their country and sail in a boat to another country, so we kids can have a better life. I do believe it is always a cycle every new generation loves to blame the last generation and the same every generation before you will say, you just love being fed on a silver spoon and you don't understand the meaning of hard work is what makes you successful. Going to the mosque (in my instance) never felt as a safe space to me. Thinking about an omnipotent and omnipresent God always made me anxious and scared as a kid; to the point that I would go to sleep every night with thoughts of burning in eternal hellfire and waking up in the middle of the night drenched in sweat because of those horrifying thoughts. Eventually I learned to let go of Islam (the religion I was born in) and ever since I've had a more happy, content and fulfilling life.

CS Lewis was 100% spot on correct with that. Everyone has a God, whether they know it or not. And if they don't know, then it ain't the one true God.. it's something else they're worshipping and devoting their lives, whether it be money, power, sex, success, war, etc.. and when massive numbers and generations of families turn to false God's, or to Nihilism, mocking and doubting the existence of the creator at all, then we get massive mental health crises worldwide. Fortunately, the Love of God always wins.. which is why Revival is brewing across the US right now and likely all over the world. The young people/college students are starting to wake up, and the next generations will shift out of this hopelessness of athiesm/nihilism and bondage. The wages of sin are death.

If your view in life is just that . . . . "having no purpose in this vast cosmos" then the real problem is that you have decided that you have no need for God. All other issues are irrelevant after that.
The debate of whether God exists is far from over. Where is God in this whole debate? Why does he not say something? If he is there, why is he so quiet . . . . . there are answers but if you do not search then you will not find them.
